00:00TNT Sports Ambassadors were out in full force on Saturday as Nicholas Puran, Kishon Walker, Dwayne Bravo and Karen Pollard all joined Sports Minister Philip Watts for a high-profile meeting with several national sporting organizations.
00:14The Ambassadors were on hand to share insights and advice on shaping the future of sport in Trinidad and Tobago.
00:20A total of 53 national governing bodies took part in the session at the Hesley Crawford Stadium, engaging in direct dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing local sport.
00:32Organizers, organizations rather, were also urged to strengthen financial literacy and accountability and were reminded of the importance of compliance in reporting to their respective bodies.
00:43Well, sports, as you know, is a UE fire and it has proven how it brings people together, especially for good.
00:51And in this case, it is to aid Jamaicans reeling from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
00:56And American Olympic champion Noah Lyles and his Jamaican fiancée, Junali Bromfield, teamed up with Asafa Powell and others to deliver critical aid to communities.
01:06You know, people are really suffering right now and, you know, as much as I can help, you know, I will help.
01:13I'm in a better position to help and I see a lot of people helping, you know, but definitely big thanks to Noah Lyles and General Bromfield.
01:22My community is always helping me out, whether it was in high school, going to pen relays, they raise money, taking me to school for free, so I really want to hear about it.
01:33You know, the more people come together, the more people we can feel.
01:37I learned a bit here, where I was wanting to meet a silver medalist.
01:41We know that you have the intent to help keep people in your prayers, keep Jamaica in your prayers and just help if you can.
01:46All the NBA storms down the lane and the San Antonio Spurs' hot start just got cooled off by, guess who?
01:54Well, no other than the Phoenix Suns.
01:57Victor Wimbamiana had a ray-off night, finishing with just nine points, while Devin Booker turned up the heat, dropping 28 points to lead the Suns to a 130-118 win.
02:08Third quarter, Devin Booker in no rush, takes his time to find the opening, step back, jumper over Stephon Castle.
02:16Money off the Williams screen, Booker feeling it from mid-range, and it's good, but Castle responds in a big way, pulls up from deep downtown and drills it.
02:26He finished with a team-high 26 points, seven boards and five assists.
02:30Castle and Booker now going head-to-head.
02:31Booker answers once again, turnaround jumper, pure, as Phoenix keeps control.
02:36Look at this spin.
02:38You can't guard that tough shot from Book.
02:40Fourth quarter now, Johnson shows flashes, rises for the slam, right through the middle, off two feet, but it's Booker closing it out.
02:51That smooth mid-range jumper, his bread and butter, can't let him get to those spots because there you have it, another splash.
02:57Booker leads the way, Booker goes for 28 and 13 assists as the Suns take it, 130-118.
03:02And tennis drops in near court, where Yannick Sinner made the improbable dream a reality as he returned to number one ranking after winning the Paris Masters on Sunday.
03:13Meanwhile, on the women's side, it's a tense showdown in Riyadh as the world's best battle it out in the season-ending WTA finals.
03:21The Italian beat Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in the final to pick up his fifth title of the year.
03:29Sinner is the first player to win a trophy at this level without dropping a set since Carlos Alcarez at Indian Wells in 2023.
03:35The top two in men's tennis will now head to the ATP finals in Turin as the race to end the year as world number one goes down to the last tournament of the season.
03:43The past couple of months has been amazing, you know, we tried to work on things, trying to improve us as a player and seeing this kind of results makes me incredibly happy.
03:55And, yes, you know, another title this year. It has been an amazing year no matter what comes now in Turin.
04:03Irina Sabalenka has already ensured she'll finish the year as the number one women's player.
04:07The U.S. Open champion is now targeting her first WTA finals title and she's made a strong start in Riyadh, beating Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-1 in her opening match.
04:19Sabalenka faces Jessica Pagula in her next group match.
04:22Fifth-seeded Pagula got the better of fellow American Coco Gough in three sets.
04:26Last year's champion Gough with some work to do if she's to successfully defend her title.
04:31She plays Paolini next.
04:32All right, let's hit the links, and she may only be a rookie, but she was the best player at the LPGA MiBank Championships as Japan's Miyu Yamashita held her nerves in a three-way playoff to secure the title.
04:48Four-year-old Japanese player triumphed in a three-way playoff to secure her second career title in only her first full year on the tour.
04:56An impressive victory for Yamashita, having started the day eight shots behind the leader.
05:01And football slides into the mix as River Plate's struggles deepened while rivals Boca Juniors tasted success once more,
05:09while LAFC sealed victory in their playoff opening round.
05:12And Kevin Molino's former team Columbus crew forced a decisive match in their Eastern Conference playoff series.
05:19The problems continue for Argentina's most successful club, River Plate.
05:23They had a penalty saved right before the final whistle in a 1-0 defeat to Gymnasia in the Premier Division's closing tournament.
05:31It is River Plate's fourth straight loss at home in all competitions, but they are still sixth in the table and on track to make the knockout stage.
05:38It was the opposite story for their great rivals, Boca Juniors.
05:44They scored a 97th-minute penalty to win two-run away at Estudiantes.
05:49Boca are top of their group and are now all but guaranteed a place in the knockouts with two games remaining.
05:54In the Major League Soccer playoffs, LAFC are into the Western Conference semi-finals.
06:05Son Heung-min scored one and Dennis Buanga got two as they beat Austin FC 4-1 to wrap up their first-round series.
06:12LA will now face the Vancouver Whitecaps for a place in the Western Conference finals.
06:16LAFC are relentless!
06:20Johnny Bussey entering the frame.
06:22In the Eastern Conference, the Columbus crew have forced a deciding game in their series against FC Cincinnati.
06:28Max Arsson scored one and set up two in the 4-0 win for Columbus.
06:32The decider is in Cincinnati on Saturday.
06:34Well, sometimes it all goes according to plan.
06:42It's all clear today.
06:46Inter Milan were given a real fight against Hellas Verona in Italian Serie A.
06:52Verona were moments away from a deserving draw but an own goal in the 93rd minute would give the Nerazzuri a vital victory.
06:59While the winner was special, Inter Milan's opening goal was even more spectacular.
07:03A goal from the heavens!
07:07Cialanolu trying something different and Zielinski with the extraordinary...
07:13So for pulling off a training ground special with a thumping one-time volley, Piotr Zielinski smashes his way to tonight's TV6 Plays of the Day.
07:23Oh, so wondering what was going to be that goalful play of the day?
07:27Well, there we go, even better.
07:28Alright, that's it for sport.
