00:00Modern-day idols have come from a different ring.
00:03The adoration for the Mexican masters of the sweet science transcends fight fans and encompasses the entire republic.
00:11Mexico's favorite son is Julio Cesar Chavez, the undefeated three-time world champion and the undisputed king of the ring in his native land.
00:21Tonight, we bring a blend of Mexican sports.
00:24From the full ring known as El Torreo, where matadors once enter to face their moment of truth, we present three world championship fights.
00:34Julio Cesar Chavez, considered pound for pound the best fighter in the world, defends his WBC super lightweight crown.
00:42Edwin Rosario makes his first title defense of the WBA junior welterweight title.
00:48And knockout artist Julian Jackson, the WBC middleweight champ, faces another challenge.
00:54Coming up from Mexico City, it's Showtime Championship Boxing.
01:05A big crowd, capacity crowd of 16,000 expected at El Torreo in Mexico City.
01:21An arena that was originally built in 1910 in another part of town and then moved brick by brick to this site in 1945.
01:29More recently, a dome was added.
01:32Many years ago, El Torreo was home to some of the greatest bullfighters in the world.
01:36Well, they haven't had a bullfight here since 1970, but tonight, El Torreo plays host to some of the greatest fighters in the world.
01:46Hello again, everybody.
01:47Steve Albert, along with the fight doctor, Ferdie Pacheco, and welcome to another edition of Showtime Championship Boxing.
01:52We have come tonight to a very, very unique site, a bullring.
01:56I've got to get your impressions, first of all, of this very unusual venue.
02:00Well, I've seen a lot of bullrings in Spain and a lot in Mexico,
02:03and they all bring the same quality of excitement that tonight has brought here.
02:08But when it comes down to it, the boxers are only worried about what goes inside of those ropes and on that canvas.
02:14So today, instead of seeing blood and sand, we're going to see blood and canvas.
02:18How do you feel about the three champions on tonight's card?
02:21Chavez, legendary Hall of Fame guy, going to fight a tough guy in Hernandez.
02:25Never been knocked out, never been knocked down, and he brings a lot of patience and skill to this fight.
02:31Julian Jackson, the guy on the way up to taking Chavez's place as a legendary fighter
02:36because his career is just taking off.
02:39He has less of a test today against Collins, who shouldn't be scared of him.
02:43He's worked with him as a sparring partner.
02:45The matchup today is Rosario versus Aranaka.
02:48Rosario has had no trouble gaining the title, but he has trouble holding on.
02:53And in Aranaka, he's got a samurai who has come across the Pacific not to lose.
02:58All right, Ferdi, as boxing returns to its roots here in Mexico City.
03:03Three champions looking to defend their world titles.
03:06Mexico's favorite son, Julio Cesar Chavez, out to hold on to his WBC's super lightweight title.
03:12Meanwhile, Edwin Rosario hopes to retain his WBA junior welterweight crown,
03:17while Julia the Hawk Jackson will try to remain the WBC middleweight king.
03:21A big championship tripleheader as Puerto Rico's Angel Hernandez attempts to do what nobody else has ever done,
03:28and that is beat Julio Cesar Chavez in this, his seventh title defense.
03:33Edwin Rosario makes his first title defense as a junior welterweight against a game and very tough,
03:39Akinobu Hironaka, all the way from Japan.
03:42Hironaka, the number one rated challenger.
03:44And can Ron Collins upset his old sparring partner, Julian the Hawk Jackson,
03:49making his third title defense and shooting for his third consecutive first round knockout.
03:54Our first, Bob, the WBC middleweight championship, Jackson versus Collins.
03:59We got to see Jackson his last two fights.
04:01Two first round knockouts, including one in 50 seconds over Ismael Negron in his last fight.
04:07Is this going to be just another Julian Jackson execution,
04:09or is Ron Collins more of a quality opponent?
04:12Well, the thing that had those two guys get knocked out before they walked in
04:15was they were scared to death of Julian Jackson.
04:17He inspires fear, something like Tyson used to do with people.
04:21Now, he shouldn't do that to Collins because Collins has worked with him in the gym,
04:25knows him, there should be no surprises here.
04:27Still, you're facing Julian Jackson.
04:29He is the Hawk, and he has got a powerful punch.
04:32Did Collins make a mistake by arriving in Mexico City as late as this past Monday?
