00:19just a green thumb here's a look at mcfarland toys dc multiverse dc classics platinum edition
00:25poison ivy poison ivy is more than a simple supervillain she's a complex creature often
00:36appearing more plant than human ivy is an eco-terrorist and the lives of plants are a main
00:40concern while her objective of saving the planet from mankind's pollutants and deforestation is a
00:44noble one the means by which she works towards her goal are borderline insane making her another
00:49formidable figure in batman's rogues gallery how many of you may know this but pamela eisley's
00:54favorite song is every rose has its thorn the irony by the way is not lost on me that is
00:59performed by
00:59the band poison speaking things that are poisonous let's actually look at poison ivy this is by the
01:04way the platinum edition of her that much like the regular version i grabbed on the facebook
01:08marketplace for how tall pamela eisley is going to be i'm clocking her in at about six and three
01:14quarters of an inch poison ivy works out to be a figure that's about 17 centimeters tall i don't
01:19know if mcfarland's been messing around with the chlorophyll in order to change the color of this
01:22criminal but the platinum pamela really from a body standpoint is no different than the regular
01:27release of her pick your poison as to which pamela you prefer on the shelf or be like me have
01:32both of
01:32them on display another poison ivy i happen to have on display and one of the best likenesses i feel
01:38from
01:38a movie tie-in toy comes to us from the batman and robin line comes of course played by uma
01:43thurman
01:43or ivy's accessories mcfarland essentially has picked the same ones the figure first of all does come
01:48include i'm going to stop with that by the way she does come with a circular dc logoed stand that
01:52has the dc disc time done in silver walking distance from that oh is that a weed no it's a
01:59peg that can
01:59plug into either one of her feet the figure does also come included with this exact same trading card
02:04as the previous pamela it does say mcfarland collector's edition on the side i like again this
02:10image this is by the way the same image that was on the back of the package for poison ivy

02:14also things are on the back uh her real name is pamela lillian isley pamela lilly isley yeah
02:23also there's a read-up that you can pause and read for yourself happens to also be the same thing

02:27already read at the beginning of this review so i i saved yourself some time you may then spend that
02:31time swapping out the hands the figure does come include with a couple of them um technically i've to
02:36be fair i've actually already swapped out this hand uh what i swapped it out in favor of was i

02:42this hand right here she has a gripping hand on technically both sides of her body but then you
02:46could swap out one of them with this hand which to look at this and kind of think back to
02:52speaking
02:52of batman and robin where pamela isley was kind of blowing off that toxic mist that controlled
02:57everybody's minds well the men's minds men are i guess easier to control
03:02she blew out this mist though from her hand and i guess if you really want to kind of replicate

03:06same look she comes included with that as well it could also just be a fallen leaf she just found

03:10leaf that fell from the tree she stopped to ask the tree if the tree was okay and the tree

03:15leave me alone if you did want to swap out the hands by the way the hands are pretty easy

