00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:02This is a Project Runway first.
00:05Uh-oh.
00:06You've earned the right to make whatever the hell you want.
00:09Are you serious? Yes!
00:10Whoo!
00:12Having an episode of Bitch Stole My Look.
00:14There's a lot of plagiarism going on.
00:16This bitch ain't over in the top. I am fighting.
00:19Brittany Coteau, you are in.
00:22A little safe, though, though.
00:24That was safe, okay? I feel offended.
00:27The winning look tonight took a breath away.
00:30The winner is...
00:32Bitch Me.
00:33Kara-san, there was a lot going on.
00:36I'm so sorry, but you are out.
00:38I knew it was a sign for me to come here, you guys.
00:41I just can't wait to see what everybody does here.
00:44I love you.
00:45And thank you for everything. Like, seriously.
00:52Fashion designer Christian Siriano.
00:54Journalist Elaine Welteroff.
00:56Fashion designer Brandon Maxwell.
00:58And editor-in-chief of Elle Magazine, Nina Garcia.
01:01Are looking for America's next great fashion designer.
01:04At stake for the winner.
01:06A quarter of a million dollars.
01:08Supplied by Pilot Friction Erasable Pens.
01:10A feature in Elle Magazine.
01:12And a career-changing mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
01:17This is Project Runway.
01:19All stars.
01:27Hi. Back.
01:29All right. Listen. I know it's hard. You lose a friend. I get it. You know? It's tough.
01:35Karisan was truly the soul of this group. She made everybody feel loved.
01:40Let's just try to get through it. But I know it's hard.
01:45All right. Time for your next challenge.
01:48And there is someone waiting for us on the runway.
01:51Someone? Okay.
01:52Yeah.
01:53All right. Come on. Let's go.
01:58Hello.
01:59Hi.
02:01Hi.
02:03Hi, designers.
02:04Hello.
02:05Hi.
02:06Such a small group.
02:07You guys, the top six. That's a big deal.
02:10That is a big deal.
02:11On an all-star season, okay?
02:12Yeah.
02:13Can I get an amen?
02:14Amen.
02:15Okay.
02:16Yeah, that's a big deal.
02:19Embrace the joy of this moment.
02:22Yes.
02:23All right.
02:24Expressing yourself with style, personal flair, is really what fashion is all about.
02:29Ugh.
02:30I love flair.
02:34Clothes should give off a vibe that tell the world what you're all about.
02:38But the flip side of that is the absolute worst.
02:41When you feel like you have to conform to other people's expectations.
02:45Have you been there?
02:46Yeah.
02:47I know I've been there.
02:48One minute, you're too emotional.
02:50The next, you're too quiet.
02:51Yep.
02:52That is called a double bind.
02:54It makes women, in particular, self-edit so they can fit in or fit the part.
03:00And it's time for that to change.
03:03I totally can relate to it.
03:04I'm told I'm too much of this or not enough of this.
03:07And when I'm confident, I'm too ambitious.
03:10I just hate people putting limitations on me.
03:13We need to celebrate women showcasing whatever style they want.
03:16And Tresemme is also committed to eliminating double binds.
03:21So they collaborated with the Representation Project and found that two thirds of women experience them.
03:27And 90% of these women report it prevents them from being their authentic self.
03:33And we're going to flip this problem on its head.
03:36We're going to embrace personal style.
03:38I love that.
03:39All right.
03:40So for your challenge.
03:41I'm nervous.
03:42Me too.
03:43Me too.
03:44You'll each create one runway look that showcases two styles.
03:50Yeah.
03:51All right.
03:52Let me show you some examples.
03:53Kylie Jenner.
03:54She went sporty and glamorous.
03:55Or when Harry Styles wore this fabulous Gucci blouse and tuxedo pant.
03:59Perfect marriage of masculine and feminine.
04:02It's time to find out which two opposing styles each of you will get.
04:06We'll start with Bishmi, tonight's winner.
04:09Basic and bold.
04:14You are welcome.
04:15Basic and bold.
04:16What the hell is that?
04:18I can relate to bold, but it's nothing basic about me.
04:21My name's Bishmi, for God's sakes.
04:23All right.
04:24Kato's next.
04:25Formal and casual.
04:26It's what you do.
04:27I know.
04:28Where is she sitting?
04:29All right, Rami.
04:31Ooh.
04:32Fitted and oversized.
04:34Ooh.
04:35Okay.
04:36Ooh.
04:37This is hot, Rami.
04:38Let's see what you can do.
04:39Thank you so much.
04:40Let's see what you can do with it.
04:41Wow.
04:42Praja, you're next.
04:43Elegant and edgy.
04:45Yes.
04:46Come and get it.
04:47Yes.
04:48Brittany.
04:49Sexy and modest.
04:51Ooh.
04:52Ooh.
04:53Interesting.
04:54Here you go, girl.
04:55Good luck.
04:56Laurence.
04:57Last but not least.
04:58Oh, this is a good one.
04:59Okay.
05:00Classic and trendy.
05:02Come and get it.
05:03Yep.
05:04Classy and trendy, they're talking about me.
