00:09Reinvent the look that got you eliminated.
00:13This is Silk.
00:13Get out of this aisle.
00:15I haven't done a lot of sewing.
00:18Remember that twist I mentioned?
00:20This season, there is no immunity.
00:23What?
00:24Seriously?
00:25The winner is...
00:27Congratulations, King.

00:29What?
00:30No!
00:31Victor, Nora, and Karassan, you received the lowest scores.
00:36Nora, I'm sorry you're out.

01:10This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:13All right, guys.
01:15It's time to leave the past behind.
01:21Thank you, guys.
01:23You're taking a little field trip tomorrow.
01:25Okay.
01:26Yeah.
01:27I'm listening.
01:28So I'm gonna send vans to your hotel in the morning.
01:30Meet me at Rockefeller Plaza.
01:32First thing.
01:33Oh, .
01:34Okay.
01:35Okay.
01:36And it's gonna be a wild one.
01:37Oh!
01:38Can we go home?
01:39Can we go home?
01:40How are you?
01:41How are you?
01:42How are you?
01:46How are you?
01:47How are you?
01:48How are you doing this?
01:49How are you doing this?
01:50.
01:51Cameras everywhere.
01:52Enjoy.
01:53Good.
01:54I wonder what's happening.
01:55What is this shit?
01:56It's a toy, follow me.
02:09Where are we going?
02:12Where are we going?
02:13Where are we going?
02:14Come on, little Christian, come on.
02:17Oh my goodness.
02:19Good morning boys and girls, I mean designers.
02:22Welcome to our world of toys, F.A.O. Schwartz.
02:25Christian is waiting for you inside.
02:40It's amazing.
02:43What are you doing in here?
02:45Welcome to the iconic F.A.O. Shorts.
02:49It is time for Project Runway's Most Feared.
02:54Oh, dang it!
02:55Most revered and famed way to torture designers.
02:59Yes.
03:00The Unconventional Materials Challenge.
03:04Okay, I'm happy now.
03:06Fun and whimsy are widespread across runways everywhere now.
03:10Tom Brown doing Teddy Bear Top Hat in Milan.
03:13Gucci models were sporting gremlin bags and skirts.
03:17And Moschino just sent models down the runway and pool floats.
03:20Your Unconventional Materials Challenge is to create whimsical runway looks from toys.
03:29All the toys you see here.
03:32This is a two day challenge.
03:34Yes!
03:35Oh!
03:36You're not going to want to see a whole dress made out of stuffed animals.
03:40That's the fabric.
03:41That's not impressing anybody.
03:43You have 45 minutes to shop.
03:45Okay.
03:46And you each get $2,000.
03:49Yeah!
03:50Now for your models.
03:52Okay.
03:53Grab a bear.
03:54Cute!
03:55Oh my God!
03:56Those are your models.
03:58Oh, wow.
03:59Oh, that was who I had.
04:01Back to your spots!
04:02Back to your spots!
04:03Back to your spots!
04:04Back to your spots!
04:05Okay, go!
04:09I mean, what's this?
04:11Come on, baby.
04:12This is insane.
04:13What are you getting?
04:14Uh, kind of red and black and white stuff.
04:16What else is new?
04:17I'm like a few primary colors.
04:18Listen!
04:22Ah, unconventional again.
04:24Let's go back to season 19.
04:26I went home on this challenge.
04:29As a kid, I loved toys.
04:31But growing up in Haiti, I've never really got them.
04:34People are trying to survive.
04:36Okay, let's just put it that way.
04:38But first time in the United States, my mom was just showing me around.
04:41And, you know, she took me to her food chores.
04:43I was still young.
04:44And I thought it was the most magical place.
04:47I feel like my hoo-ha is out.
04:50I've always been interested in fashion.
04:52I've always been a high-maintenance queen.
04:54My favorite thing to do as a kid was dress up.
04:57I'm talking, like, my great-great-grandmother's furs,
05:00with the satin gloves.
05:01Like, I wanted the good stuff.
05:03To me, whimsy is making sure that this thing is fun and playful.
05:06You cannot be getting...
05:08You don't need any more of these.
05:09You don't know that.
05:10I don't know that.
05:11That's a lot.
05:12One of the coolest parties that I ever had when I was a kid,
05:15I think I was probably, like, eight years old.
05:17My mom bought a bunch of blank teddy bears from the dollar store.
05:20And then she and a couple friends helped us make our own customized teddy bears.
05:23And it was so cool.
05:25I gotta say, that was one of the things that really got me going as a designer,
05:28seeing them work.
05:29If I've made clothing for teddy bears, I'm sure I can make clothing out of teddy bears.
05:33What are these?
05:34I'm picking up a lot of little pieces, because I want to create my own textile.
05:38So...
05:39That's cool.
05:40Oh, yeah.
05:41Those are my...
05:42Rami.
05:43What are these?
05:44Those are kites.
05:46Kites?
05:47Yeah.
05:48Cool!
05:49The one thing that's not exciting to me is unconventional, like, toys.
05:54In the real world, that unconventional stuff does not exist.
05:58So my only game plan is to spend all the money that they gave us, so I have options.
06:04I'll figure it out.
06:12That was fun!
