00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:02Hey!
00:03Your unconventional materials challenge
00:05is to create runway looks from toys.
00:09You've got dragons.
00:12What is that dinosaur?
00:15Stress is real, ain't it?
00:17What the?
00:18Why are you crying?
00:19You're asking the baby.
00:20Oh, my God.
00:21I'm going to do unconventional,
00:23but I have the right not to like it.
00:26The look transcended the materials it was made of
00:29and delivered full-on couture.
00:32The winner is Victor.
00:33Oh, my God.
00:36Mila, Laurence, and Rami.
00:39You all missed the mark for different reasons.
00:41I'm so sorry, but Mila,
00:43unfortunately, tonight you are out.
00:49Just one more time.
00:55Fashion designer Christian Siriano,
00:58journalist Elaine Welteroff,
01:00fashion designer Brandon Maxwell,
01:02and editor-in-chief of Elle magazine Nina Garcia

01:08At stake for the winner,
01:10a quarter of a million dollars
01:12supplied by Pilot Friction erasable pens,
01:14a feature in Elle magazine,
01:16and a career-changing mentorship
01:18with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
01:21This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:28You okay?
01:29My sister.
01:30I know.
01:31I'm coming here to hug you.
01:32It's okay.
01:34It's tough.
01:35Guys, it's tough.
01:36Listen, you're going to get softer by the end of this conversation.
01:38On my season.
01:39I never rocked the bottom.
01:40Not a single time.
01:41Yeah, I'm good.
01:42So you got to rebuild yourself.
01:44Make sure that they see you the next time.
01:46Yeah, that was a wild one, right?
01:47That was really crazy.
01:48Everyone's so good that you just never really know.
01:51Get some rest, and I'll see you real soon.
01:54Ooh, mystery.
01:56Bye.
01:57Mystery.
01:58So what are you feeling the next challenges, you guys?
02:00Honestly, after this,
02:01it's either going to be, like, bridal or, like...
02:05I'm all about a drag queen.
02:06Give me a drag queen.
02:07Give me a drag queen.
02:13It's the queen.
02:18Everybody look faster.
02:20Long live the king.
02:25That's me.
02:27Done with this.
02:29Okay.
02:30The world just witnessed a historic coronation right across the pond.
02:35And in celebration of this momentous occasion,
02:39we want you to create a formal gown fit for royalty.
02:45Oh, my goodness.
02:47Yes!
02:48Keep in mind, gowns can go quite dated very quickly,
02:53so this needs to feel modern, fresh.
02:55Royal of today, you know.
02:58Cool. Innovative.
03:00And the good news is...
03:03We're dividing you up into teams of two.
03:05Go!
03:06Go!
03:07Go!
03:10We dread team challenges so much
03:12because it's about compromising.
03:14One, two, one, two.
03:16Fitting that we're working with monarchy
03:18because there's a lot of diplomacy involved.
03:20So, to determine the teams,
03:23everyone's gonna grab one of these fabulous little tea sandwiches.
03:27Okay?
03:28But don't take a bite.
03:29Grab one.
03:30Okay.
03:31Ladies first.
03:32Oh, thank you.
03:34You guys are gonna find someone who has the same sandwich as you,
03:38and that will be your teammate.
03:40Who has watercress tomato and cream cheese?
03:42That's me and you, baby.
03:43Woo-hoo!
03:45Victor won the last challenge, and I won the first challenge,
03:47so we are the two winners.
03:48Excellent!
03:50Excellent!
03:52Coronation chicken.
03:53Oh, my gosh!
03:54Oh, my gosh!
03:55I'm so happy!
03:58We're about to get this poppin'.
03:59We are.
04:00Oh, my goodness.
04:01Even though you're in a team of two,
04:03only one of you will be going home.
04:06Damn!
04:07This is a two-day challenge.
04:08Victor, you won the last challenge.
04:10That means your team gets first pick of models.
04:13Oh!
04:14Isn't that nice?
04:15Yeah!
04:16One look, one model.
04:18There you go.
04:19You pick.
04:20Jessica.
04:21Jessica M.
04:22Jessica M.
04:23We're done.
04:24All right, who'd you pick?
04:25Wren.
04:26Phab.
04:27Who'd you pick?
04:28Jessica M.
04:29Um.
04:31Let me see.
04:33Roberta Fabulous.
04:34We're doing mimi.
04:37Sarah.
04:40All right, so tomorrow morning, you'll go to mood.
04:43I won't be there.
04:44I have royal obligations, obviously.
04:46Oh, wow.
04:47How you're building?
04:48Each team will have a budget of $1,000.
04:52Not bad.
04:53You guys have 30 minutes now to brainstorm and sketch.
04:57I left your friction pens and your sketchbooks
04:59right over there.