05:06So it shouldn't be that hard.
05:08All right, designers.
05:10This is a one-day challenge.
05:13Of course.
05:14Of course.
05:15I left your model cards in the workroom.
05:17And you can draw your models randomly when you get there.
05:21You have 30 minutes to sketch.
05:23And I'll meet you tomorrow at Mood.
05:25Yay.
05:26Thank you, Christian.
05:27Now y'all can get up and get to work.
05:28Get to work.
05:29Y'all better calm yourselves down.
05:31Let's go, Madame.
05:32It's gonna be my date.
05:33It's like saying modest.
05:34Yay.
05:35She's like, that's not a thing.
05:37Move those.
05:38Everybody just go.
05:39Oh, my goodness.
05:40Basic and bold.
05:42Ooh.
05:43Good job.
05:44Things supposed to get easier.
05:52When I think of a double bind, I really think of, like, being in a situation that is a catch-22.
05:57Merging opposite elements in one look, fitted and oversized, is not an easy process.
06:02But I'm not here to play it safe.
06:03Like, I really want to push myself creatively.
06:06I want to show variety.
06:08So I am sketching an oversized jacket.
06:11Something that's very sexy, like a bodycon top and a skirt that really hug her body.
06:18What haven't I shown y'all yet?
06:20And it's a one-day challenge?
06:22Mm-hmm.
06:23Because now my brain's like...
06:25For this double bind challenge, I'm thinking about making a jumpsuit suit.
06:34A blazer has always been a classic.
06:36And a jumpsuit, it's very chic.
06:39All right, y'all.
06:40Let's go get some rest.
06:41All right.
06:42Let's go.
06:50Somehow I have to make something sexy and modest at the same time.
06:53I'm telling you, show some tits.
06:59That is always a solution.
07:00What are you guys going to try to get it, maybe?
07:02That's a good question.
07:03Something colorful.
07:04One, two, one, two.
07:05We at the house.
07:06Can I tell you you're going to brocade?
07:07You know me so well, girl.
07:12You look so fresh.
07:13All right, final six.
07:14Here we go.
07:15Remember, for this challenge, you guys can get creative with this.
07:1830 minutes, $450 to shop.
07:21Ready?
07:22Mm-hmm.
07:23Goodbye.
07:24Go.
07:25Bye.
07:26All right.
07:27I do like this a lot.
07:29My pants too tight to run.
07:31Lace?
07:32I'm just looking for a stretchy lace.
07:34Stretchy lace?
07:35Mm-hmm.
07:36Because I have sexy and modest.
07:37Sexy and modest lace.
07:39Yeah, but, like, there's not a whole lot that have, like, stretch.
07:43What are you doing, Kato?
07:44A flirty, casual, formal look.
07:47Black and annoying.
07:48Never did no black.
07:49You just did a whole black look.
07:51What are you talking about?
07:52A whole black look with a whole chartreuse situation.
07:54But it has a black sweater and a black pant.
07:56And you're so good at color.
07:59I know.
08:00This entire competition, I've been in a double bind.
08:03You know, one minute my skirts are too long, that's mean they're too short.
08:06So, game plan this week is to stick to my aesthetic.
08:09I'm definitely wanting to go casual with a bomber jacket and a formal, colorful, paperback,
08:17tuxedo pant.
08:18Five minutes, designers.
08:20Five minutes!
08:23Yeah.
08:24What's that?
08:25Is that jersey?
08:26You said do whatever.
08:27How many are these in there?
08:29I have edgy and elegant.
08:31But this whole thing is very subjective.
08:33So, there's a little bit of freaking out inside.
08:35God, you act like it's your first day.
08:37Everyone in line?
08:38Whew.
08:39I was trying not to freaking sweat today.
08:42I gotta calm down.
08:43All right, designers.
08:44That's it.
08:45That's time.
08:46Whew.
08:48Coming up?
08:49Picture this.
08:50You're wrapping her up in a big scarf.
08:52Looking like a golden girl going to lunch.
08:54Like I do one black outfit, I'm basic.
08:56No, not basic.
08:57I feel like I'm damned if I do.
08:58I'm damned if I don't.
08:59Hey, here we are.
09:00Hello world.
09:01Yes.
09:02So, my inspiration for my garment is every single woman that exists on this planet.
09:16We are told that we need to be sexy, but without makeup.
09:20And we need to be modest, but we need to have the sex appeal.
09:24So, I'm making a corseted bodysuit with a full length long sleeve gown out of transparent lace.
09:31Because I think that women can be sexy and also be covered in fabric.
09:39What's your thing again?
09:40Bold and basic.
09:42So, like a basic hoodie, but it's like a gown.
09:45Yeah.
09:46To be black and throw on a hoodie, it's like you have to make sure you walk in the room with a sort of confidence and not slouch or look a certain way.
09:55I literally remind myself to take my hood down when I walk into stores because it's been times when someone is following me because they think I'm about to steal something.
10:06People assume things just because I have a hoodie on.
10:10Hi, everybody.
10:11Hey.
10:12Hey, Christian.
10:13Hey, girl.
10:14Hey.
10:15Look at this room.