06:13Ah!
06:14It is a little hot in here.
06:16Ah!
06:17I'm gonna take my head off.
06:19All right, designer, that's time!
06:21That's it!
06:22You need to be in line, checking out.
06:24I'll see you soon.
06:25We'll have a lunch.
06:26Fabulous.
06:35We're back.
06:36We're back, back, back, back, back again.
06:38Okay.
06:43What animal is crying over there?
06:45Victors.
06:46It's like a creepy toy sale.
06:48I'm really psyched about these.
06:50My cool tech shit.
06:51My bitches from the future.
06:57So I think I'm going with, like, a red queen look.
07:00All cards.
07:01The whole thing.
07:02I love it.
07:05The theme I'm going with is space jam glam.
07:08A lot of times people hear whimsical and go colorful.
07:12I want my girl to go the opposite route with a futuristic feel.
07:17Mirror mirror on the wall.
07:19Who's the winner of it all?
07:20Me?
07:21I feel like the unconventional challenge shows you who you are.
07:25It really brings out that creativity in you.
07:28The outfit I'm trying to make is a short cropped jacket made out of the stuffings of a toy piano.
07:34The one thing I do remember from my childhood is that I took piano lessons.
07:38So grabbing the piano was actually a homage to my childhood.
07:42My parents were really, you know, sacrificing for me and my siblings.
07:48I have a little love and hate relationship with unconventional.
07:51It's the unconventional materials challenge.
07:53If I were a judge, I might put you in the bottom.
07:56But I don't just be giving up on stuff.
07:59I don't do that.
08:03Where do the batteries go?
08:06No.
08:07This is going to take forever.
08:09Okay, whatever.
08:10I'm over it.
08:11What are you doing?
08:12I am making a chain skirt out of H's and other various things.
08:17This is my...
08:18This is your jam?
08:19This is my jam.
08:20I've got this idea for a really cool hip situation.
08:24I purchased some children's umbrellas that are going to make this perfect geometric hip line that's so modern and couture right now.
08:31I cannot rest on my laurels.
08:33I won last week, which is huge, but it's a little crazy that there's no immunity.
08:37But this season, one minute you can be on top and the next minute you can be going home.
08:42Coming up?
08:43Let's go.
08:45Stress is real, ain't it?
08:47This is quite aggressive.
08:48It is.
08:49It is.
08:50What the...
09:02You're killing it.
09:03Hi, everybody.
09:04Hey.
09:05How are you?
09:06Hey, Christian.
09:07Good.
09:08Are we filled with joy?
09:09Yep.
09:10We are.
09:11Oh, yeah.
09:12You know it.
09:13Yes.
09:14You know it.
09:15Hi, Kane.
09:16Hello, sir.
09:17How are you?
09:18You have a whole dress already draped.
09:20Well, I've got big ideas.
09:21She's going to start out and be like a princess.
09:23Okay.
09:24And so she will reveal the badass queen bitch.
09:27I am making this gorgeous black and white strapless mermaid gown with these sculptural hips.
09:33This is a lot of work.
09:34I mean, I'm real fast.
09:35I know, but I'm going to push it tonight.
09:38I'm going to push it real hard to figure out what I can do.
09:40Okay?
09:41Mila, you got unicorns.
09:45And I got puzzles.
09:46And puzzles.
09:47I'm going to make a skirt and it's going to be like this fabrication.
09:51This whole skirt?
09:53Mm-hmm.
09:54I'm making a skirt out of beautiful jigsaw puzzle tiles that look like a painting.
10:00What's the top?
10:01The top is going to be a fur hoodie.
10:05And then...
10:06You sure?
10:07Too much.
10:08It's not as like sophisticated as I feel like your clothes are.
10:13If this were 13 years ago, I don't think I would have picked plush unicorns.
10:18In season seven, I chose black and white corrugated plastic paint tray liners.
10:24That's on brand with who I am.
10:27But you know, there's another side of me that's developed in the last 13 years that is softer.
10:33And I think that that's why I want to try something new.
10:37If you can make it feel really new and modern, it'll be exciting.
10:44Brittany?
10:45Hey.
10:46I see your tea party over here.
10:47Yes.
10:48Tea party smashing the mosaic.
10:50That's what I thought for like the bodice and kind of making it like really intricate.
10:53Make it look like beading.
10:54And then have the skirt just be insanely full.
10:57No, you can't just use this fabric.
11:00It's a tent.
11:01It's something else in a way.
11:03Okay, I will.
11:04I'll push it.
11:05Bye.
11:06See ya.
11:07Fabio.
11:08Hey.
11:09You can't just do a card dress.
11:10Why not?
11:11That is so easy.
11:12You've got to do something to these cards, fold them, mold them.
11:16Maybe they intertwine.
11:17That's what I mean.
11:18Got it.
11:19Wow.
11:20Maybe a little too dry.
11:21Do you think what's going to happen with these cards?
11:23Because I'm still going to use the cards.
11:24Hi.
11:25You have the most stuff, I think.
11:27Do I?
11:28Yes.
11:29So the idea is to kind of create a collage on a fitted dress.
11:33You've got dragons.
11:34I do have dragons.
