29 August - national forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning.
00:02Did you hear any thunder last night?
00:03Well, if not, you might hear it across parts of the southeast this morning.
00:06We've got some heavy outbreaks of rain here across Sussex and Kemp, for example, eventually
00:11pushing into parts of East Anglia through the course of the morning.
00:14So heavy downpours, possibly some hail and thunder before we eventually say goodbye to
00:18this feature through the afternoon.
00:20Behind it and across most of the country, we'll see another day of sunny spells and
00:23showers, most showers pushing through into western areas where once again they could
00:27be heavy, otherwise fairly similar temperatures to what we saw yesterday, highs reaching 21,
00:32possibly even 22 degrees Celsius.
00:36There'll still be some showers lingering on through the course of the evening, patchy cloud
00:40and a mix of clear skies.
00:41We'll see still a few showers just starting to creep into the west, but most showers across
00:46England and Wales are becoming isolated, so quite dry and where we see any clear skies,
00:50it will turn a little cooler and fresher by the time we reach Saturday morning.
00:54But it should be mostly dry and bright for many of us, particularly across the far east
00:58and southeast to start the day.
00:59But don't let it fool you, there is another system waiting out into the Atlantic, pushing
01:03in more cloud and also heavy outbreaks of rain at first across Northern Ireland and then
01:07into western areas of England and Wales.
01:10And western areas of Scotland too will start to see these heavy outbreaks of rain as we head
01:14through the early hours of the afternoon.
01:15Not just heavy rain but also some quite strong gusty winds associated with this feature, particularly
01:20around any exposed spots of the west.
01:23Staying mostly dry across the east for the first part of the afternoon before this feature
01:27eventually pushes its way through, so that's where we'll see the best of the temperatures.
01:31Highs once again reaching around 20 to 21 degrees Celsius.
01:35But it is certainly going to be quite a breezy day, quite strong gusts in the west to finish
01:39off on Saturday.
01:41And the unsettled theme does continue for the second half of the weekend, all due to this area
01:45of low pressure sitting out into the north west, dragging in quite widespread outbreaks
01:49of rain and showers at times.
01:51And also take a look at the tight isobars on that screen as well, plenty of strong winds
01:55particularly in the north west to finish off the weekend.
01:58But if you want more details on this weekend's weather, we can catch Alex Deacon on YouTube.