10:16Wow.
10:17All right.
10:18I'm coming to see what you got.
10:21Hello.
10:22Hello.
10:23What's your opposing styles?
10:24Classic and trendy.
10:25Classic and trendy.
10:26I want to take a classic blazer.
10:28Okay.
10:29I'm going to flip it into a jumpsuit.
10:30Uh-huh.
10:31Got it.
10:32So basically it's a jumpsuit suit.
10:33Is that what's trendy?
10:34That it's a jumpsuit?
10:35Yes.
10:36Okay, that's the trend.
10:37And this is the base.
10:38And what will you see back there?
10:40Oh, you're going to see my sleeves.
10:43Oh, okay.
10:44Oh, these are in another fabric.
10:46Yes.
10:47You're making it so complicated.
10:49You don't even need this piece.
10:51Maybe, you're right.
10:52Yeah.
10:53I would try.
10:54Maybe.
10:55It's just going to add extra work for you.
10:56Maybe.
10:57You know what?
10:58I might not need it.
10:59Look at that.
11:00I'm trying to help you.
11:01I just like complicated things.
11:02I don't know why.
11:03I'm into it.
11:04I think it's going to be really cool.
11:06See you later.
11:07See you later.
11:08All right, Bishmi, tell me about your style.
11:13Basic and bold.
11:14So I'm doing like a hoodie gown.
11:16All right.
11:17It's not a very evening wear fabric.
11:19So kind of the basic is this hoodie dress.
11:22But what makes it bold is that you've turned it into this like corseted evening gown.
11:28I think maybe the balance a little bit more.
11:30So when you're finishing the details, the hoodie aspect of it I think should really show.
11:36So I think you have to make sure that it shows both things.
11:40Gotcha.
11:41Good luck.
11:43Hello.
11:44Hi.
11:45Hi.
11:46So I am formal casual.
11:49Formal casual.
11:50The idea is to actually do things that would normally be casual and formal fabrics and vice versa.
11:58That's a cool concept.
11:59Yeah, because apparently I'm basic.
12:02Wait, who said that?
12:03You guys said I was safe.
12:05Safe means basic to me.
12:07Kato, you are in.
12:11A little safe though.
12:13I don't take Sif as a compliment.
12:16To me it's kind of insulting.
12:18Black trouser, black sweater is a more normal thing.
12:24But there's the details of it.
12:25Which are hard to see in a fashion show all black.
12:28Trust me, I used to get in the same trouble.
12:30But I've been doing color since I got here.
12:32Like I do one black outfit, I'm basic.
12:34No, not basic.
12:35I feel like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.
12:39You called me to be here based on what I make.
12:41So game plan this week is to be a grown ass woman and continue to stick to my aesthetic, create things that are me because I know who I am.
12:49So anyways, that was yesterday, this is today.
12:52Jacket and then what else?
12:54I kind of wanted to give a formal moment.
12:56That makes it a bit more casual in the front with your short cropped jacket into this formal evening.
13:02Oh man.
13:03Yeah.
13:04I love that.
13:05See you later.
13:06Bye bye.
13:07Hi.
13:08I have oversized.
13:09Oversized.
13:10And fitted.
13:11And fitted.
13:12So I thought of this originally.
13:15I think the brocades make the clothes look kind of dated.
13:20Okay.
13:21You don't have anything else?
13:22I do.
13:23I have the other jersey.
13:24I hope that the judges notice the creativity in this look.
13:29I'm a very creative person.
13:31I have fresh new ideas.
13:33I'm always learning new things and techniques.
13:35And I don't believe that my work is dated.
13:37Like modern.
13:38For sure.
13:39For sure.
13:40Goodbye.
13:41Bye.
13:42Brittany.
13:43How's it going?
13:45I have modest and sexy.
13:48There's not a part of her body that's not covered with fabric.
13:52But the fabric essentially is what's making it sexy.
13:54It's sheer.
13:55Yeah.
13:56And then this would be the corseted bodysuit.
13:58Oh.
13:59You just have to make sure that this little corset underneath is stunning.
14:02Yeah.
14:03This is different.
14:04Different for you.
14:05Good luck.
14:10Hello, Prajay.
14:11Hi, Christian.
14:12Send me to my office.
14:13So tell me your styles.
14:15What are you doing?
14:16So it's elegant and edgy.
14:18And it's not necessarily evening gown, but it's long with the high slit in the front.
14:25So it's long, high slit in the front, but it's not a gown.
14:28It's a gown.
14:30And then over it, I'm building these.
14:33Oh, these like origami.
14:35Yes.
14:36This origami technique is so different and fresh.
14:40Yeah.
14:41And I think will be exciting.
14:42I've been experimenting with origami.
14:44I've done it in different forms, but the judges haven't seen it yet.
14:48I don't know if that's edgy enough.
14:51Yeah.
14:52I think you need to sell edge for the dress to be edgy.
14:57Good luck.
14:58Is this it?
14:59How do you feel about this double binding thing?
15:08You know, because you don't smile all the time.
15:10People always, you know, judge you before they get to know you.