11:37Growing up in Palestine, kites for me were a sign of like joy and hope.
11:43When you look at a kite, you always have your head up high and you're looking up to the sky.
11:48As a kid who lost their mother at the age of five, living under military aggression and curfews.
11:56And for me, it's symbolic of keeping your head up and looking for the brighter side of things.
12:02I may use them as almost like a sleeve detail.
12:07If you need it, like edit yourself a little bit.
12:09Yeah.
12:10Can't wait to see.
12:11Me too.
12:12Sorry, let me turn it off.
12:13Sorry.
12:14What is that?
12:16These are just heads.
12:17This is quite aggressive.
12:19It is.
12:20And I'm going to use them.
12:23Is that what we're doing?
12:25Maybe.
12:26No, you're not.
12:27Let me show you the sketch because I think.
12:31What?
12:32No, please.
12:33No, I like it.
12:34I like it.
12:35Okay, okay.
12:36I like it.
12:37My idea is to make a trench coat.
12:39So I wanted to do a version of that, but whimsical.
12:42What's the rest?
12:43Originally, I wanted to use these.
12:45Okay.
12:46What are these?
12:47The little boomerangs?
12:48Yeah, they're boomerangs.
12:49They like.
12:50Do they really work?
12:51No, you have to go like this.
12:52Why?
12:53Like that.
12:54Fabulous.
12:55I've been doing that all day.
12:56Yeah, me too.
12:57So I think this is your chance.
12:59Campy, but still really cool fashion.
13:02I think that is going to excite them.
13:04Okay, yes.
13:05Good luck.
13:09Laurence.
13:10Yes.
13:11I'm coming to you because that's looking fabulous.
13:14What are you making?
13:15I am thinking about making a raincoat.
13:18Tell me everything.
13:19With boomerang.
13:20Oh.
13:21I'm trying to marry the toy with my style.
13:25So that's why I decided to go with a hood.
13:28What can be the base?
13:29Sure.
13:30Mixed with some other stuff.
13:31But I haven't figured that out yet.
13:33Because the whole thing couldn't be this?
13:35I don't want it to look all like this.
13:38Because that's very innovative, very cool.
13:40Growing up, did you like toys or play with toys?
13:43Growing up, I was a tomboy.
13:45And plus I have 10 siblings, so.
13:47Wow.
13:48You get a toy in the house, it lasts two days,
13:50and there's no more.
13:51You'll never see it again.
13:52We didn't really need toys.
13:57Hello.
13:58Hi, sir.
13:59How are you?
14:00I'm...
14:01Stuff everywhere.
14:02Finding yourself here?
14:03Yeah.
14:04Where I'm from, there's no such thing as whimsical.
14:06So...
14:07In Haiti, we don't have fairy tales.
14:10It's reality.
14:11If you want fairy dust and , I'm the wrong guy.
14:14But...
14:15But there's joy.
14:16There's joy.
14:17The art, music.
14:18Yes.
14:19My mind went streetwear.
14:21Cool.
14:22So I took a bunch of pianos, which are over there.
14:24My version of whimsical would be, you know,
14:26what makes us happy, which is our culture, our music,
14:28our food, the art.
14:30I am going to make her pants out of these.
14:32The painting?
14:33Fabulous.
14:34Amazing.
14:35Art designers, have fun with the toys.
14:39Later Christian.
14:40Bye Christian.
14:41Talk to you later.
14:42Let's get your shit together.
14:44Stress is real, ain't it?
14:45Hey, guys.
14:46That's time.
14:47Let's go home.
14:48No toying around.
14:49I need my emotional support.
14:50Coming up.
14:51Brittany.
14:52What?
14:53Did any of the little piggies go to the market?
14:54You said what?
14:55Damn.
14:56You're facing that way.
14:57Damn it.
14:58Don't scream at me.
14:59I'm on my way to something better.
15:15I'm ready to get started.
15:16Like to get back in.
15:17Same, because I feel like today is going to go by really fast.
15:19Okay, let's go.
15:20Let's hop to win.
15:21Oh, my God.
15:22Y'all, this room needs Jesus.
15:23It needs more than that.
15:24Stop.
15:25Fabio and Brittany seem a little stressed.
15:26They are going glue gun hard, which to me is usually not a unconventional win, but they have committed.
15:42I think a truly good unconventional look doesn't need a glue gun.
15:46Here, look, because I'm really proud of this.
15:49I'm going to do a proper, like a waistband.
15:52I think it's going to be a perfect length.
15:54If you do the elastic, like pretty much the size of her waist, when she put it on, you won't see the elastic.
15:58Exactly.
15:59Problem solving on steroids.
16:05Do you think this looks okay, this texture?
16:08Like I want to make the whole body like this.
16:10Yeah.
16:11Because if you get half done and then only half is done and you run out,
16:15you're screwed.
16:16To complete the look, it's my mission to find as many boomerangs as I can.
16:21Do you have this color?
16:22Not that color.
16:23You want this?
16:24Yeah, I would love them.
16:29Victor, are you using those little piggies or no?
16:31No.
16:32Oh, so I can have them for sure?
16:33Yeah.
16:34Oh, perfect.
16:35Brittany.
16:36What?
16:37Did any of the little piggies go to the market?