04:36All the other fighters have been here for several weeks, may battle the altitude problem.
04:41That may, it's kind of a lackadaisical attitude to come in,
04:44although experts say you only need four days if it was my fighter,
04:47and I was facing Julian Jackson.
04:48I'd be here two weeks ahead of time in tip-top condition.
04:51All right, Bertie, it's Julian the Hawk Jackson
04:53versus Ron Collins for the WBC Middleweight Championship coming up,
04:58and Julian Jackson, a young man who often fights as if he's double-parted.
05:07All right, we've already been to do the instruction one time,
05:10and we'll put the championship of the world.
05:12Expect a tough, clean fight.
05:14Protect yourself at all times.
05:16Any questions from the championship?
05:18Any questions from the champion?
05:20Let's get it on!
05:21Come on!
05:24Jackson's looking to end it in the opening round.
05:27And down goes Milton!
05:34He does not look like he is going to get up.
05:36He looks like he's part of the fixture.
05:38He's part of the canvas.
05:39The magician is down for the count.
05:43I expect a tough, clean fight.
05:45Any questions from the champion?
05:47Any questions from the champion?
05:49Let's get it on!
05:49When a guy comes up against a real champion,
05:53what's happening is what's happening right now.
05:56There he goes with a left hook!
05:59Seconds into the fight!
06:00The crowd is down!
06:03Five!
06:08Jackson's in the wrong neutral corner.
06:10He's ushered over by Mills Lane.
06:13Six!
06:14So that's a break for DeGroze.
06:16I don't know if that's a break.
06:17If that's a break, I don't want any of those breaks.
06:19Well, it's all over.
06:20It's all back.
06:21It's a move.
06:22Ismail DeGroze in disbelief.
06:25But you're right.
06:26He probably just saved his life.
06:28From the opening bell, he had no idea
06:30of what it feels like to be in with a talent
06:32as sharp and as fast as Julian Jackson.
06:38And here is the Hawk, WVC middleweight champ Julian Jackson,
06:42who does not like to waste time.
06:4411 first-round KOs, including his last two,
06:47and that last one, which ended in 50 seconds against Nick Rohn,
06:51the quickest KO in middleweight championship history.
06:5343-1 with 41 knockouts.
06:5614 consecutive victories all by KO,
06:59a man with explosive power.
07:01And the challenger, Ron Tequila Collins,
07:05out of the Lone Star State, rated number nine by the WVC,
07:07appearing in his first world title fight.
07:10A southpaw, 21-1, just seven knockouts.
07:14A very successful amateur career,
07:16and once the number one rated amateur middleweight in the world.
07:19Collins was once Jackson's sparring partner,
07:21but he told us the only thing he learned from that
07:23is how good a puncher Jackson is.
07:25Collins hasn't fought since last August,
07:27claiming organizational problems,
07:29but says he has trained hard for this fight.
07:33Let's check the numerical breakdown.
07:35To the tail of the tape,
07:36the veteran Jackson at 31, Collins 28.
07:39Collins with the half-inch height advantage.
07:41At 159-and-a-half, Collins one pound heavier than Jackson,
07:44and the two-and-a-half-inch reach advantage to Jackson.
07:47And to the rules, according to the WVC,
07:5010-point must system,
07:51three judges scoring the fight,
07:53no standing eight count,
07:54no three-knockdown rule,
07:55only the referee can stop the fight,
07:57and a fighter cannot be saved by the veil
07:59except in the last round.
08:02So here at El Torreo,
08:04which means bullring in Spanish,
08:06we are set for the official introductions

10:51Welcome.
10:52The former WBA junior middleweight champion tonight,
10:55defending his WBC middleweight crown,
10:58demos la bienvenida al sensacional Julian LaHawk Jackson.
11:07Aquà está el referee Guaranupe GarcÃa.
11:12Come on here, please.
11:15Well, remember,
11:17the foul discount points,
11:19may a gunfight,
11:20power or clean.
11:21Good luck to win the bets.
11:23Go to your corners.
11:23Yes.
11:37So we're getting set for the WBC middleweight championship.
11:40Two-time world champion Julian Jackson
11:42will be wearing the white trunks
11:44with the Virgin Island motif.
11:46The challenger, Ron Tequila Collins,
11:48wearing the silver
11:49with the black trim.