15:14When I was a kid, I was already dreaming about becoming an artist and I love fashion.
15:19But in school, it was mad racist.
15:21I hate when people tell me what I can and cannot do.
15:23So I went to fashion school and how it's doing me.
15:26The sky's the limit.
15:27I think that's why we chose fashion.
15:28So we could be free, right?
15:29Be free to express myself how I want.
15:30Yeah.
15:31Who is ready for a model?
15:34Yes, yes, yes, yes.
15:35What is today's challenge?
15:49Modest, but sexy.
15:52Let's do this.
15:53Did it work?
15:54Yeah, I listened to you.
15:55Look at that.
15:56I saved you time.
15:57Saved me some time.
15:58I haven't saved you in any of this yet.
16:01Gonna be like underwear.
16:03Legs out all like I think that makes it more sexy agree
16:14What is it Christian picture this let me picture it all
16:20Throughout it's gonna be all over
16:24Does that look cool? It does it's a lot of fabric. Yeah, you're right. I mean I'm gonna make scar
16:29Looking like a golden girl going to lunch. I love the goddamn golden girls
16:35All right, I hope it translates I mean let's undress you so I can get this to translate for Christian hmm
16:42You can take this off
16:46All right designers that's time
16:54Right three hours left to work tonight. I'll see you tomorrow for the show
16:59Thank you
17:02She basic all right why are you looking sad like you missed the bus and that was the last bus
17:08I'm trying to figure something out for tomorrow to see what I can do
17:14No
17:16I've officially ran out of ideas taking my fabric out from mood made me realize that I only have enough to do what I
17:24I've originally planned so it wouldn't make sense to dig a deeper hole for myself
17:29I'm just gonna stick with what I have and try to figure something out
17:33You got to sleep now
17:39One down one to go
17:43Let's just keep hearing the word basic and bold I grew up being anything other than who I am
17:49Allowing people to call me quarto and not saying it's cutthole what you do matters
17:54I'm an immigrant. I'm a mom. I'm a designer. You can be all those things and fulfill your dream
17:59Two hours left
18:00God damn it
18:01I'm sorry
18:06As each week passes we're getting closer to the end
18:09Run
18:10Not only are we physically tired
18:12It's gonna put like a walking zombie like our brains aren't working. Oh
18:15My eyelashes are barely hanging on this challenge has literally pulled out all of our brain cells
18:21So you guys shake that ass a little bit loosening your brain up
18:28I'm so dead my heart is racing that's time
18:32Ready to go to the night lounge for a little R&R. Let's do it
18:36Becoming delirious we're so delirious at this point you guys feel good being on top
18:45I feel like I had to work ten times harder to get in this top six than the other top six
18:49Oh, yeah, for sure. I mean you're working with some of the best to ever do it
18:53Period
18:55I don't wanna say out loud that I hate my look, but hey, I hate my look
18:59Is this why you're down right now a little bit? Okay. I take my work serious like I'm I really like but like
19:06Not to a point where you're like completely turn like that. Yeah, you are you much older than me, too
19:11What are you trying to say?
19:13all y'all
19:14Seriously
19:15Another runway day
19:20It's a one day challenge
19:24I mean, what are you running to?
19:26You think you're gonna get 30 minutes more?
19:2830 seconds more?
19:30I think this double bind challenge is difficult because it's so subjective and how you define it and how the judges define it
19:37Could be so different so it's really like you have to go with your gut and pray you can live this one through
19:43Good morning, everybody
19:46All right, let's get the models in here
19:48Hey
19:52Yeah
19:54Finishing the top we read
19:58You see me
20:00I'm afraid to let this out because
20:04Does it feel like it's gonna write up if you walk?
20:06I'm super happy with this look. It's just a different interpretation I think than what everybody else is doing and I hope the judges will appreciate that
20:14For Britney's look, all I see is sex, but that's the dress you put on to get laid
20:18All right designers when you're ready take your models to the makeup studio and the tresemme hair salon
20:25We're back again
20:27I'm Rami. Nice to meet you
20:29So I want like something super sleek very tight very low clean tight like bun
20:35So I'm gonna start by using the tresemme pro infusion smooth tonic
20:39It takes away a little bit of frizz and I keep your hair hydrated as well
20:43So I want to do like a sleek pony kind of like the the idea of some texture, but very
20:50Sophisticated I'm gonna use a tresemme once a curl cream to like help me keep the waves. I
20:57Want this to kind of show like I really want a little like a peak of a skin
21:02What's happening over here? No jacket?