05:00Bye-bye.
05:02So my fabric from home was given to me by a childhood friend.
05:04This wasn't made for royalty.
05:06I don't know what was.
05:07Oh, honey, yeah.
05:08I want to do African-Haitian, like, black royalties.
05:11So project's from Haiti, and I'm originally from Liberia.
05:14So immediately we know we're going for African-Haitian royalty.
05:18This is what this fabric was for.
05:20The girl to walk.
05:22And I want the judges to be like, ugh.
05:24Not just the jewels and all that, but the movement, like, water.
05:27And maybe the back is, like, literally a cape with a train.
05:32Yeah, I'm thinking, what about this?
05:34What about if it's not around this way?
05:36What if it goes up like a metal, like a flower?
05:41I like the romantic aspect of it,
05:43because it's feminine.
05:44Yeah, cool feminine.
05:46Yes.
05:46Mixing those two, like, elements.
05:48I'm actually really, really excited to have Anna as a partner.
05:50We're both extremely feminine designers.
05:53OK, and it's like two skirts in one.
05:56You have on it.
05:57OK.
05:57We are genderqueer.
06:00I feel like it's an opportunity to make a gown fit the aesthetic
06:04that we have.
06:05Yeah.
06:05And we can look at queendom in kind of a genderqueer,
06:08genderfluid way, where we're sort of subverting the idea
06:11of what queen is and subverting the idea of what a gown is.
06:15The future of queerdom.
06:16I honestly have a strong connection to the idea of femininity.
06:19However, the way I see myself doesn't always align with the way femininity
06:24is described in this modern world.
06:26So I am here to be that voice.
06:28We're really looking to make a statement piece about queer identity,
06:32about what it means to be a queen, what it means to be regal,
06:35in the future of what we see as this kind of gender-free,
06:38gender-fluid world.
06:40I love this.
06:41Like, this is gorgeous.
06:42Yeah, this is my number one love.
06:44And this is literally, I've been working with this.
06:45We're on the same page.
06:46Yeah.
06:47I work on a cape.
06:49You work on a gown.
06:50Yeah.
06:51I know I can make a dope-ass cape.
06:52I love my girl, Laurence.
06:54She's so gangster.
06:56We need to make sure that the dress and the cape fabric
07:00marries well.
07:01A sleeve and neckline detail could be really interesting.
07:04If we do want to do sculpture, I think
07:05that you have really cool shape.
07:07I am excited to be paired with someone
07:11who is extremely talented.
07:12This gown that we are creating is about to be a masterpiece.
07:15You don't want her to feel old.
07:17I want to make sure she's like, for sure.
07:20Team challenges are a challenge.
07:23It's partly about the design, but it's also partly
07:25about your working style with other people.
07:28All right, guys.
07:29Let's go home.
07:30Let's get it.
07:30Been a long day.
07:32Coming up.
07:34I want to be the leader.
07:35I want to do something different.
07:36I am not here to execute her vision.
07:39Yeah, I know how to do it.
07:40That was unpleasant.
07:48Each challenge is going to get harder and harder.
07:52One day you're in, one day you're out.
07:53You know, you're only as good as your last.
07:56It's like, you won the first challenge.
07:58I won the second.
07:59So there's a little target on her back.
08:01Yeah.
08:03You're unstoppable.
08:03OK, friends.
08:04It's time to go to Mood.
08:10Good morning, Mood.
08:11I can smell the fabric already.
08:14Designers.
08:16Christian is currently in my basement.
08:17Yeah.
08:19$1,000.
08:20Christ.
08:21Half an hour to have this bitch up.
08:24Are you ready?
08:24Yes.
08:25Yes.
08:25Let's go.
08:30Charmooze satin style, organza, chiffon.
08:32We're seeing these three here with this overlay.
08:36Picking gray as a color story is really intentional
08:39because gray is a color that does not dictate gender.
08:43We're keeping everything separate.
08:44So over the pants, there's a skirt.
08:46And then over this vest, there is a set of sleeves
08:48that harness everything in.
08:50I like this.
08:51This design is dedicated for an everyday woman.
08:54She could be a housewife.
08:56She could be a mother.
08:57But they still deserve to have, you know,
08:59a royal moment while wearing this beautiful gown.
09:01I'm going to take these for sure.
09:02This one, I'm just going to take four
09:04because they're so expensive.
09:05$1,000 is not really fit for a queen.
09:08I mean, come on, we had $2,000 to spend on toys
09:10the last challenge.
09:11How much is this $150?
09:12$200.
09:13It's $200?
09:14No way.
09:15Really?
09:15How much more do we have left?
09:18$500.
09:18Left?
09:19I'm about to buy the store.
09:21The fact that I'm using my special fabric from home
09:24actually takes off a whole $1,000
09:26that we won't have to spend in Mood.
