Coach Rayad Emrit says Trinidad and Tobago's cricketers are confident going into the third round of the Regional Four-Day tournament against Leeward Islands starting tomorrow in St. Kitts.

At the same time, Emrit is not taking the Leewards for granted as they are on top of the standings.

The T&T Red Force coach spoke with TV6 via phone from Basseterre.

00:00After earning innings victories against both CCC and Windward Islands Volcanoes, TNT Red
00:06Force have a more challenging assignment against leaders Leeward Islands Hurricanes, who also
00:11won both their matches.
00:13Coach Riyad Emrit is pleased with the preparations, saying the team is optimistic going into the
00:17game which bowls off on Wednesday in St Kitts.
00:20I think the players are in very good shape, mentally, physically, coming off two victories.
00:27It's in a good place to be.
00:29We're third on the table.
00:31Still, you know, we have two victories.
00:35I think the bonus points is why we are third, but we're in a very good place.
00:41The guys are very confident.
00:42What is very important for us is to stay focused and try to concentrate on what we've been
00:47doing in the last two games.
00:49We're taking control of what we can control and we're doing it consistently.
00:55If you want to play aggressive cricket, be positive, but not reckless.
00:59I think that's the mantra in the team.
01:01Emrit has utmost respect for the Hurricanes, who defeated TNT the last time both sides
01:06met at Warner Park in 2024.
01:09Having said that, the 43-year-old is ready for the challenge between the two informed
01:13teams.
01:14They're top on the table and they're playing at home.
01:16They're a very strong team.
01:17They're a very good team.
01:19We know they obviously have Azari Joseph back into their line-up, who's a world-class player,
01:26but I think we have a lot of good players, very good players in our line-up who can dominate
01:32at this level.
01:33We see guys who have been doing well consistently.
01:37Hopefully we can carry on and take each game as it comes.
01:41Emrit was previously the assistant coach and took over as the man in charge after David
01:46Furlong resigned to return to Queen's Park Cricket Club.
01:49As such, the new man at the helm has been able to fit in with the players.
01:53The guys, they've gelled together.
01:57I have a very good rapport with all the guys and we've been doing very good things.
02:02We just need to do it consistently.
02:04I keep reminding them that we need to do the good things consistently if we want to get
02:08better.
02:09They are adapting to change and we've been doing some things differently.
02:15They welcome that.
02:16Sometimes that's the hardest thing to do.
02:17While the first two games for TNT were day-night fixtures, with the use of the ping-ball, the
02:22third round clash is a day game.
