Transcript
00:00Head coach Duane Bravo was all smiles upon returning home on Monday afternoon
00:05after Trinbago Knight Riders won the 2025 edition of the Republic Bank CPL.
00:11TKR beat Guyana-Amazon Warriors by three wickets in a low-scoring final at Providence Stadium
00:15with two overs to spare.
00:18But Bravo is not only involved with cricket since he was recently appointed as sports ambassador for TNT.
00:23I'm happy, you know, I've been representing my country, you know, two decades
00:30and I always see myself as an ambassador whether it's official or not.
00:35But now as it's official, I'm going to definitely do my role and play my part
00:39to make sure that from a sports and culture point of view,
00:43Trinidad and Tobago is up there with the rest of the world.
00:46Having retired from cricket last year, Bravo has more time to focus on other things.
00:50That includes working hand-in-hand with the UNC government, which returned to office in April 2025.
00:57You know, it's good that we have a government that sees the importance of sports and culture
01:02and I know they're going to support some of my ideas and I'm just looking forward to it.
01:06And, you know, the sports minister was there in Guyana. He was part of our celebration.
01:11With so many negatives that citizens have been experiencing,
01:14Bravo finds it refreshing that the country accomplished quite a bit in September.
01:18And that too because of sport, which he sees as the vehicle to take the Twain Island country forward.
01:24This week, some of our athletes, again, Kishon and Jurem, what they have done.
01:31That's the beauty of sport. Sport is the only thing that unifies the nation.
01:35There is no red or yellow, black or white when it comes to sport.
01:39So it's important for us as a people to treat sport with some respect
01:43and give the athletes what they deserve.
01:46Bravo's achievements for the West Indies include three ICC titles in 2004, 2012 and 2016.
01:54Vinod Nawani, Chiefs Sport.