16:38You said what?
16:39My girl.
16:40Damn.
16:41You're facing that way.
16:42Damn it.
16:43I didn't know.
16:44Damn it.
16:45Don't scream at me.
16:46Woo!
16:47That's going to be in commercials next on Project Runway.
16:49Hi, everybody.
16:50Hi, Christian.
16:51Hi, Christian.
16:52How's it going?
16:53Hi, Christian.
16:54Hi, Christian.
16:55Everyone feeling whimsical?
16:56Whimsical.
16:57Whimsical.
16:58Whimsical.
16:59Who wants a model?
17:00Me.
17:01Here they come.
17:02Awesome.
17:03Whoo!
17:08Good to see you.
17:09I just want it to be, like, fun.
17:11Playful, yeah.
17:12Playful, yeah.
17:13So all this is from, like, inside of a piano.
17:15No way.
17:16Right?
17:17Since we're coming off a win, we gotta, we gotta really bring it.
17:20Honey, have you seen inside?
17:23This is so cool.
17:24It's all gonna be cards.
17:26What the?
17:28If you walk, just feel better.
17:31Better, right?
17:33Okay, cool, cool.
17:34Anna?
17:35Mm-hmm?
17:36What is this?
17:37This is the back from the piano.
17:39Uh-huh.
17:40Uh-huh.
17:41And she will have a hat, and also a baby swimming float, and a pacifier.
17:47What?
17:48Uh-huh.
17:49Why?
17:50Yeah, that's...
17:51She's a baby?
17:52Yes.
17:53Really?
17:54Uh-huh.
17:56Oh, my God, that's my baby's moment.
17:58Why are you crying?
18:01No.
18:02This is not crying.
18:04Why are you asking the baby?
18:06Oh, my God.
18:07Okay, Anna, let's talk about a few cents real quick.
18:10Come here, come here.
18:12This gray dress.
18:13Yeah.
18:14I mean, Anna, you can't show that.
18:16It's...
18:17It's wrinkled meth.
18:19You are dark and sexy and glamorous.
18:22Those are your clothes, and avant-garde, and that's what you should do here.
18:25Okay.
18:27All right, designers.
18:28Tomorrow, it's runway day.
18:30Love it.
18:31Yeah!
18:32Happens quick.
18:33Good luck.
18:34I'll see you tomorrow.
18:35Bye.
18:36Bye.
18:37Thanks, Christiana.
18:38Bye, guys.
18:39Okay, let's go.
18:42What are you using now?
18:43A dress with the texture on it.
18:45Nice.
18:46Yeah.
18:47Ruffles?
18:48Ruffles, definitely.
18:49I changed my design immediately.
18:51I'm adding ruffle texture on top of the body to bring some fairytale kind of energy.
18:58Better work, honey.
18:59Anna's look.
19:00There's no toys there.
19:01At all.
19:09You gonna have enough?
19:10I really need Kato.
19:11At this point, I don't have enough yellow boomerangs.
19:15Kato has some boomerangs, but I don't know if I'm gonna get them in my hand.
19:21When we were in All Stars previously, Kato and I were very competitive against each other,
19:26and it wasn't a good feeling.
19:29Kato is, look, you could call it a curtain.
19:32Where's the design?
19:33Congratulations.
19:34It's good.
19:35I am in big trouble.
19:36Why?
19:37I don't have enough to go all the way up.
19:39So at this point, I'm kind of counting only on Kato.
19:42Maybe if she doesn't use them, maybe I'll use hers.
19:45Take the rest of the yellow.
19:46Are you sure?
19:47I didn't want to, like...
19:49No, take it.
19:51Last time, I think I was probably a little too competitive.
19:55You know what I mean?
19:56Yeah.
19:57I was definitely immature, and I'm sorry.
19:59And I thought of you a lot.
20:01I had to, like, air that out eventually.
20:04It takes a lot for anyone to admit when they're in the wrong.
20:09Much respect to him for just saying sorry.
20:12I appreciate that, Victor.
20:14Bring the wonder.
20:15Bring the whimsy.
20:20I have a herd, I have shoulders.
20:22I just gotta put a body on it.
20:24If it took me that long to do that piece,
20:27I'm just gonna come up with something else for the body quickly.
20:30I have this piano, plasticky fabric that I'm gonna use as a base.
20:35But it's simple math equations.
20:37Am I being realistic,
20:39and am I gonna have enough time to finish?
20:42All right, everybody.
20:43It's time.
20:44We have so much to do.
20:45We're done for the day.
20:46All right.
20:47All right.
20:48Yes, it's time.
20:49I know. Let's go.
20:50Let go.
20:51All right.
20:56Ooh.
20:57Lovely.
20:58The night before the runway of the unconventional materials,
21:01in every single season,
21:03is always a really, really hard night.
21:05So the fact that we get to go to a wine bar,
21:07decompress with each other,
21:08it's so needed.
21:13Hello.
21:14Oh, moushichu.
21:15Oh, moushichu.
21:17Oh.
21:18It's very emotional.
21:20Do you still know me?
21:21Are you nervous?
21:22Do you think we're gonna have enough time to finish everything?
21:26No, I don't really get nervous, but...