11:52The referee
11:52is Guadalupe GarcÃa
11:54out of Mexico City.
11:55All the judges are from Mexico City,
11:58and we are set to go.
11:59Round one scheduled for 12,
12:00and right off the bat,
12:01Collins comes out,
12:02bomb it.
12:04He certainly didn't wait to even dig ass.
12:06He went right to it.
12:09Julian Jackson,
12:10devastating puncher,
12:11likes to apply pressure
12:13from the opening bell usually.
12:15Excellent hand speed.
12:17He trains to go the distance
12:18despite so many quick endings.
12:21Well, let's see how he handles
12:22the left-hander.
12:23Collins is very fast for left-hander.
12:26Confuses you with a lot of moves.
12:28Jackson may be perplexed
12:29in the first round or two here
12:31as he tries to figure out
12:32how to come in.
12:34If Collins can at least survive
12:36the first round,
12:38he'll have some confidence.
12:39That's 36 of Jackson's 41 knockouts
12:42in four rounds or less.
12:44Collins,
12:45a natural right-hander,
12:46converted and stayed lefty.
12:48Sound technician,
12:49likes to go with combinations
12:50to out-point opponents.
12:52Very aggressive,
12:53average hand speed,
12:55but his punching power
12:56underestimated.
12:58Not that much movement
12:59from Julian Jackson
13:00as far as circling away
13:02from that left hand
13:02or trying to do anything different
13:04than fighting him
13:05just like he would fight
13:06a right-hander.
13:07He hasn't shown any,
13:08any adjustment in his style.
13:10He's just going straight ahead.
13:11And as we mentioned
13:12on the open,
13:13Collins should be
13:14more of a quality opponent
13:16for Jackson
13:17than we have seen
13:18in the recent past.
13:19Well, one thing is different.
13:20He's not frozen.
13:21He's certainly not scared
13:22of Julian Jackson.
13:23He's fighting here
13:24with a lot of brillo,
13:25with a lot of spunk.
13:27Good, hard,
13:28right jabs.
13:29And down goes Jackson.
13:33But it was a slip.
13:35Total slip.
13:38Jackson's showing
13:39that's too aggressive
13:40and he's reaching too much,
13:43meaning Collins is befuddling him
13:44with that style right now.
13:46He has not figured out
13:47what to do with that.
13:48And just going in
13:50and throwing a punch
13:51like that,
13:52reaching like that,
13:53is going to get him nailed
13:54in the counterpunch.
13:55Ron Collins has never
13:58been knocked down.
13:59Jackson, a familiar
14:00opponent for Collins,
14:01a former sparring partner
14:02for the Hawks.
14:03But he says
14:04he doesn't think
14:05it'll be an advantage
14:06because guys don't fight
14:07in the same way they train.
14:10The only advantage he has
14:11is he knows he's a human being
14:13and he's good,
14:14but he's not Superman
14:15and that's given him
14:17a lot of spunk
14:18here in his first round.
14:19Collins doing very well
14:20in this first round.
14:21Collins in the silver.
14:23Does feel Jackson
14:23may have trouble
14:24with his southpaw style.
14:27He'll be coming at him
14:28from a different angle.
14:30Less than 30 seconds
14:31in the opening round.
14:33An impressive one
14:34for the challenger overall.
14:37Collins told us
14:38if he learned anything
14:39from sparring
14:40with the champion
14:41is that the man can punch.
14:42They just got hit.
14:43Collins just got hurt
14:45with a good right hand.
14:47Collins got hurt.
14:47It's only 10 seconds.
14:49Eight.
14:49He might survive this.
14:53Eight.
14:54Collins staggered
14:55as we head for the bell.
14:56Collins staggered
14:57as we head for the bell.
14:57All right.
15:05All right.
15:09He's gone.
15:09I'm going to go.
15:11All right.
15:12He's going to go.
15:13All right.