21:05The fabric is not working enough in the jacket
21:08So I decided to use this element as the oversized element. Uh-huh the cape sleeve and like drapes into her you mind walking and like yeah
21:15Let's see how that and then the slim fitting is like the bodycon shape of the dress
21:23Rami's look I see the fitted. I don't see the oversized so he definitely made a lot of changes
21:28Before the runway doesn't really look like Rami either. It looks like a survival outfit
21:43Oh
21:45Heavy what you think I love it for me. It feels a little like
21:51dinosaur
21:52Heavy costume at the top. It's not costume. We're not gonna throw that out on the air
21:56This is architecture. I might take this one off so I can have a little softer at the show. Yeah, the shoulders. That's a good idea. Yeah
22:05Okay
22:07Laurence, how's it going? It's going almost there. Okay
22:12Chic simple just one color the color the color. Yeah
22:17I have a lot to do. I have to put this pants together. I love it when I finish it
22:23I want to finish it and I'll be fully in love
22:26All right, cut up. Are you good? I love it short. I'm glad you made it short
22:33No, hopefully they do too Christian. Not so much
22:35Can you send a text message on my behalf? Oh, it's a lot less fabric. It's great. It's gonna be like tight and cute
22:41Yeah, I think I'm gonna leave it open
22:43Oh
22:44Show some skin with no no bra or anything?
22:47Okay. I only have this white power mesh that I have dyed dark green now
22:52I would love to do some line work. Take that one. I'll bring back what I don't use
22:56Cuttoe has this really thin neoprene
22:59Knock yourself out babe
23:00So I can top stitch this onto the top of the boning to where it looks like the casings are made in black
23:05Is it gorge? Yes, you're gonna bead that whole thing in like an hour? Yeah, I think to create a bold element
23:20I just have to hand sew the beaded lace onto the top of the bustier because without it. It's
23:27Definitely basic. Hmm. This side is done. He be pushing nerves
23:31When he isn't doing well, he doesn't like the challenge, but when he's doing great. He loves the challenge
23:38Christian, I don't know why you're trying me with his scissors right here. I don't know why. Good thing. Get the walkin
23:44All right designers ten minutes ten minutes left. Where's Mimi?
23:51Oh, there she goes. Are you getting dressed?
23:53I'm with it. Laurence, what are you doing?
23:57You're good? Mm-hmm. Five minutes and she's got to be in it. Okay
24:02All right, I think we're good girl. Woo!
24:04All right designers, that's it. That's time. Laurence, let's go. Proje.
24:09Come on, I know you want to. There you go. I know that's what you want.
24:12Laurence, get your... Get!
24:14I got my bag.
24:16All right, designers, I see lots of threads and all kinds of zipper issues.
24:23Maybe there isn't a very clear oversized element in this design, but I hope that the judges will see the effort into an oversized cape sleeve detail.
24:33Let's cut this before I forget. One minute. Thread.
24:36Oh, . Sexy. Sexy.
24:39All right, designers, that's time. That's it. Let's start this show. It's going to be amazing.
24:44Hi.
24:50Hi.
24:52Everyone's looking very energized this evening.
24:54Oh, no. This evening?
24:56You only had 12 hours, right? Yeah.
24:59Designers, it's good to see everybody. Congratulations on being the top six.
25:05Thank you, Brandon. Thank you.
25:06Great job. You've made it through.
25:08Designers, please meet your guest judge for this challenge.
25:12She's a master of taking traditional styles and giving them a modern inflection.
25:17She's one of Fashion Week's hottest tickets, New York City native Bat Sheva Hay.
25:23Hey.
25:27Bat Sheva Hay is an amazing designer. She does modesty clothing at its finest. That is also fashion forward. So this is the perfect person to judge our looks.
25:38Hi, everyone. It is such a pleasure to be here. I'm so excited to see what you guys did.
25:44Thank you, too.
25:45Two styles, one look. We can't wait to see what you guys did.
25:49All right, let's start the show.
26:01The fabric is so beautiful. I know that I have done both modest and sexy and what that interpretation was for me.
26:08This is so good.
26:09And I'm really, really proud of the look that I've made.
26:16It's...
26:17Did she say ?
26:18I can stand next to this explaining where the modesty comes in and where the sexiness comes in.
26:31This is definitely one of those looks that represent me. You don't make origami in a one-day challenge. It's kind of crazy. And I went and did it.
26:46My girl is looking tight. I love it. I see the classic and the trendy and it's absolutely clear.
27:14For me, there was no confusion there.
27:22How does one get into that?
27:25You say I represent myself as a designer. I did.
27:44I really feel like this dress is very suited for Emily. The skin cutouts make it sexy. The black makes it kind of chic and edgy.
27:53The way the cape is moving around looks really interesting. It's like the cape built into the hem and then goes into the top. She looks really stunning.
28:04And looking at this dress on Emily, I'm really proud of it. So, it really comes down to Judge's personal taste at this point.
28:12It's going to be hard to pick three bottoms. It's going to be hard to pick three bottoms. Not that hard.
28:18This is probably the first time ever that I'm just hoping that I'm safe.
28:30I'm not sure how great of a job I did, but I'm just happy that I got it done.
28:35Like, I never can tell if your face is like, I love this or I hate this. It's just straight down the middle.
28:44This whole look screams cut to mummalu and elegance. These pants, the bomber.
29:05You definitely see the casual and formal. Like, I did the challenge.
29:09And this look represents who I've always been since I showed up here and who I will continue to be.
29:17I'm shooketh. Me too.
29:20Who is who? I have no idea.
29:28The six of you had the highest and lowest scores.
29:33One of you will be the winner and one of you will be out.
29:37I thought you guys did an amazing job. I'm honestly blown away at the level of talent and it's a hard challenge to hit two different notes.