21:28I caught my boy!
21:32And I did another cry!
21:36Yeah!
21:37Yeah!
21:38Yeah!
21:39Woo!
21:40Coming up, your model has to be dressed in like eight minutes.
21:44No immunity!
21:45What I want to know from you is why not try?
21:51Hey-ya-ya!
21:52Hi, darlings.
21:53Did you miss us?
21:54Oh!
21:55Have to be so careful.
21:56like every time you turn something,
21:57because it's all paper and plastic.
21:58For the shoulder ruffle detail,
21:59I'm going to make it look modern and fresh
22:00by making it off-shouldered.
22:01It's not covered up.
22:02It's revealing and it's sexy and fun and nice.
22:03So, I'm going to make it look modern and fresh
22:04by making it off-shouldered.
22:05Hi, Christian.
22:06Hi, Christian.
22:07Wow!
22:08What the heck?
22:09What the heck?
22:10How are you doing?
22:11Oh, yeah.
22:12Yeah.
22:13Hi, darlings.
22:14Did you miss us?
22:15Oh!
22:16Have to be so careful, like every time you turn something,
22:18because it's all paper and plastic.
22:19For the shoulder ruffle detail,
22:20I'm going to make it look modern and fresh
22:22by making it off-shouldered.
22:24It's not covered up.
22:25It's revealing and it's sexy and fun and young.
22:30Hi, everybody.
22:31Hi, Christian.
22:32Hi!
22:33Hi, Christian.
22:34Wow, lots of progress.
22:36Look at that.
22:37Woo!
22:38Gather around for me.
22:39I just want to take a minute to remind you all
22:41what we're playing for here.
22:43The grand prize.
22:45Quarter of a million dollars supplied
22:47by Pilot Friction erasable pens,
22:50which you guys have been using
22:51for sketching and erasing.
22:52Yes, they're fabulous.
22:54Right?
22:55A feature in Elle magazine.
22:57Where, where, where?
22:58And a career-changing mentorship with the CFDA.
23:04Also, we added in six months of representation from Agent Tree PR.
23:09Oh.
23:11I've had the opportunity to have PR in the past.
23:13It's extensive.
23:15All right, designers.
23:17Here come the models.
23:18Woo!
23:19Awesome.
23:21Hi.
23:22Good morning.
23:23It's so crunchy.
23:24We're going to join them.
23:32Neck to butt.
23:33Just like that.
23:34Wow.
23:36We need a little something.
23:39I'm spray painting the panda's eyes.
23:41This is what I've got to do
23:42to really get this, like, villain aspect across.
23:46Like, that is the whimsical part of my story.
23:52To finish this look,
23:53I have to use closures from a wooden toy
23:57to act as buttons, I guess, on the garment.
24:00I'm doing my best.
24:07All right, designers.
24:08When you're ready,
24:09take your models to the Bobbi Brown makeup studio
24:11and the Tresme hair salon.
24:16Make it flat as possible.
24:18It don't even matter.
24:19We are doing something very, like, girly.
24:25I would go glam.
24:28Mila, look how much lining is coming through.
24:31Walk, ZD.
24:34I mean, I knew it was going to come through somewhat.
24:37I mean, if you love it.
24:43One more ruffle.
24:45So it's down to the wire.
24:47I've got, like, two minutes to finish
24:49the entire mermaid hem of the dress.
24:51I'm literally cutting around this hem so fast.
24:55All right, let's go.
24:56We're leaving.
24:59Designers, one minute.
25:02Let's go.
25:03It's going to be fabulous.
25:10Hello, designers.
25:11Hello.
25:12Hello.
25:15I have seen it all when it comes to unconventional materials
25:18in this challenge.
25:19So I really hope you guys brought your wow factor.
25:23Yeah.
25:24This is where you really know, in my mind,
25:27who's technically the greatest.
25:29So this is always really fun to watch, and I'm excited.
25:31Please meet your guest judge, CEO, and founder of global fashion brand, Alice & Olivia.
25:40Ooh.
25:41Designer Stacy Vendette.
25:43Hi, everybody.
25:45Hey, girl. Hey.
25:46Oh, my goodness.
25:47Everyone knows of Alice & Olivia.
25:48They have gorgeous women's clothing.
25:50It's a huge brand, and Brittany wears a ton of it.
25:53So excited to be judging this challenge because I love all things whimsy.
26:00We can't wait to see how you brought these toys to life.
26:03Let's start the show.
26:04Oh, my gosh.
26:17My model looks so good in my designs.
26:19The paillettes look a little bit different.
26:21I cannot.
26:23I'm obsessed.
26:25It's colorful that I never usually do that much.
26:28Like, what even are those things?
26:30I was trying to figure that out.
26:32The initial design, I wanted to be more overlaid on top of each other,
26:35but I think it's looking good.
26:42Unconventional is a very tough challenge.
26:45To see a completed look coming down this runway that actually speaks to whimsy,
26:50but at the same time, it's a fashion-forward shape.
27:00I am super happy about it.
27:01It could have gone wrong so many ways.
27:03As my look walked down the runway, I died and went to unconventional heaven.
27:16What? How?
27:18From not having any toys as a kid to creating my own.