15:13let's check out the slip you see he was much too anxious to throw a punch and he got hit and
15:35counter on the way now jackson doesn't ever quit see that right hand that's the kind that'll put
15:41i got look at collins doing a dance right there all his nerves are jangling and it's all he could do
15:45to survive a knockdown there all in all he did a wonderful job in that first round except for that
15:51one punch that julian jackson landed round two scheduled for 12 for the wbc midway championship
16:01and i would not be surprised if collins won that first round on the judge's cards well one punch
16:07doesn't uh doesn't make a round and he has one few minutes to survive julian stepping on the boot of
16:15collins oh boy and jackson looking to pick up the pace oh julian's in there he's in there to destroy
16:23to finish the man has got a heavy punch as julian jackson if collins gets tagged lights out well he's
16:32already felt that right hand and got him in bad trouble and he's beginning to fight a lot more
16:36cautious there's that right hand again didn't land flush collins doesn't have much room to roam
16:42it's a very small ring 16 feet
16:45and a warning from referee guadalupe garcia jackson measuring collins out
17:01jackson showing no respect for the punching power of collins won't you take a shot to come in but boy what he's throwing
17:10it's straight bombs straight bombs from julian jackson
17:15college told us he'll let jackson come to him and counterpunch there's a heavy right by jackson and collins is tied up in the corner
17:24oh collins almost hit the referee
17:30guadalupe garcia and now jackson wheeling away
17:33that punch just put you out that right hand is something devastating
17:37by julian jackson
17:39it's now a matter of time as julian jackson has
17:45caught him in the first round and now closed him in the second this is what jackson does so well
17:51there's a pretty good left hand by collins that got through
17:58and a combination by collins
18:00there he's up

18:53And round two going into the books.
19:06No, fight it, box it.
19:12He's too strong, fight it.
19:14You hear me?
19:15You hear me?
19:17Ron, you hear me talking to you?
19:18But get out that box you got.
19:19If you stay still, take your left hand out.
19:22You don't fuck with him.
19:23You're too strong for that shit.
19:25Look at him.
19:25Look at him.
19:27You hear me?
19:28Okay, let's get out that box.
19:30Let's go.
19:31Let's go.
19:31Let's go.
19:32Let's go.
19:32Look like you're alive.
19:33Are you awake?
19:34Do you feel that?
19:34Do you feel that?
19:35God damn it, wake up.
19:37Let's get out that box.
19:38Hey, look at me.
19:39Start boxing, God damn it.
19:41What are you talking about?
19:43Box Collins.
19:43Oh, what a shot that gets him in trouble.
19:47But Julian Jackson unable to finish him.
19:50As Collins then comes back and looks like he had a brief moment where he landed solidly on Jackson.
19:57Not enough to keep him off a big round for Jackson.
20:00And it seems to be even as we head into round three.
20:05Trainer Al Potato Pie Bolden wanting Ron Collins to mix up his punches and jabs and stay out of Jackson's reach.
20:12Box him.
20:13He thinks people don't know how good a fighter his man Collins is.
20:16And look out.
20:22Oh, Guadalupe Garcia almost became a victim.
20:25That's the second time.
20:26That almost happened to us.
20:30Strange things happen in Bull Rigs.
20:32Yes.
20:34Julian back to the body.
20:35Digging where it hurts.
20:37Right on the side of Collins.
20:39Taking the legs right out from under Collins.
20:41Watch those rapid punches, says referee Garcia to Jackson.
20:48There you go.
20:48That's what I want.
20:49That's what I want.
20:50Now Jackson flicking the jab.
20:54Looking to set up the big right.
20:56Hey.
20:58There you go.
20:59There you go, Ron.
21:00Come on.
21:00How you sure?
21:01Come on, Ron.
21:02Now this is what Collins corner did not want.
21:05They don't want him to fight with Julian Jackson because of his superior strength.
21:09He's much bigger and much stronger fighter.
21:12You just don't want to maul and push with him.
21:15Those little hooks by Julian Jackson are starting to add up.
21:19Crisp left call.
21:20And at the right by Jackson.
21:22He's got Collins in trouble.
21:25A ferocious right hand.
21:28And now Jackson's looking to finish it.
21:30What a survivor, Collins.
21:31But what a punishment he's taken to the body.
21:34Collins showing tremendous heart.
21:38He's hanging in there.
21:40And he stumbles off the ropes.
21:42What body punishment he took.
21:48Approaching the final minute of round three.
21:50Julian looking a little ragged there.
21:52Maybe mad that he didn't put him out.
21:54A good right hand by Julian Jackson.
21:55And that's Steph Collins' head back.
21:59Boy, what's keeping Collins up?
22:00He is getting hammered with these shots.
22:03There's two right hands in a row.
22:04Three.
22:06And a hook.
