00:11That's according to Dr. Nicole Manning, CXE's Director of Operations.
00:15If you look at what happened in 2022 to 2025, but still not where we want it to be.
00:23Just to share that Electronic Engineering Technology Unit 1 recorded the highest absenteeism.
00:31For CSEC, likewise, the reduction of absenteeism continues, but 32,000 is still too many candidates absent from across the various subject areas.
00:43Dr. Manning also revealed that thousands of students failed to submit their SBAs on time.
00:49We also saw a reduction in terms of the SBA candidate entries, noting that you had 2.14% of the students deciding not to submit SBA to teachers.
01:04In other words, the teachers selected on the platform, or when they are submitting the SBAs, the I did not receive an SBA from the candidate.
01:13Meanwhile, CXE CEO Dr. Wayne Wesley said the regional body is rolling out a new program, the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate, aimed at supporting students who learn differently.
01:25He said 3,000 students have already registered.
01:27The Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate, and what that will do is bring a lot more flexibility in catering to the individuals within the school system,
01:40taking the current CSEC standards syllabus and breaking that down into modules, related and relevant learning outcomes that students can take in steps and progression towards achieving their certification.
02:00Dr. Wesley said the pilot project will allow CXE to identify subject areas where students may struggle.
02:06Under come 2026, as part of its digital transformation strategy, CXE says artificial intelligence will be introduced.
02:15That come January 2026, we said this, that we will multiple choice, the multiple choice exams will only be done electronically.
02:24And for the paper 2s and the paper 3 tools, those will be done what we call hybrid, where the questions will be displayed on the computer and the students will write.
02:40And this is a part in their answer booklet, and this is a part of the digital transformation thrust.