27:21I would buy that jacket.
27:22I would wear the whole outfit.
27:23I think I really did an excellent unconventional look.
27:36Everything is good.
27:37Magnets are staying in place.
27:38Toys are secured.
27:39Not a stitch of it is expected.
27:43And it also comes together like an actual wearable garment.
27:46I am just loving how it turned out.
27:48It is very hard to sew this material, but I am glad I took the risk because it paid off.
28:05I think it's a very strong design, very strong vision.
28:12I just hope the judges can understand this is my whimsy.
28:16What type of toy would that be?
28:19I don't know.
28:24My look is completely finished.
28:26I love the way it's moving and walking.
28:28It's totally wearable.
28:32It's so fun.
28:33I love it.
28:34I think I did a great job.
28:35I love the fact that it's completed with a zipper and not sewn in or glued on.
28:40I have no concerns.
28:42It's a roller coaster?
28:49Everyone went in a colorful direction.
28:56I wanted to be opposite and go in a dark, whimsical direction.
29:02The wings are winging and I love that I'm pushing it with the textures that I've created.
29:11I'm feeling pretty whimsical about my look.
29:14She looks like she just came from the future.
29:16And the shoulders, I love it.
29:19I would wear that.
29:28I literally could just like cry right now.
29:31The dress is perfect.
29:35You would never know that that is shredded tint and teacups.
29:42Ooh.
29:46This look could probably be in one of my movies for sure.
29:55You were back in it.
29:56You can do it.
29:58This is just the tip of what I can create.
30:01I like the dog back.
30:03I mean, iconic.
30:05I'm just so happy.
30:07I'm not going to sit here and tell you, oh my God, this was the best thing I've ever done in my life.
30:17It's not.
30:18But I'm okay with it.
30:22It is me, but it's not me.
30:23It's not me.
30:30I see a lot of different colors that are interesting.
30:33I see the flounce that's moving around.
30:36I mean, I don't use plastic to make dresses.
30:38But I think creating a textile, that thought process does represent me because it's about having a unique approach in the creative part of something.
30:52That kind of gives me a unique angle as a designer in this competition.
30:55I like the way my skirt has movement, feels whimsical.
31:08I am proud of my fabrication.
31:13I was trying to color outside the lines.
31:15We've got the drama of the cape, the hood.
31:26This girl is about to allure you to get what she wants.
31:29I'm about to have a reveal, Nina, I can feel it.
31:32Here it comes.
31:35Oh.
31:36That's cute.
31:38And it's a fashion show, so I've got to create some drama and some special moments on that runway.
31:45I also kind of even want the designers.
31:48This is the best unconventional challenge we've ever had, for sure.
31:55Designers, what a fantastic show.
31:59It was like FAO iconic.
32:03You all delivered.
32:06One of you will be the winner, and one of you will be out.
32:16We've scored your designs.
32:19Fabio.
32:21Carason.
32:23Hester.
32:25Anna.
32:27Vishmi.
32:28And Kato.
32:30You are all in.
32:32Congratulations.
32:36Good luck.
32:38Awesome.
32:40Yeah.
32:41Okay.
32:42Here we are.
32:43Congratulations.
32:44This is two first challenges.
32:46The seven of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
32:51One of you will be the winner, and one of you will be out.
32:56We're going to start with one of our favorite looks of the night.
33:00Let's bring out the model.
33:04All right, Prajie.
33:06You went home during the unconventional materials challenge last time.
33:10And now, how are you feeling?
33:12When I first came to this country, the first place I went was Afro choice, and I was blown my mind.
33:18Growing up as a kid, I never really had much toys to play with.
33:22So, in my head, I wanted to create my own kind of toy, rock star, it girl.
33:28So, that's why I went with the bass as a piano.
33:32This is the baby floor toy.
33:34And then, of course, I had to go and create an entire painting over that and turn this into a puffer.
33:39Wait, did you use the actual material?
33:42Yes.
33:43That's very impressive.
33:44I absolutely loved it.
33:47It's cool.
33:48It's giving street style street wear, which is what you're all about.
33:51I hope you feel proud of yourself.
33:53This is a full circle moment knowing that this was the first store that you ever visited when you came to New York.
33:58And I think this is what this challenge is all about.
34:01So, I'm really, really impressed.
34:04Thank you, Prajie.
34:05Jessica, you can lead the runway.
34:06Shall we go for another one of our highest scores of the evening?
34:12Hello, darling.
34:18Hi, Kane.
34:19Hello.
34:20Tell us about your look.
34:21Well, I always thought about my favorite Disney movies where there's always an evil villain that disguises herself as someone sweet.
34:28You have the evil queen pandemonium.
34:32I wanted to do something really modern and sculptural, so I also used the piano, but I cut and sewed all of these chevron strips.
34:40I loved it as soon as it came out.
34:43To create something this fitted and this, you know, sort of beautifully constructed out of those materials is not easy.
34:51The humor of the pandas, of the bleeding eyes, I thought that was full of joy and I thought it was incredibly creative.
35:01The bleeding panda filled you with joy.
35:03It did, because it was so humorous.
35:06Thank you, Kane.
35:08Okay, next we're going to look at one of our lowest scores of the night.