22:06Oh!
22:07Collins came back with a good hook.
22:11Collins unable to protect his head.
22:13Now he comes back with rights.
22:15And a light staggered Collins.
22:17Big right hand by Jackson.
22:19Boy, Collins has got a lot of heart.
22:21You've got to give Collins a lot of credit.
22:23What heart on Collins.
22:25Vital 30 seconds of round three.
22:28Can Collins survive being better here in the third?
22:31You get the feeling that all Julian has to do is step on the gas and he's got him out.
22:36Collins has no legs, but he comes back with a combination.
22:39All that is is desperation on the part of Collins.
22:44Julian's got him where he wants him, but won't close.
22:46Collins may be fighting on instinct here.
22:49Rubbery legs in the final seconds of the third.
22:52And Jackson lets him go.
22:58And we're going to a point.
23:04He's dead tired.
23:08He's dead tired now.
23:10You're going to talk everything you had.
23:11You're going to talk everything fucking thing you had now.
23:13Go out there and go.
23:16Spin it a well.
23:17Spin it a well.
23:18Spin it a well.
23:18Spin it a well, do you understand?
23:20Spin.
23:21We don't care why you spin.
23:22Spin it a well.
23:23Let's go.
23:24Let's go.
23:25Listen, son.
23:25You don't want this motherfucker.
23:26Come on.
23:27Leave it here.
23:29You got the part now.
23:30This is the first time he really got Collins in trouble all the way back.
23:34You would get the feeling those ropes weren't there.
23:36He'd still be backing up.
23:37Later in the round, he didn't quit.
23:39He just came right back with some more.
23:42There's an incredible heart beating in Collins
23:45and also a great ability to stay up because he should have gone down.
23:48Still, Julian Jackson is not showing the killer instinct that he had before
23:53and he looks exhausted in this corner.
23:56It's only the fourth round.
23:57It should be the altitude.
23:58These ropes are extremely tight and they may have saved Ron Collins.
24:03You can't hurt me, Julian.
24:05Well, he's talking to him.
24:07Collins is talking to Julian Jackson, saying,
24:10now, you had your innings, that gun fight turn.
24:12Very confident young man from Houston, Texas.
24:16Joying away with Julian Jackson.
24:18Julian not saying anything.
24:20You got a feeling that he's going to punctuate that with a left hook.
24:23Collins just saying, come on.
24:25Come on.
24:27Come on, Ron.
24:28Come on.
24:28Come on.
24:29A courageous Ron Collins.
24:34Julian got a little smile on his face like saying,
24:37you're talking to me, Chuck?
24:38Are you talking to me?
24:40If I'm Collins, I don't know if I take this strategy.
24:44But it might take his mind off of mayhem
24:47because Julian is prepared to get this guy out of here.
24:51Jackson looking like he's measuring Collins out.
24:59Again, sticking the left jab.
25:02And now some wrestling tactics by Collins.
25:05And he finally managed to get Collins down,
25:08although it doesn't count.
25:09And he's being cautioned by Guadalupe Garcia.
25:20Julian not as sharp now.
25:22Not as fast now.
25:23You get to wondering if he's gotten so used to these one-round knockouts
25:27that he forgot he's got to keep on going when he doesn't knock the guy out.
25:32Good punches on the part of Collins.
25:34Not hit much, but at least it's an offensive.
25:36Jackson's only defeat to Mike McCallum in 1986
25:41from the WBA junior middleweight title, a second-round knockout.
25:47But he is so accustomed to putting opponents away early.
25:52You got to wonder if the altitude, the pollution, the smog
25:56taking its toll on Jackson because this is very uncharacteristic.
26:00Why wouldn't it be on Collins?
26:01He's the one that shortchanged the training.
26:04Well, he's the one that should be short.
26:06But it seems to be working the opposite way.
26:09I think Julian just loaded up too much in those two rounds.
26:11Didn't get the result he wanted.
26:13And he's got to get his gas tank back in gear.
26:16He's got to go to that extra gas tank.
26:18He doesn't look sharp.
26:21Does Julian Jackson?
26:22Well, Collins told us he thinks he has the ability to outpoint Julian Jackson.
26:29He's going to be around to hear the points if he keeps taking those right hands.
26:33And he continues to jaw away at the champion.
26:36Those punches met in mid-air.