03:21i mean basically you're just going to hold on to the forearm easily pop that off find the hand you
03:25want to swap it out to and pop it back in place now she really doesn't have necessarily things to
03:31hold
03:31anyways so i'm i'm actually really rather fine with the idea of actually having her with the flat hand
03:36on one side and maybe then this gripping hand on the other the thing about it though is the figure
03:41still doesn't come included with like a rose or something like i don't know she could have still
03:45i feel had something to hold in her hand now one actually one viewer mentioned this as a suggestion
03:50that they have done with their own figure and i i kind of like this idea with the hair being
03:54soft
03:54plastic like this what they ended up doing and i've done this myself is you can actually take the hair
04:00hair and have it almost look as if she's kind of just like pulling her hair well not pulling her
04:05hair out but she's sort of like tangling her hair in between her fingers that's i don't want to
04:10generalize but that seems to be something that i find a lot of females like to do they just sort
04:13of
04:13twirl their hair in their fingers so you could technically do that too if you want now she does
04:18also come include the exact same accessories from the vines just put her down here for a second
04:23she comes with two vines one is a longer bigger one that should really in theory go around her leg
04:28the other one is a little bit smaller that can wrap around her arms now they are a little bit
04:32different i'm going to grab like to like vines the vines this was the one that came include with
04:37the regular version this is now the one that comes include with the platinum edition see how this one
04:40is a little bit more of a darker lettuce or spinach green this one looks like it's if i had
04:46lettuce
04:46that was this color i probably would throw it away that lettuce looks like it's gone bad but speaking
04:51of things that are going bad you can go ahead and actually wrap this around her arm sort of just
04:56start at one
04:58end i'm not going to spend a lot of time doing this but we're just going to wrap this quickly
05:01around her arm like that and you can then also do the same thing with her leg start at the
05:06top
05:07work your way down snake that around and then you've got yourself like a little vine that goes around her
05:12leg i don't happen to have it on the other poison ivy just because again i i already removed it
05:17just to
05:18show you guys the differences of the colors speaking of colors by the way the obvious one would be the
05:23fact that obviously she's now got green skin instead of just let go for a second she has now
05:28green skin instead of just the regular skin tone again you know i look at these two figures and i
05:35think that there are things that i like about one and there's things i like about the other but i
05:39don't
05:39know if collectively i would say that they are good by only the sums of their parts i don't think
05:44that we have a perfect poison ivy but i do think though like from a head standpoint i like this
05:49one more
05:50than i like this one and i think like what would have made this face sculpt look better well first
05:55of all i still think it looks like wwe's ava marie the hair is notably though lighter this one's got
06:00now a more orange hairstyle than the red that we had before obviously again the skin is a little bit
06:05different there but also too like the leaves that she has on the front are much more of a darker
06:10green
06:10that i feel like this green would have worked better on this figure obviously it would be next to
06:15impossible to swap these around um what's also interesting too is that the original poison ivy
06:21the regular version had like like sleeves sleeves on her arms where what they've done instead they
06:26have still kept that little flower piece here on the top but they have just only gone in there and
06:31painted i guess they would have molded the rest molded the rest all in the light fared green skin
06:35color so it's still different from one another even though essentially it's using the same body
06:41i guess it's also too like depending on where you entered into reading comics i read comics like
06:46in early 80s like late kind of i wouldn't be late 70s i wasn't even born yet well i guess
06:50i was born
06:51late 70s nobody cares just move on in the 80s and into the 90s i was really well into reading
06:57batman
06:58comics and for me poison ivy always was really more depicted as just kind of something that was
07:03dressed like peter pan essentially really with just having red hair and regular skin also the batman
07:09animated series also kind of did the same thing it wasn't really until like like later iterations
07:13of poison ivy that she started to develop this darker green color i don't think it's necessarily
07:18bad but i think though between the two if i had really the choice i would probably have just stuck
07:23with the regular version i say that though i still think that i like the aspects though of the face
07:28works okay with this but i have to just kind of wonder to myself like had they only had a
07:33chance to
07:33change out the hairstyle made it even more different than the regular version even with only just a few
07:39things that they've changed so obviously again like she doesn't have the sleeve for example but
07:42had it been a case and i know this is just involving him to re-sculpt brand new parts to
07:47a figure that
07:48they really don't want to sculpt brand new aspects if they can really just re-release the same figure
07:53having very little changes at all to the mold obviously they're going to do that i think though i
07:59would have liked if the hair had been a little bit different so maybe i don't know maybe if this

08:03had had curly hair this one would have had still this straight hair that she has right now
08:07just something more just to separate the two the face is still pretty there's this kind of 30s vixen
08:14look that i really like about poison ivy again even though i'm not as crazy about the green skin myself
08:19again i like the color though for the the leaf that she has here or kind of like the top
08:23that she's got
08:23i think i like it a little bit more again like would this would this color have worked with this
08:29body
08:30maybe it's too close of a green i'm like looking at the skin i'm like looking at i think it
08:36would have
08:36worked and i would have had again the darker green on this one and kept the lighter green on this

08:42but again like the skin and well the body is going to be exactly the same she's got the sculpted