35:13Mila, tell us about your look.
35:19For the top, I used about eight unicorns and I decided I wanted to use a jigsaw puzzle to make a skirt, so I linked all the pieces together.
35:30I love the fact that this had a wonderful movement.
35:34My problem with this outfit, it's not telling me a story, it's not giving me a clear point of view, I don't know why you did it.
35:42I understand.
35:43There were elements that I like about this.
35:45I like that you put it with a chunky sneaker.
35:48I like the colorful bobble bracelet.
35:51It looks like you just didn't finish it and then you grabbed a bunch of things in the accessories wall to try to make it look like something.
35:57I think it was that this process was quite time consuming.
36:00I had this very clear vision of what I wanted for the skirt and I would have liked for it to be fuller.
36:06Thank you, Mila.
36:07Okay, we'll get another one of our lowest scores of the evening.
36:11Okay, Rami, tell us about your look.
36:18I took the kite and I wanted to create a color story from this first one that I saw, which was a butterfly shape of a kite.
36:29Yeah, it's a childhood memory so it's like, it's deep for me but I would see the kites like flying outside in the sky and I would see all the colors out there and it was mesmerizing.
36:46I thought it was beautiful, you know, I love the splash of color in the middle of the sky so that was my inspiration.
36:53I love the concept. I just think the construction of the dress fell short.
36:58It felt noisy, both literally and metaphorically.
37:03Do you feel that it did not succeed or did you feel that when you sent it out on the runway that it was successful?
37:08I will stand now and honestly say I do love the color story.
37:13Yeah.
37:14Thank you, Rami.
37:15Lyris, you can leave the runway.
37:17Okay, the next look was one of our highest scores.
37:23Let's get the model out here.
37:26Tell us about your look.
37:31The bodice is tea kettles, tea plates and tea cups.
37:36It's really beautiful.
37:37This took most of my time.
37:40This is like 20 full panels on the tent.
37:44Just the fact that you were able to create that number of ruffles and construct such a beautiful skirt in that time is amazing.
37:51It definitely provides whimsy.
37:53When I saw it, I kind of smiled.
37:55I really was very impressed with your ruching technique.
38:01Thanks, Brittany.
38:02Thank you, darling.
38:04Let's move on to one of our highest scores of the evening.
38:10Victor?
38:12How are you feeling?
38:13Oh, my God.
38:14I'm like sweating everywhere.
38:16Tell us about your look.
38:18I really wanted to use this as a faux fur moment.
38:22And the heads of the dinosaurs, I really wanted you guys to see where it came from.
38:26And then I love these boomerangs.
38:29Ah, those are boomerangs?
38:31These are foam boomerangs.
38:32I thought those were like holly pocket spoons.
38:36This is so fantastic.
38:39Thank you so much.
38:40I mean, you were able to take these stuffed dinosaurs and create a shoulder and a structure and a coat that looks like it could be on a Paris runway.
38:49Really great job.
38:50Thank you so much.
38:51Roberta, you can leave the runway.
38:54You too.
38:55Bye, baby.
38:56Okay, next we have one of our lowest scores of the night.
38:58Should we get the model out here?
39:03Laurence?
39:04Yes.
39:05Tell us about your look.
39:06I use some boomerangs, fur, grommets, um...
39:13Why not try?
39:19No, I did try.
39:20But did you?
39:21I don't know.
39:27Why not try?
39:30No, I did try.
39:31But did you?
39:32I don't know.
39:33Whimsical is not really part of my vocabulary.
39:40Why did you want to come back to Project Runway?
39:42I think I grew in the last six years I've been on the show.
39:45And, um, just to show you what I've been doing.
39:48As I'm getting to know you for the first time, I'd love to have your work tell me something about you, even if the challenge takes you outside of your comfort zone.
39:59Yeah.
40:00Thank you, Laurence.
40:02Maybe you can leave the runway.
40:03Oh, my God.
40:06Thank you, designers.
40:07We have a lot to discuss.
40:08You can leave the runway.
40:11Bye, everybody.
40:14Bring it in.
40:15Rami, get your ass over here.
40:17This blew my mind.
40:18They made all of those looks with toys.
40:21Toys.
40:23Wonderful.
40:24It really was.
40:25The entire show and display of creativity was so impressive.
40:31It doesn't bring me joy, but we have to come to this every single time.
40:34We must choose someone to go home.
40:36What do you think, Nina?
40:38Well, Rami, I didn't think his was the worst one.
40:42It was the bottom half of his work that did not feel okay.
40:45It was ill-fitting.
40:46It was really stiff on the bottom.
40:47Yeah.
40:48But I'm willing to fight for him to see another day because of his conviction and his story
40:53and his passion.
40:54Rami's look was completely finished.
40:56Right.
40:57We may not have all loved it, but Mila, Laurence, there was like a shoulder that was done or a
41:04breastplate that was done and everything else was like, let's just hail Mary and see what happens tonight.
41:08Right.
41:09I was surprised at Laurence's attitude about her project.
41:12Yeah.
41:13I couldn't tell that she wanted to even be here.
41:16What counts is your skill set.
41:18And the thing is, the look was kind of crickets too.
41:21It's great what was going on in the back, but you know, the runway is facing forward.
