00:00Just how many push-ups can you do in one go?
00:03Well, fitness instructor Brent Elder made just to test your ability when he hosts a fitness fiesta tomorrow at the National Racket Center.
00:10He is doing it in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Table Tennis Association.
00:15We need to reset fitness, like I keep telling people, from all the years of our sport, if you get fitness wrong, you will get sport wrong.
00:23Because when you see some of our athletes perform, you see some foundation stuff that would have been missing.
00:30And sometimes in the midst of the battle, you try to correct it or let them know about it.
00:35You know, you're trying to correct it, you say, hey, you know, this and this.
00:37And then you realize, look, hey, fitness, certain things needed to be done and just be done naturally.
00:44Apart from educating the public on how to properly execute a warm-up and other training methods,
00:49he says the event is also being used as a fundraiser for athletes with the cost of registration being $100.
00:55Plus, it's to get some funds for our athletes as well.
01:02Because working with teams and athletes over the years, sometimes they have their official budget.
01:07So for athletes, an event must spring up on an athlete.
01:11And it might be important for qualification, whether it be for Olympic qualification or points or standing or ranking.
01:17He's hoping individuals of all ages turn up, especially men.
01:20And I'm hoping that the men, I really want to challenge men in Trinidad and Tobago.
01:26Men, as the local saying goes, men not menning.
01:30So I'm going to show men that morning just how much more we need to do as men, the older adults and over the years.
01:39So you have done a lot with sports.
01:41I've seen you have lost a lot of school children to diabetes and heartache.
01:45So there's plenty going on behind the scenes in that one workout.
01:50The event runs from 7 a.m. to midday.
01:52Sergio Dufour, TV6 Board.
