10 October - National evening forecast presented by Honor Criswick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good evening.
00:01It's going to be feeling chilly as soon as that sun goes down this evening, particularly
00:06where we see any clear skies.
00:08So eastern areas of Scotland, eastern areas of England also, but most of us should see
00:12a mix of cloud and some clear skies through the overnight period.
00:16So it is going to be turning chilly, a chance we could see some rural frost in places, also
00:21some mist and fog during the early hours of Saturday.
00:24A slightly different story across western areas of Scotland, more cloud feeding in here,
00:28also some light outbreaks of rain and drizzle through the early hours.
00:32Most towns and cities in the mid to high single figures, but I wouldn't be surprised if we
00:36dropped below freezing under any clear skies in rural spots.
00:39So if you're up early on Saturday, still fairly chilly, some mist and fog patches in places.
00:46These should lift and clear quite quickly through the course of the morning.
00:49There will be some cloudier skies for some, but most should see the sunshine, particularly
00:54as we head towards the afternoon, and it should feel quite warm and pleasant where we see the
00:57sunshine as well.
00:59Once again, a slightly different story across Scotland, more cloud here, some spells of
01:03rain and drizzle, particularly across the west and the far north, these likely to remain
01:07through most of Saturday.
01:09Otherwise, temperatures fairly similar to what we saw this afternoon, highs reaching around
01:1318 degrees Celsius.
01:16Now still Saturday evening, turning chilly as soon as that sun goes down, clear skies, light
01:22winds, so a further chance of some mist and fog.
01:24But possibly by Sunday morning, there could be a bit more fog around during the early hours,
01:28so do keep an eye out for any short notice warnings if you're up early on Sunday.
01:33But otherwise, it should be fairly similar to what we see through Saturday morning, some
01:38mist and fog, most towns and cities in the mid to high single figures, but once again, possibly
01:42dropping below freezing in any rural spots under those clear skies.
01:47So the fog may linger through a little bit more during the morning on Sunday.
01:51But once again, as we head towards mid-morning lunchtime, most of the low clouds should clear,
01:56allowing that autumnal sunshine to return by the afternoon.
01:59And it's going to be a much better day across Scotland, saying goodbye to the cloud, the rain
02:03and drizzle, a few more sunnier spells breaking through here, and fairly similar temperatures,
02:08highs reaching 18 degrees Celsius.
02:11Are these conditions here to stay?
02:13Well, the high pressure across us over the coming days is here to stay, but it will slowly
02:17edge its way eastwards through the course of next week.
02:21And with that, we'll see a slight change in wind direction, so perhaps more sunshine through
02:25the middle part of the week.
02:26But nevertheless, it does stop any frontal systems coming in for the time being, so the picture
02:30into next week should be mostly dry and settled.
02:33But of course, for more information on that, you can subscribe to our YouTube channel.