29:55And I'm really, really impressed that you did it, especially in such a short amount of time.
29:59Thank you. Thank you.
30:00Designers, we would like to speak to all of you tonight before making our decision.
30:07Laurence, why don't we start with you? Let's get your model out here.
30:14Laurence.
30:15Yes.
30:16You had classic and trendy. What's classic? What's trendy?
30:20Classic, I took a blazer and trendy was a motorcycle pants.
30:24Is it a jumpsuit or is it a top and bottom? It's a jumpsuit.
30:28So I love the duality of this.
30:31And I love that play of it's classic in the back and the front is trendy party, whatever you want to call it.
30:36Well done. Beautiful execution as usual.
30:40I love it.
30:41I love it.
30:42I love it.
30:43I love it.
30:46To me, this looks like something that you would own now and then you would own it in 20 years.
30:49So to me, it's a classic.
30:50Okay.
30:51But I've really taken aback by your ability on any model that you get to tailor so beautifully in such a short amount of time.
30:59I love the color. The red just popped off the runway. I love the sharp shoulders, the fit of that pant. Again, it's just chef's kiss.
31:09It's so good.
31:12Thank you, Laurence. You can leave the runway.
31:13Thank you, guys.
31:16Vishmi, we'd like to talk to you next. Let's get your model out of here.
31:18Oh, my.
31:19I am.
31:22So what two styles did you get?
31:25Basic and bold.
31:26I'm curious, how did you interpret basic?
31:29I took the basic for the fabric and for the idea of a hoodie and just turned it into a gown for like the bold aspect.
31:36I don't know how successful it was, Vishmi.
31:38The sparkly accents on the bust made the look feel a bit dated and it went a bit beauty pageant.
31:45Got you.
31:46I'm curious, like, just in terms of the silhouette, why did you go to that one?
31:51Because I thought that this would work.
31:53That hoodie needed to feel effortless and it is feeling forced. But I think you try to push it so much into being sexy that it's struggling.
32:08For me, of all of the looks, I feel like you actually kind of nailed the directive the best in a way.
32:16I really did get the bold color gown with the boning. And then at the same time, like, that hoodie and the fabric, like, I never would have attempted to make a gown like that in that fabric, you know?
32:29Oh, thank you.
32:30Thanks, Vishmi.
32:32Shanae, you can leave the runway.
32:33Yeah.
32:34All right, Rami, we'd like to speak with you next.
32:37Sure.
32:43Rami?
32:44What were your words?
32:45I have fitted and oversized.
32:47All right, I feel that the fitted is self-explanatory.
32:49Yes.
32:50I'm curious about oversized.
32:51The oversized is the extended cape sleeve that is a part of the train that folds over.
32:57And tell us about this look.
32:58It's a silk jersey. And when I thought of the fitted, I decided to drape the skirt.
33:04I do think this is more fitted than oversized. I wish you could have found a way to make that cape maybe more billowy.
33:15It doesn't give me the juxtaposition between fitted and oversized.
33:20That was my same thought when I saw it.
33:22Do you feel like it's oversized?
33:24I mean, I started with a jacket and then I changed direction.
33:27So I decided to go for the sleeve instead afterwards.
33:30I wanted more from the cape.
33:32Mm-hmm.
33:33And I wanted to see something a bit more dramatic.
33:38Right.
33:39So I'm wondering how that connects the skirt to the dress.
33:43It actually drapes into this neckline here.
33:46And it's...
33:47And then it ties around from that?
33:48Yes.
33:49I think it's very beautiful.
33:51And the draping, it's super chic.
33:54But as far as the challenge goes, maybe not tip top, but it's a great look.
33:59Thank you so much. I appreciate that.
34:01I think you made some good decisions that were the right ones for her proportion.
34:05But at the end of the day, the job is to put something down the runway that is a beautiful, memorable look.
34:12And for me, you did that tonight.
34:14Thank you for saying that. I appreciate it.
34:16Thank you so much.
34:17Thank you, Rami.
34:18Emily, you can leave the runway.
34:21Rajay, you're up next.
34:28All right, what words did you have?
34:30Elegant and edgy.
34:31All right, tell us about your look.
34:33The elegant, I know I could work with, but the edgy, the first thing that came to mind was art.
34:38So I'm like, you know what, let's just go bold and give it an edge by creating this architectural origami top there.
34:46I definitely get the elegant side of things.
34:49The part that I think maybe wasn't so balanced was the edgy part of it.
34:54I also feel like the color choice was maybe a little too, you know, old fashioned.
35:01I really appreciated the fact that you made it architectural origami-esque.
35:07And I could see a very good idea that could be translated into other things.
35:14But for me, it was safe.
35:16It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't my least favorite.
35:20You know, this part is very interesting and makes you want to lean in to understand it.
35:25I think it's a conversation piece.
35:27Yeah, I agree.
35:28There was a lot of great work in the top.
35:31What is the technique?
35:32It's press, fold, press, fold.
35:34And it's fused in something?
35:36It's fused a couple of times with heavy facing to give it like a cardboard structure,
35:41so you can actually create the shape.