26:41And Jackson forced back.
26:44Combination by Collins.
26:46How has Collins got anything left to come back like that?
26:49That is really good conditioning on the part of Collins.
26:52An amazing reserve for Ron Collins.
26:55Final seconds of the round number four.
26:57Come on.
26:58Come on.
26:59Come on.
27:00Come on.
27:01Come on.
27:02Come on.
27:32Tremendous atmosphere at El Torreo in Mexico City.
27:50They haven't had bullfighting here in 22 years, but they're trying to bring it back on Thursdays
27:56and make it a regular thing.
27:57Co-wrestling very big here at El Torreo.
27:59They also have opera and concerts.
28:02And now boxing.
28:05This is round number five, scheduled for 12 for the WBC Middleweight Championship.
28:10And so far, Ron Collins in the silver out of Houston, Texas,
28:15showing tremendous determination against the champion, Jackson.
28:17Come on.
28:18Come on.
28:19Come on.
28:19Get out of there.
28:21Come on, man.
28:23Work it.
28:24Come on, Ron.
28:25Jackson not even looking like he wants to mix up right now.
28:29He's just kind of taking this round right now and just going easy.
28:33Tonight is the third title defense for Jackson.
28:48He is 7-0 in title fights.
28:50Nice right-hand lead by Julian, but there's no steam in it like there were in the last three rounds before round two and round three.
29:01I think he's going to have to get stung to get back to fighting again.
29:04Combination by Jackson, and Collins just talks to Jackson.
29:09Whoa!
29:10And, once again, Collins is stung.
29:14And let me tell you, that was great.
29:16He should have gone down, but he's there.
29:18He's still there, Collins.
29:20Still weaving and bobbing.
29:21Now he goes down, finally!
29:23Three, four, five, six, seven, eight, six!
29:31He gets up at seven!
29:32That could be it.
29:34That's it.
29:34That is it.
29:35Julian Jackson with a big knockout.
29:39It happens here in round number five.
29:42And Julian Jackson with a big smile, the very game.
29:46Challenger, Ron Collins, showing tremendous courage.
29:53Julian Jackson, who used to be in a street gang as a kid growing up in the Virgin Islands,
29:58turning his life around with boxing and religion.
30:01His father, his brother, a pastor, helped him tremendously.
30:13And the challenger, Ron Collins, being consoled.
30:16That's his wife.
30:23Jackson now, 44-1 with 42 knockouts.
30:30It did happen in the first round, but he'll take it.
30:32Watch how he got him in trouble.
30:34Collins with that short hook.
30:35Look at his legs.
30:36They're all gone.
30:37Julian says, go on down.
30:38But he doesn't.
30:39He has to work some more before he gets the brave, intrepid, and hearty.
30:44Collins down.
30:45Ron Collins really gave it a shot tonight.
30:48Humbling him.
30:49You see how many times he's missed there?
30:51Until finally, it's just too much.
30:53And Collins goes down a brave effort, but Julian Jackson overwhelmed.
30:59Let's take another look at that.
31:00Watch the hook.
31:02Now the hook right there.
31:03And wow, look at that dance.
31:05That means all circuits are going out.
31:09And then, of course, nobody can finish like Julian Jackson today.
31:13He's got such a heavy hand.
31:14Even if he misses you three or four times, he'll finally hit you that one shot.
31:18And there you go.
31:19And that was it.
31:22That right hand was too much for the weary but brave, Ron Collins.
31:27And he went down and out.
31:29So Collins falls to 20, 1-2 now.
31:32And Julian Jackson retains his championship.
31:40Julian the Hawk Jackson is now the one doing the talking.
31:43We're standing by with the official announcement from our ring announcer, Jimmy Lennon, Jr.
31:48Ladies and gentlemen, we have the time.
31:58One minute, 37 seconds.
32:01In round number five, ladies and gentlemen, we have the time.
32:06One minute, 37 seconds.
32:09In the fifth round, the winner by way of knockout,
32:13the winner by way of knockout,
32:15the world champion, WBC middleweight titleist, Julian the Hawk Jackson.
32:21So there you have it.
32:29Julian the Hawk Jackson retaining his WBC middleweight title.
32:34The embrace with Ron Collins.
32:38Coming up, two more championship fights, both of the 140-pound weight divisions.
