Saturday is the day for ringside action as the 'Road To Glory' event is on at the Woodbrook Youth Facility.

Fighters from T&T, USA, Suriname, Jamaica and Guyana will be participating at the event.

Speaking at Friday's presser at The Chancellor Hotel, local MMA boss Jason Fraser felt it was important to promote the sport in T&T.
Transcript
00:00The Woodbrook Youth Facility is the place to be on Saturday for mixed martial arts action.
00:05That's because the Road to Glory event is on and it focuses on youth, junior and senior amateur MMA.
00:12Jason Fraser, who is the vice president of the IMMAF Pan American Confederation, says it is important to promote the
00:18sport in the Twin Island country.
00:20That is what we need. For us, basically, that's why we are committed to have at least eight local events
00:25this year.
00:26This is our second one. We were crazy to do one in the middle of Carnival and it's to give
00:30the athletes the opportunity and the platforms that they can develop because the more activities they have, the better it
00:35will be for them at the end of the day.
00:37But it has to be a collective effort. When we have an event, coaches, athletes need to actually market the
00:43event, spread the event, promote the event, promote yourself.
00:47It is the only way it could work because the hardest part of this is funding.
00:52Fraser is also hoping corporate sponsors can come on board to support the sport.
00:57Also giving this event the thumbs up is pro fighter Joash Walkins, who is not a participant.
01:02However, Walkins is a coach and will be focusing on how the fighters perform.
01:07I'm glad to see that we actually have a proper team around us that we could further this sport and
01:14we could propel this sport to higher heights and deeper depths and stuff like that.
01:18And I'm happy to be part of this community and I hope one day we could have UFC fighters coming
01:24out from the Caribbean and stuff like that.
01:26Just focusing on the name Road to Glory, one person gives his take on it.
01:30He's Warren Gill, who is the chief official at the event.
01:33When I saw the name Road to Glory, I looked at it and I was like, hmm, it's pretty nice.
01:42Because there is glory at the end of the road.
01:45There's a lot of glory.
01:47I sit for many international tournaments and I hear these people's anthems play and I see them when they achieve
01:55World Championship status.
01:57I see them cry.
02:00I see them kneel.
02:03I see them extremely jubilant.
02:05They don't even know what to do with themselves.
02:07I see that glory in them.
02:09I see it from their presidents.
02:10I see it from their politicians.
02:12I see it from their coaches.
02:13I see it from their families, their children.
02:16The action starts at 6 p.m. with gates opening an hour earlier.
