The Trinidad and Tobago Powerboat Association held its parade and boat show on Ariapita Avenue, with the Great Race just two weeks away.

TV6 was part of the action with Vinod Narwani and camerawoman Kerry Patrick present at the site on a hot and lively day.

00:00It was an electrifying atmosphere on the avenue, with a parade and boat show taking place on Saturday afternoon ahead of the TNT Great Race.
00:08Members of the public made their way to the Adams-Smith Square for a day loaded with activities.
00:13The focus was on the vessels, which will be racing from Trinidad to Tobago on August 16th.
00:18Also present was Stephan Lewis, who is the president of the Trinidad and Tobago Power Water Association.
00:23For the new man at the helm, this is a moment to cherish.
00:26The Great Race for me, it means a lot, because I started off loving the races, because of just one friend telling me,
00:39yo, come to the summit of the regatta's, and after that I was hooked.
00:43And from since then I basically moved my way into, well, becoming the treasurer, which was last year,
00:50and then now I am the president of the association now.
00:53Ballistic is one of the boats racing in the 25-spec class, and driver and owner Niklas Baladin is ready for the big day.
01:01Well, this year's Great Race will be my third Great Race.
01:05A little more confident, the vibe is good.
01:08I'm actually enjoying it, because I get a little accustomed from the property reverse years, so I just, I can't wait.

01:19Speaking of which, throttleman Nikolai Assam was enjoying the atmosphere in Port of Spain.
01:24We are so much fun, we are making new fans, we are meeting new people.
01:27Everybody is enjoying the entire parade, the boat show is on the avenue right now,
01:31and it's just happiness and love, and love.
01:34Trinidad Tobago is love, and everybody is, like, literally remember that.
01:38It's just so much love on the avenue, and we just appreciate it so much.
01:41After the party, it's back to business with the participants working day and night to get the boats ready for race day.
