00:03A quarter of a million pounds is set to be spent trying to stop illegal parking near a popular Peak District hiking hotspot.
00:10Derbyshire County Council is set to use £250,000 in transport funding from the East Midlands Combined County Authority to target problem parking at Rush Up Edge past Mam Tor.
00:21The County Council, Peak District National Park Authority, High Peak Borough Council and Police have all been flagging issues at the area which is located past the popular hiking spot for several years.
00:33This came to a head in January last year when a reported 200 cars were double parked on Rush Up Edge during heavy snowfall.
00:40They blocked access for council gritters as well as emergency vehicles attempting to aid an injured walker in Edale.
00:45The County Council is set to agree to spend the money provided from the City Regions Funds via EMCA for the installation of infrastructure to better manage visitor parking on street in Rush Up Edge.
00:56In July, the County Council had run a consultation on restrictions in the area including making Rush Up Edge a red zone which would prohibit vehicle stopping there at any time.
01:06The recently opened £5 million Community Diagnostics Centre at Walton Hospital in Chesterfield has been granted an additional £7.5 million to further enhance digital facilities just weeks after first opening its doors.
01:20The additional investment from NHS England is being used to upgrade facilities for MRI and CT scanning, bringing them into a new extension to the building rather than being housed in mobile vans outside the Diagnostics Centre.
01:32The additional funding is also being spent on creating a dedicated paediatric audiology room and introducing DEXA scanner which helps diagnose conditions like osteoporosis as well as assessing fracture risks.
