00:00Hello there, good evening. It got rather chilly last night. Many areas went down to the low
00:05single figures. Tonight, though, is set to be much milder. Why is this? Well, there's
00:10more cloud around, a bit more of a breeze, certainly across the far northwest. Quite
00:14windy here, in fact, with the strongest winds eventually easing away, but it's still often
00:18going to be quite blustery. Heavy rain slowly sinking its way across Scotland, Northern
00:23Ireland and northwest England towards the early hours of the morning. For many areas,
00:28though, it will remain dry just to the south of this rain. A bit cloudy, though, it may be a
00:32little
00:32bit grey to start into Thursday morning. Most towns and cities remaining around the mid-teens, but as
00:38that rain clears towards the far northwest, turning a little bit cooler here. Now, through the course
00:44of Thursday, this rain band will slowly sink its way southwards. It doesn't move very quickly,
00:49so that means for areas of southern Scotland, northwest England, eventually northwest Wales,
00:54they're likely to see quite a wet day, certainly for Cumbria. Across any hilly areas here,
00:59we could see a fair amount of rain. Turning brighter once that rain clears, though, a fair few
01:04showers towards the very far northwest, but this is where it's likely to turn that bit fresher
01:09towards the far south and southeast, remaining fairly warm ahead of that front in the sunny spells.
01:15Temperatures still pushing into the low 20s here, but turning more closer to average towards the very
01:19far north. Now, this cold front will eventually clear its way southeastwards. It's still fairly
01:25slow through the course of the evening, just about drifting into East Anglia, southeast England
01:30towards the early hours of Friday. Behind it, once again, it will continue to turn that bit cooler,
01:35rather chilly for some areas where we see those prolonged clear skies through the course of Friday.
01:40Still a few showers towards the northwest. That'll hold up temperatures here, but under any clearer spells,
01:46particularly in rural spots, that's where temperatures once again could dip down to the low single figures.
01:50But holding on to that slightly milder air across the southeast, where we continue to see that cloud
01:55and rain for that little bit longer. Now, through Friday morning, it will eventually clear the southeast.
02:01It could be a little bit slow in places across parts of East Anglia, London and Sussex and Kent,
02:06but it will eventually clear, certainly by the afternoon, turning brighter for all with some sunshine.
02:11But as you can see, there are also some showers on the cards.
02:14But if you do catch any showers, it's likely it will be quite changeable with some sunshine
02:19soon following along. Now, what you will notice on Friday, that temperatures have come down,
02:24no longer pushing into the low 20s, more towards the low to mid-teens for many areas
02:29and closer to average for this point in October.
02:32So a little bit showery to end on Friday, feeling cooler. That cool, fresh feel is likely to remain
02:38into the weekend, some quite chilly nights with some frost in places.
02:41But it looks like for many areas, it should remain dry and settled, all thanks to high pressure
02:46crossing into the country by the weekend. So for many areas, it should be dry.
02:51There will be a return of some sunshine. Some showers could feed in from a northerly flow
02:55around some coastal areas. But for the large majority, there will be lots of pleasant weather
02:59for the weekend. If you want a bit more of a forecast on the weather ahead,
