00:00A life lived with strength and determination driven by a passion to help others is how
00:07counsellor for Separia East San Francic South Ramona Victor was remembered during her funeral
00:13service on Thursday afternoon. 36-year-old Victor and her common-law husband were found dead side
00:20by side in their Separia home on Sunday afternoon. Autopsies concluded she died due to blunt force
00:26trauma to the neck and head while he died from ingesting a poisonous substance. Today she
00:32was eulogized by her sisters. Her commitment to her community, her passion for service and her
00:40tireless efforts to uplift others leave behind a powerful legacy, one of leadership, compassion
00:47and love. To the family and friends of Rodney Ramsemer, who we have come to know and love,
00:54we bear no malice or hate as we understand you are also victims in this tragic situation
01:01and we also encourage you to be strong in this difficult time. Attending the funeral service
01:08was Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Bissessa who greeted the parents and prayed with the teenage
01:13son of Victor, praising the counsellor for the national and personal impact she made during
01:20her life. Her loss profoundly affects me, not just as a leader, not just as a woman, but as a mother.
01:34She was a child to me. To her family know this, Ramona was seen, she was heard, she was valued and she
01:46was deeply loved. The Prime Minister says no one should have to suffer in silence.
01:52Her life will not be defined by her final chapter. Behind the counsellor Ramona was a woman
02:00who faced private struggles whilst still showing up for others with smiles, with hope and love.
02:10Always strong. Always strong. Always strong. Her story served as a reminder that no one should endure
02:21their pain in silence and help must be accessible to anyone who feels unsafe.
02:29Prime Minister Passat-Bissessa says while government will do its part, citizens also have a role to look
02:36out for one another.
02:37As your Prime Minister, I will affirm our commitment to strengthen the systems that protect families
02:46in distress. However, the responsibility also lies with all of us, neighbours, relatives, friends
03:00and every caring individual. Let one part of her legacy be this. More people should reach out
03:10for help and more of us should respond in compassion and offer help when needed.
03:17In her memory, Mayor Doudnat Meru of the Separia Borough Corporation, where Councillor Victor served,
03:23says they intend to rename the street she grew up in from Victor Street to Ramona Victor Street.