41:26It was pretty bad.
41:27It was pretty bad.
41:28And you know what was also bad?
41:29Mila.
41:30The jigsaw puzzle, half finished skirt with the lining hanging out, it lacked a story
41:36and whimsy.
41:37There was no clear point of view.
41:41They both were not great.
41:42I'm really torn.
41:44All right.
41:47Do we all agree who's going home tonight?
41:49Yes.
41:50Well, let's talk about our favorites.
41:52I loved how Brittany was able to construct a skirt that looked almost couture, turning pieces
41:59of a kid's tent into ruffles.
42:01I feel like the mosaic bodice just was really beautifully executed.
42:06There's too many superstars up here for her to play it safe.
42:09I totally agree.
42:11Let's talk about Kane.
42:12I really appreciated the construction of that dress.
42:16The way he used the umbrella pieces on the side and created that structure out of really unconventional materials.
42:22But it wasn't my favorite outfit.
42:24I thought it was fun.
42:25I thought it delivered on technique, showmanship, on storytelling.
42:31Is Kane number one on my list?
42:34No.
42:35I think if we're talking about which outfit was the most creative, I'm really torn between two outfits.
42:43Victor and Praje, I know, was pretty equal.
42:46Yeah.
42:47It's really tough.
42:48Victor's look is very Moschino.
42:50And Praje's look is very Louis Vuitton right now.
42:52Yes.
42:53Like they both felt like they could be on the runway.
42:55It's really hard.
42:56They were both so good.
42:58So do we all agree on the winner?
43:01Yes.
43:02Yeah.
43:03Okay, let's get them back out here.
43:07Welcome back to the runway.
43:09Kane, Brittany, Victor, and Praje.
43:16You all showed us whimsy in a way that brought us so much joy.
43:21I don't think any of us have smiled so much looking at a runway show.
43:24I know, same.
43:25And you should all be really proud.
43:28Kane and Brittany, you are both in.
43:34Congratulations, you two.
43:36It was an honor.
43:37Yes, Holly.
43:38You can go ahead and sashay off the runway as Brandon said.
43:42We did it!
43:45The winner of tonight's challenge brought a huge smile to all of our faces.
43:50The winner is...
43:55Victor.
44:00How does it feel, Victor?
44:01I just want to say thank you so much for your advice last challenge.
44:05We were all impressed.
44:06Truly commendable.
44:08Congratulations.
44:09You deserve this win.
44:11And Victor, you also win a prize.
44:13What?
44:14The favorite toys of any designer.
44:16An industrial sewing machine.
44:18An industrial serger.
44:20What?
44:21A full-on singer suite of toys.
44:24Oh my God!
44:26You have earned it.
44:27Praje, you are also in.
44:29And a special congratulations to both of you for really, really executing against this assignment.
44:34We loved your outfit.
44:35It was so special and so creative.
44:39Well done.
44:40Well done.
44:41Well done.
44:42You won?
44:43No, girl.
44:44Victor.
44:45Come back, bitch.
44:46Mila, Laurence, and Rami.
44:59Unfortunately, unconventional materials were not your friend tonight.
45:04And you all missed the mark for different reasons.
45:08Rami, you are in.
45:14You may lead the runway.
45:17For such a fun challenge, this is the part that's not fun for any of us.
45:22One of you will be in and one of you will be out.
45:26Laurence, we didn't see you in this design.
45:30And ultimately, it just felt uninspired.
45:35Mila, your skirt and top lacked a point of view.
45:40And ultimately, just didn't feel finished in the end.
45:43But one of you has to go home tonight.
45:51Laurence, you are in.
45:57Thank you for giving me a second chance.
46:01Please, please, show us who you are.
46:04I will.
46:05Thank you so much.
46:10Mila, I'm so sorry.
46:12But that means, unfortunately, tonight you are out.
46:16I wish I could have given you a chance to see me get back on track.
46:19Thank you, Mila, for being here.
46:21You may lead the runway.
46:22Thanks for the experience.
46:24Leaving the runway feels really surreal.
46:27I really did think that I was going to be safe.
46:31Girl!
46:32Oh, Mila!
46:33It just feels too early to go.
46:38Don't cry for me, baby.
46:39I am going to because I've looked up to you for a long time.
46:42Oh, I love you guys.
46:44You know how much I appreciate you.
46:46Just one more time.
46:51Hi.
46:52Mila, I think you're so talented, chic, sophisticated.
46:57This is like, you know, the most feared challenge.
47:00At least there was a little bit of joy in it, you know?
47:02For sure.
47:03But we'll see you again, I know.
47:05It's really hard to leave that room full of awesome people.
47:10I wanted to come back to Project Runway All-Stars, not only to push myself and make things again, but also just to show the world who I am.
47:23I don't really think I had enough time to do that.
47:27Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
47:34Oh, my God.
47:36Long live the king.
47:38Oh, my goodness.
47:39We want you to create a formal gown fit for royalty.
47:44So, we're dividing you up into teams of two.
47:48It is looking medieval costume.
47:52I mean, it's giving a little icy.
47:54I am kind of stumped of what to say.
47:56It feels wilted.
47:57It feels sad and heavy.
