10 November - National evening forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Hello again. More rain and strong winds to talk about for Tuesday, particularly in western parts of the UK.
00:06It's further east where we've had some fairly heavy downpours during Monday evening.
00:10They're spiralling away out into the North Sea, so clearing from southeast Scotland and northeast England.
00:15Dry and clear for many for much of the night. A few showers along the south coast and in the far northwest.
00:20The next zone of rain, though, coming into Northern Ireland, West Wales and Cornwall by morning time.
00:25Accompanied by a strengthening, pretty gusty wind here.
00:28That will help to keep the temperatures up to another mild night here.
00:31But elsewhere, a bit colder than it has been. Nothing unusually chilly, but noticeable because it's been so mild.
00:37It will start down in single digits over eastern England.
00:40And there may even be some pockets of frost in rural parts of northeast Scotland.
00:44Should be a bright enough start here, though, to Tuesday. Some sunny spells.
00:47But further west, it's all about the rain and the strengthening winds.
00:51The rain likely to cause some problems.
00:52We have Met Office yellow warnings in place from parts of Northern Ireland, South Wales through southwest Scotland and southwest England for the afternoon, as well as this next pulse of rain comes in.
01:03So quite a wet day in parts of the west because it's been so wet recently.
01:07This extra rain could cause some flooding, certainly some disruption to the transport network.
01:11Apart from the odd shower, much of the Midlands, eastern England, will have a dry day, along with much of northern Scotland also.
01:17So it is going to be pretty mild for most places.
01:20But after that cold start, temperatures will struggle across northern Scotland to get much above 9 or 10 Celsius.
01:26And with the rain through central Scotland feeling pretty chilly, I imagine.
01:30Elsewhere, again, 14, 15 above average for the time of year.
01:33But, again, not feeling all that pleasant.
01:35With the gusty winds, they will be quite lively around these western coasts.
01:38And that heavy rain, which, if anything, like to get heavier through the evening rush hour and continue well into the night, particularly in southwest Scotland.
01:46Should start to clear as we go through the night from western areas.
01:49We'll see some of that rain getting to the east.
01:51But it doesn't linger here, so it moves through.
01:54Could stick around across southernmost counties of England through the night.
01:58And it's likely to still be across northern Scotland first thing on Wednesday morning.
02:02Generally, another pretty mild night.
02:05There will be some clearer spells, so we might dip down to single figures.
02:07But generally, these temperatures will above the average for November for a night time at minimum.
02:12As we go into Wednesday, a bit of a sunshine sandwich, really.
02:15We're going to have thick cloud and some outbreaks of rain across east dangling in the southeast.
02:18After a largely dry day here on Tuesday, a very different feel for Wednesday.
02:22The rain, again, could be heavy in return to parts of Wales and southwest England, so that needs watching.
02:27The rain likely to linger over northern Scotland for most of the day.
02:30So, again, a very different day here.
02:31But a drier, brighter day to come on Wednesday across southern Scotland and northern Ireland.
02:36That's the central zone away from the south, where we've got winds coming up from the south.
02:41And in the north, where the winds are coming down from the north.
02:43So, quite a cold-feeling day in northern Scotland with that wind chill only 9 or 10 Celsius.
02:48Later on, cold enough for a few snow flurries over the hills of Scotland.
02:53But further south, again, exceptionally mild, where it brightens up.
02:56Across the south, we could get up to 16, maybe 17 degrees Celsius.
03:00So, quite a contrast with those temperatures.
03:03Plenty going on then throughout this week.