35:44Thanks, Rajay. Mimi, you can leave the runway.
35:47Okay, Kato, you're up next.
35:50Hi, Carol.
35:53Tell us what button did you draw?
35:55Casual and formal.
35:58All right, tell us about the look.
35:59I wanted to do kind of like the take on the ball skirt, so they're ball pants.
36:03With the bomber, I wanted to be tailored and have some elements that still kind of connect the two together.
36:09The pant is love.
36:11The jacket, I just wasn't sure about.
36:14The fit doesn't seem right.
36:18I hate to disagree with Bajiva.
36:21I like the jacket.
36:23I think where you lost me was with the brocade oversized pant.
36:30Here, I just felt like you needed something a little more streamlined.
36:35That's funny you say that, because last week I did a gray tailor pant with the sweater with the leather details.
36:40And I was just about to talk.
36:42And you told me I was safe.
36:43Right.
36:44Because safe to me means kind of boring and just basic.
36:46No, no, I didn't say boring.
36:47I said safe.
36:48Yeah.
36:49On the runway with all the dresses and all those big moments, it felt like one of the most safe things.
36:55I really feel like when I come up here, I get these mixed messages.
37:08It's interesting.
37:09It sounds like you feel like you're getting mixed messages, which may be informing some of the decisions that are being made.
37:15And it's helpful to hear that.
37:16But the fit of the pant is impeccable.
37:19And the design of the pant is really impressive.
37:22I think for me where it fell short was the choice to use that brocade print.
37:26It feels dated.
37:27I don't want to have that title on me.
37:29Like, it's not cool or it's not modern.
37:32You said before that your consumer is mature.
37:35Yeah, mature.
37:37Maturity means independence.
37:39So maturity for me is being able to take care of yourself and know where you're going and do it fully
37:44without depending on anything or anybody else.
37:47Just because she's mature doesn't mean she can't be fresh, forward-looking, and have a cool factor.
37:52That's what's lacking.
37:53That's what we'd love to see more of.
37:55I stand by it.
37:56It does represent who I am.
37:58And I'm not for everybody, so it's all right.
38:01Thank you, Kato.
38:03Wren, you can leave the runway.
38:11Okay, Brittany, we'd like to talk to you next.
38:13All right, what two styles did you have?
38:23Sexy and modest.
38:24All right, tell us about the look.
38:26What I wanted to do is have the silhouette and the style of the dress be modest.
38:31So whenever I thought sexy, I thought of lace.
38:35I think it looks beautiful.
38:37It definitely screams like Met Gala to me.
38:39I could really imagine that shape in a fabric I'd traditionally do, but it's beautifully made, so I love it.
38:47I understand the shape in itself is intended to be modest.
38:53I know, I know.
38:54But it's fully transparent for that modesty.
38:57I love the work that you did on the sleeves.
39:00All in all, I thought it was a really beautiful look.
39:04Brittany.
39:05I really love this design, and I could see you doing this in a lot of different fabrics.
39:10This is unexpected coming from you, and it's nice to see your range.
39:13I appreciate that you really stepped out of your comfort zone.
39:17I will agree with Nina.
39:18It's not necessarily the most modest thing I've ever seen in my life.
39:20I know.
39:21Thank you, Brittany.
39:22Lose, you can leave the runway.
39:23Thank you, designers.
39:25You've given us a lot to talk about, and bring it back out when we're ready.
39:29All right.
39:30You can leave the runway.
39:33It was a tough challenge.
39:35All right, we're at the final six.
39:38This particular challenge today is so hard to judge because fashion is very subjective.
39:46Absolutely.
39:47Right?
39:48The words used to describe this duality.
39:52Are you kidding?
39:53I would sit there for 12 hours and be in a full-blown spiral.
39:58I would just be crying in mood.
40:00Like, literally.
40:01They'd find me, like, in the corner.
40:02I don't know what we're going to do.
40:04Only one person can win Project Runway.
40:06Unfortunately, not six.
40:07So let's talk about our favorites.
40:09Yes.
40:10I can talk about Laurence.
40:11I thought it was really spectacular.
40:14It was interesting.
40:16It was angular.
40:17It was, like, business in the front, party in the back, with the different fabrics.
40:21The big surprise of the night for me was the fact that this was Brittany.
40:27Her interpretation was very chic.
40:30She interpreted this challenge in a way that I appreciate and that she made it cohesive.
40:35She really did a great job.
40:38Yes.
40:39Well, Nina, what do you think about Rami's look?
40:42I loved Rami's look.
40:43I've never really seen Rami construct anything oversized.
40:48But I also thought there was something really beautiful about that drape.
40:52He didn't really make something oversized, but who wouldn't wear that?
40:56I would wear that.
40:57It would hit me in all the right spots.
40:58All right, now we need to discuss who's going home tonight.
41:03Let's start by talking about Praje.
41:05With Praje, he interpreted edgy as artful, and it just kind of fell flat for me.
41:11I appreciate that he wants to show us that he does evening wear, but find a way to deliver that with the cool factor that we've come to know you for.