32:43We've got Edwin Rosario taking on Akinobu Haranaka for the WBA junior welterweight title.
32:49And our main event, undefeated three-time world champ, Julio Cesar Chavez,
32:53Mexico's native son in the spotlight against Angel Hernandez
32:57for the WBC super lightweight championship.
33:04So we are set for post-fight interviews in the ring with the both combatants.
33:09It should be interesting.
33:10Let's go up to first.
33:11Woo!
33:12Julian, it looked like you got a little tired
33:17when you got them the second and third round.
33:19You were in such great shape,
33:20and then all of a sudden you looked like you ran out of gas
33:22and picked it up again when you knocked them out.
33:23Well, first of all, Freddie, let me say thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
33:27I would just like to say, Mike Tyson, we love you enough you're watching the show,
33:30and I pray that God will talk to you and just deal with you there,
33:33wherever you are.
33:34We love you, Mike.
33:35All right.
33:36We're looking at the end of the fight, Ron.
33:38Let's look together.
33:39Our monitor is just flickering on and off,
33:42but we're looking at this powerful hook.
33:45Ron, this is what you call the dance of unconsciousness, my man.
33:47Yes, I did.
33:50What happened, I went off in, and Julian is so strong that he threw everything off that I wanted to do.
33:55I wanted to go out and box him, and he started throwing power punches,
33:58so I wanted to do the same.
33:59I wanted to sit in there and try to take his stuff and give him something back,
34:02but he was a stronger man.
34:04All right.
34:05You were a brave and determined fighter.
34:07Julian, did you have any doubts about knocking him out?
34:09After all, you hit him with everything but the kitchen sink.
34:11Well, I had no doubts whatsoever,
34:13but I knew that his saltpock stand would have given me a little trouble, you know,
34:16in coping with it.
34:18Most of the champions have trouble with saltpock,
34:20and I had my trouble,
34:21but I must say that I knew that Ron Collins couldn't take my punches.
34:25I knew he was a good boxer.
34:26I knew he was going to try to survive the rounds,
34:28and I just had to go out there and put the pressure.
34:31The fact that you sparred with him before,
34:32did that help you any, or does it make any difference?
34:35It doesn't make any difference, and I think Ron knows that.
34:38One of the things that seemed to confuse you was he kept talking to you all during one of those rounds.
34:41What was he saying?
34:43Well, he was trying to get me to punch myself out,
34:45and I realized it, so I held back, you know,
34:48and I let him make the mistakes.
34:50So he talked himself out, and you knocked him out.
34:51Definitely.
34:54All right.
34:55Don King, I see behind me someplace.
34:58Here.
34:58Don King, you got a middleweight here.
35:00I don't see who could beat.
35:01How can you keep from making big killer matches for this guy?
35:04Well, they all are afraid to fight,
35:05and we're looking right now to fight Tiberi.
35:08That's one of the guys who fought with Tony.
35:10We want to fight Tony.
35:11Tony, in fact, we're supposed to make a match with Tony
35:14when he gets through tomorrow, if he's still, if he's a successor.
35:16We are ready, willing, and able to unify the title
35:19with Julian Jackson.
35:21And we also want anybody out there,
35:23in Columbia, anyone that will come and fight.
35:25Julian, I'd like to thank Don King for this opportunity again
35:28to be here in Mexico.
35:29I love the Mexicans, and they are so beautiful and warm.
35:32And I also like to say thanks to ProVantage
35:33and everyone else that's been supporting me.
35:35All right.
35:36One last night.
35:37Good night from Ron College.
35:38You had a brave night, Ron.
35:39Yeah, I would like to thank Don King and John Julius
35:42now so for giving me the opportunity to fight for the title,
35:45and I hope they can let me come back and fight again.
35:47Well, you're a brave man.
35:48You deserve another chance.
35:49And so back to ringside.
35:51Hi, Virgin Island.
35:52On Jubilee Diamond, please tell us.
35:54Number one in boxing.
35:56We put the best with the best.
35:57We don't try to pick matches for guys
35:59that they can get easy fights, but not easy fights.
36:01Now back to the disaster.
36:03Believe it.
36:04Oh, quiet.
36:05Wait a minute.
36:06It's Steve Albert at ringside is dying to talk to us.
36:10All right.
36:10Thanks very much, Ferdy.
36:12Coming up, former three-time lightweight champion.