08:47their vines that go all down her leg i think those look really nice and those by the way aren't
08:51just
08:51painted either they have taken suitable enough time to actually sculpt that into the leg it would
08:57likely mean too that they probably can't use these legs again other than just another release of
09:01poison ivy she has still high heels the other one also had high heels again a little bit different
09:06of a color again there is there is enough changes made i feel like i i'd be more bothered by
09:13the fact
09:13this figure having maybe the same exact hairstyle hair color but being that this one does have an
09:18orange hair makes her a little bit different than the regular version we already looked at had to look
09:23at for the figures articulation she's going to be exactly the same so her head is going to be on
09:27that ball joint she has hair and well obviously i'm stating the obvious with having softer hair at
09:33least it doesn't seem too bad of an idea to rotate her head without feeling like the hair is going
09:37to
09:37get in the way i can easily rotate the head all the way around and move the head up and
09:41down it doesn't
09:42really seem like the hair gets in the way all that much unlike the recently looked at wonder woman
09:46arms also rotate fine nope no issues there at all you can hinge them out at 90 degrees now with
09:52also
09:52these arms they have very smartly hidden the the swivel cut though for the bicep just right around
09:59the area of the vine and obviously this one did it too but this one does it right where the
10:03gloves
10:03glove ends this one hides it a little bit easier because again like everything here is molded in
10:08green plastic so you got the swivel here you got the double hinge in the elbow and the hands rotate
10:13all the way around with a hinge back and forth the top of the torso is going to be in
10:17a ball joint
10:18further from that the abdomen is also doing the same the legs do split out now i don't know if
10:23you can hear this or not i'm sure you probably could hear a little bit more if i stopped talking
10:28for a second but there's some nice ratcheted joints on the legs always seems to be the case
10:32forward and back on the on the legs they go there's a swivel there at the top of the thigh
10:36double hinge on the knee articulation up and down for the ankle now i like the fact that the ankle
10:42looks seamless like this that you don't see a very obvious slit some people think that that makes
10:47the ankle look a little chunky there is a bit of a color separation where like the ankle does look
10:52like it's a different color than the feet because again they probably would have molded these in green
10:56plastic and then tried to color match the top of the shoe it's yeah i feel it's pretty close but
11:02again the ankle moves up and down you can rock it back and forth figure does also have pickles on
11:06the
11:06bottoms of the feet you think i would have only used the joke once but i'll say this again pick
11:11your
11:11poison when it comes to poison ivy which one you actually like a little bit more i like i think
11:16both of them for different reasons completely i think if i was just to pick one poison ivy i would
11:21likely have gone with this one just for me at the time that i was growing up and reading comics
11:27again in
11:27the in the mid mid to late 80s and also throughout the 90s that would be more the poison ivy
11:32i would
11:33recognize also batman animated series does the same technically the new adventures of batman also
11:38decided to change the color tinting it green making her a little bit more like a plant so if
11:43you liked maybe the new adventures batman or again the subsequent appearances of poison ivy and like
11:48the the arkham games for example where she had kind of more the chlorophyll chlorophyll skin this
11:53probably would be the better poison ivy to pick just because she's also still actually you know what
11:57we'll put poison ivy here from the movie i didn't even really get a chance to bring in a batman
12:01so
12:02here's just nightfall batman we're actually getting a whole bunch of nightfall figures there the
12:06nightfall catwoman really is one i'm super interested to get but yeah i think she scales
12:10really well i think honestly for me i i would like rather the silver age coloring of poison ivy myself
12:16but i can definitely see why people would have picked this one up in favor of this one if you
12:21don't mind that the colors don't match what you could also do too is use the accessories from the
12:25other poison ivy and double up the amount of vines that are wrapped around her body on this one
12:29i kind of like that because again like she's kind of more now plant than she is human so the
12:34idea that
12:35she would just be completely enveloped by vines makes a little bit more sense in my mind that i
12:39might just end up doing that with this poison ivy and then leaving the other one that i like more
12:44without the vines actually on her body that's one thing too that you can have where the two characters
12:50two figures are going to be very separate from one another not just with the color that they have
12:53but also the pose that you put them into poison ivy still doesn't have coming included with her like a
12:58flower or something that she can hold in her hand but again like one of the viewers did suggest this
13:02and i i like this idea i'm going to do that with the other poison ivy is actually have that
13:07extra
13:07finger piece the the part that sticks out instead of actually holding a flower why don't it actually
13:11hold the end of her hair the hair at least is soft enough and you can actually quite easily get
13:16that
13:16to in between her fingers and her thumb i think that's an incredible idea uh in the end though i
13:21i think
13:21still i like the other poison ivy just a little bit more because again like where i plant myself
13:28where i plant myself where i read was reading comics at the time poison ivy seemed to look more
13:33like the other one not so much this one i can understand now why people let her into like the
13:38arkham games and more the modern iterations of poison ivy probably would end up favoring this one
13:43over the other i grabbed this one again from the facebook marketplace from popeye the toy man actually
