00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office and a bit of a cool blustery day today,
00:06particularly in the north, frequent heavy showers thanks to an area of low pressure sat to the east of us.
00:11This moves away, allowing a brief ridge of high pressure to push through for most of us on Sunday ahead
00:17of the next weather system, bringing some cloud and rain in from the west later on in the day.
00:22So let's take a look at the details for the rest of Saturday, a day of sunny spells and scattered
00:29showers across the country, particularly across England and Wales.
00:32In fact, showers more frequent across the northern half of the UK, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
00:37Scotland, they could merge into some longer spells of rain, all being blown in on a brisk northerly breeze, so
00:44it will feel rather chilly out there.
00:45Some gales possible around the coast and over the hills of Scotland, and some of the showers could be a
00:51little wintry over the tops of the mountains here as well.
00:54But in between, there'll be some sunny spells, a different wind direction today compared to yesterday, so it will feel
01:00fresher.
01:01Temperatures in the mid-teens at best, 16, 17 Celsius across the far south.
01:07Add on the strength of the northerly breeze, it will just feel a little cooler than the numbers suggest as
01:12well.
01:12But in the sunshine across the far south, away from where the heaviest of showers will be, it won't feel
01:18too bad.
01:19Those showers continue as we move through the evening time, but overnight they should generally start to ease, along with
01:25the wind for most of us as well.
01:26It may just stay breezy along the east coast, and under clearing skies, temperatures will fall away.
01:32A touch of grass frost is possible across northern parts of Wales, the Midlands, northwards, perhaps even a few pockets
01:39of air frost across parts of Scotland.
01:41Towns and cities generally holding up a little higher.
01:44And then as the cloud thickens through the early hours across the southwest of the UK here, temperatures rising a
01:49little 7 to 10 Celsius.
01:52So it does mean for many of us a sunny and dry start to Sunday morning.
01:55Cloudier, though, for parts of Wales and the west country as this next weather system slowly approaches as the day
02:01progresses.
02:02So outbreaks of rain moving into parts of Cornwall, Devon, Pembrokeshire as we move through into the afternoon.
02:08Elsewhere, it will generally be dry, sunny spells, perhaps one or two light showers across Scotland.
02:13And winds generally much lighter compared to today, just picking up a little later on in the day in the
02:19far west.
02:20So with light winds, it may just feel a little less chilly tomorrow.
02:25But temperatures, again, similar 13 to 17 degrees across the board.
02:30And then through into the evening time, this frontal system just pushes a little further north and eastward.
02:35So rain arriving across parts of Norman Island, the rest of Wales, and then very slowly through the rest of
02:42the night, pushing north and east across the country.
02:44Introducing some stronger winds around the western coast, a few heavier bursts possible as well.
02:50And then the outlook as we move into next week, it generally remains fairly unsettled.
02:54There'll be some showers, some longer spells of rain.
02:56It looks like the wettest and windiest weather, most likely the further north you are and holding on to some
03:02dry weather at times too.
03:03But temperatures overall look to set to be a little above average by day and by night, with perhaps one
03:10or two chillier nights later on in the week.
03:12But more details on this can be found on our website and our social media channels.
03:17See you again soon.