41:19I think the elementary colors didn't read in any way elegant for me.
41:25It wasn't a total failure, but it wasn't all it could have been.
41:30Can we talk about Bhishmi?
41:33The bedazzling was kind of tasteless.
41:36I came off such a high with him last challenge that felt so new and fresh.
41:41And to go back to this look, it's just really so confusing.
41:47Obviously, not perfect.
41:49Like, you could see all of the ways it didn't work.
41:52The slip was a little crazy.
41:54You know, now talking about Cateau, I wonder if you all feel that this was an interesting idea.
41:59It's tough.
42:00I mean, I think the formal and casual was there, like bomber jacket and, like, fancy fabrics.
42:07But for me, the jacket just was, like, not desirable.
42:12I think the volume of that pant really drowned her model.
42:18The design of the pants was really great.
42:21I think all three of them had issues.
42:23And it's hard for me to decide which one is worse than the other.
42:28This is tough.
42:30So, obviously, this was a very difficult challenge to judge because of how subjective these words are.
42:42And we want you to know that we definitely took that into consideration when we judged tonight.
42:46Laurence, Brittany, you had our two favorite looks of the night.
42:56Congratulations.
42:59But only one of you can be the winner.
43:04The winner of this challenge, best showcase their contrasting styles.
43:09The winner is...
43:14Laurence.
43:20That's three wins for you, Laurence.
43:22Not bad.
43:23Not bad.
43:24I take it.
43:27Brittany, you are in.
43:31And Ronnie, you are also in.
43:34Thank you so much.
43:36The three of you can lead the runway.
43:39I didn't come back just to play.
43:40I came back to make it to the finale and do it right this time.
43:45It's an accomplishment.
43:47We did it.
43:52Are you okay?
43:53Yeah.
43:54I've never been top five before.
43:55Oh, really?
43:56No?
43:57Oh, congrats.
44:01Prajay, Bishmi, Kato.
44:06Two of you will be in and one of you will be out.
44:15Prajay, you are in.
44:20You may leave the runway.
44:21I love you.
44:22I love you.
44:23Proud of you.
44:24Bishmi, we really liked the idea of your look, but unfortunately the execution fell flat.
44:38The embellishments felt unnecessary and ultimately the look didn't come together.
44:50Kato, the print and volume of your fabric felt overwhelming.
44:56And in the end, we were underwhelmed by the design.
45:01Kato?
45:02I'm sorry, but you are out.
45:03Mm-hmm.
45:04I figured.
45:05Yeah.
45:06Bishmi, that means you are in.
45:07Mm-hmm.
45:08It's been a pleasure having you on the show, and we wish you all the best.
45:14You guys be blessed, thank you.
45:31See what's your mind.
45:35Thank you so much. You both can lead the runway.
45:40All right.
45:41Thank you. Thank you.
45:44You know, I stepped on this runway 14 years ago doing what I love.
45:48And I'm not a young chicken anymore, but, you know, I still make beautiful clothes for people who love it.
45:53And I'll continue to do that.
45:54I told y'all.
45:57It's been my pleasure.
46:00I have never not gone to the finale, but it's all good.
46:04It's all good.
46:04It's okay. Don't cry for me.
46:07I'm not wasting any tears on this.
46:09I love you.
46:12All right.
46:18I love you.
46:20The toe.
46:21Ugh.
46:23You're so amazing, so talented.
46:25I know.
46:26Yeah.
46:27Exactly.
46:28I know who I am.
46:29I know what I do.
46:30There's nothing wrong with my outfit.
46:32There's nothing ill-fitting about it.
46:34I don't care what anybody says.
46:35It was precise.
46:37I'm a good tailor.
46:38I'm a good designer.
46:39I'm a great designer.
46:40And I made beautiful things in my life, and I'll continue to.
46:43So nothing that's been said today is going to take anything from me.
46:46Yeah.
46:47But I didn't come into a competition to play a game.
46:49I came into it to play fairly and have a real, true chance.
46:54And there's nothing I designed tonight that was not what it was supposed to be.
46:57So I wish y'all all the luck.
47:00Y'all were the gifts, and y'all were the prize.
47:02Peace out.
47:03Love you.
47:03Love y'all.
47:04Love y'all.
47:04Love y'all.
47:04Love y'all.
47:05This is my legacy walk, where I tell my story to all my mentees, all those people that follow
47:10me.
47:10And just to say, you know what?
47:11If no one sees you, I see you.
47:14I see you, African designers.
47:15I see you, mothers who are working and multitasking.
47:18Every single one of you have everything within you.
47:21You need to be who you are, to be great, to be amazing.
47:25Just tap into that, and you can't lose ever.
47:27Next, on Project Runway All-Stars.
47:35Your challenge, embrace the peacocking trend and create a striking menswear look.
47:43Bring in the men.
47:45Nice to meet you, man.
47:46You're wearing your wedding ring today?
47:47This reminded me to put it on.
47:49This is your chance.
47:51Get on the top again.
47:53Have I seen it before?
47:54Yes.
47:55It's a confused businessman who moonlights at an S&M bar.
47:59It didn't peacock enough.
