15 November - National Evening Forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good evening.
00:01We'll end up with a north-south split tonight, turning colder for some but remaining fairly
00:06mild for others, and it really depends on how much cloud we'll see.
00:10Now across Scotland, plenty of clear skies, so temperatures soon dipping away here, it's
00:14likely we'll see quite a widespread frost, particularly in any rural areas, and the cloud
00:19soon sinking towards the south, so Northern Ireland, north-west England will start to
00:23see plenty of clear skies, so turning much chillier here, but across Wales, central and
00:27southern England, cloudier skies will remain.
00:30This will produce some drizzle at times, and also some quite murky conditions once again
00:34across the south.
00:35We may even see some fog here by the morning, so temperatures across the south remaining
00:39at around 9 to 10 degrees Celsius, but across the north, the low single figures, and quite
00:45a few areas likely to dip below freezing.
00:47So still a fairly mild start across the south, still plenty of cloud across the skies though,
00:53but the good news is it will be brightening up, cloud often sinking towards the south,
00:57so allowing plenty of sunshine to develop.
01:00Now mostly dry for many areas, though we can't rule out some showers, particularly across Scotland,
01:06any exposed north sea coasts could see the occasional shower or two.
01:10But for most, dry with some sunshine, though it is going to be feeling very cold.
01:14We had a very mild week last week, so people are certainly going to notice the chill Sunday
01:19afternoon.
01:20Highs still reaching around 11 to 12 degrees Celsius, but elsewhere the highest single figures,
01:25or the low double digits, but it's really going to feel chilly in those brisk northerly winds.
01:31Now through into the evening we'll see many more clear skies, so once again temperatures
01:36soon dipping away across the country, but particularly once again across Scotland, northern parts
01:40of England and Northern Ireland, where we're expecting another widespread frost, more patchy
01:45frost across Wales, central and southern England, but less so across the far southeast.
01:50Still mostly dry, though can't rule out some showers around any eastern coasts, but it is
01:55going to be feeling much chillier for all as we head towards Monday morning.
02:00So a cold start to the new week, but once again mostly dry with plenty of sunshine.
02:06More clouds starting to fill the skies across the far north of Scotland, some showers here,
02:11and once again we still have some blustery showers that could drift in around any eastern
02:15coasts.
02:16It could even bring a sprinkling of snow, mainly across Scotland, but we could see some winteriness
02:20in those showers if they do skirt past any highland areas.
02:25But for most, temperatures are going to be returning to average for the time of year, but because
02:29those northerly winds are going to be quite brisk, it is going to be feeling much chillier.
02:34So more towards the mid-single figures for many, but feeling more like freezing across parts
02:38of Aberdeenshire.
02:40So the cold air is here to stay, will continue to plunge down from the Arctic, spreading its
02:46way across the country through the early and middle part of next week.
02:49But if you're not a fan of the cold weather, well there might be something slightly milder
02:53on its way, but of course with the mild weather, it also comes with some wind and rain.
