00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:04A new high-tech pothole machine will be trialled in Derbyshire in a bid to boost the quality and longevity of repairs across the county.
00:11JCB has made an agreement with Derbyshire County Council to trial one of its £200,000 pothole pro machines in the county.
00:19It follows a visit by members of the Derbyshire Reform Administration to the JCB factory in August
00:24and a trip from National Reform Legion Nigel Farage in the weeks before the local elections.
00:29JCB says the Pothole Pro can repair 250 square metres of road per day,
00:34fixing a pothole in around 8 minutes at a cost of £30 per square metres of patching.
00:40The machine carries out three separate jobs usually done by individuals for the highway staff,
00:45including cutting out the pothole, cleaning it and then cropping the edges.
00:49JCB estimates that one machine will be able to repair around 700 potholes each month.
00:54Volunteers at a Matlock charity shop are toasting a milestone this month as they celebrate 40 years on the high street,
01:03serving customers in the community and changing the lives of young people around the world.
01:07The Save the Children outlet on Bank Road was one of the first charity shops in Matlock when it opened in 1985 and has continued to thrive.
01:15Throughout its history, the shop has relied on the goodwill and commitment of volunteers,
01:19who give up a few hours each week to staff the counter and sort through the endless stream of donations arriving through the door.
01:25New volunteers are always welcome and anyone interested in helping the team make it to 50 years
01:31and making lives better for children both in the UK and overseas can call into the shop to find out more.