09:27She's giving Haiti in.
09:29Yeah, she is giving Haiti.
09:30So mostly, we're looking for our masterpiece solid,
09:34the foundation of this garment.
09:36I think it might look good because it's patent.
09:38It looks rich.
09:39Victor really wanted to use a silver metallic leather
09:42that's a little bit harder than my normal style.
09:45But I want to give him that moment.
09:46He's really adamant about it.
09:47So I'm like, you know what?
09:48Go ahead and get it.
09:49We can always choose to not use it later.
09:52Two minutes!
09:54We have everything else, notions and stuff, right?
09:56No, we're good.
09:57I like to be crown king.
10:10I think this lining is a little bit, like, warm from the color from here.
10:11If this doesn't work out, use layers of this one will be fine too.
10:26I would say 90% of us are very type A control freaks.
10:31I am both of those things, as well as high strong.
10:35I can pass.
10:36I do the skirt.
10:37I got to, I got to pass the waist.
10:38I want to be the leader.
10:39I want to do something different.
10:41But I know Brainy has a very strong opinions all the time.
10:45Ah, this color, Victor, is so good.
10:48It's so rich.
10:49Victor and I are making this amazing royal purple silk Georgette gown with a metallic leather corset.
10:58I think that one.
11:00Pajia and I being miraculously, like, put together as, like, the gods in themselves said,
11:05you know what, be one.
11:07We decided to do a robe and a blue metallic.
11:10So once you think you got it, boom, it drops and there's this really beautiful gown.
11:15I mean, I'm thinking about it, does she have to be long in the front?
11:18She don't really have to, right?
11:19We could do the high-low.
11:20I love it.
11:20So we'll see her legs.
11:21Which is very, yes.
11:22It's very sexy too.
11:23It's very sexy.
11:24We can do pants and vests out of this, and the sleeves out of this, and the
11:28the skirt out of this.
11:29I believe true fashion embraces masculinity and femininity and creates an entirely new
11:34other form of gender representation.
11:36That's me beautiful.
11:37Yeah.
11:38So Fabio and I are really trying to treat this challenge as a chance for us to be a spokesperson
11:43for the queer generation.
11:44I'm feeling the vibes.
11:46What vibes?
11:47Like the good vibes, man.
11:49You're the sweetest partner ever, man.
11:52Since I've been on Project Runway, I had the opportunity to dress the Queen of Jordan.
11:58Having dressed royalty is like a huge honor for somebody like myself.
12:03When I first got the call, I just didn't believe it.
12:05I thought that it was a joke.
12:06To actually be flown first class and to be greeted at the Mandarin Hotel by Queen of Jordan
12:11herself.
12:12It's a moment that I will always remember.
12:14I'm going to go and connect the skirt together.
12:19Okay.
12:20Our girl is definitely a pop culture, like Beyonce.
12:23Or Celine Dion.
12:26This is that queen.
12:27We need to make it more sexy, more modern.
12:29So I'm making a corset in the middle with leather.
12:32That signature touch that if you see it, you know it's mine.
12:35You don't have it.
12:36Is that what you're making?
12:37Yeah.
12:38Okay.
12:39It's fine.
12:40Whatever.
12:41Like, you can just give the room for this part, and then you gather and praise the foes,
12:46right?
12:47Yeah, I know how to gather.
12:48I am not here to execute her vision.
12:51Just want to make it out of this team challenge alive.
13:03Who's the role you missed, bitch?
13:05Ow!
13:06Rami and I are creating a gown that has a very architectural detail but classic elements.
13:13I feel like it's more flattering if they fan out.
13:15Yes, we start.
13:16When we do the heavy appliques, you won't see that seam at all.
13:19Yes, that's what I did before.
13:20No, you won't see it at all.
13:21I think we knew straight off where our queen was from.
13:24Paris for you since you were born in Paris.
13:25Pretty much what does that know?
13:26And Germany for me since I was born in Germany.
13:29That's right.
13:30And thank you for adding the military twist for me since I'm an Air Force bride.
13:33Oh, you're welcome.
13:34A little black queen with a European twist, you know?
13:36I don't really want to say that her style is not mine.
13:39She will go fully soft.
13:41You know, I could be soft and hard.
13:43I just like to mix the two together.
13:45The cape is the hard one.
13:46I don't see a queen Lajon's fabric that feels too putty to me.
13:51I like all of that.
13:53Breaks my heart.
13:55Cut you like this.
13:56The fabric I bought from home is actually one complete fabric.
14:00It's on this nude mesh.
14:02So I'm cutting each one out as Prajay constructs the dress.
14:05She's serving rich bitch realness from Africa.
14:07I like where it's going.
14:09It just sparkles.
14:11We are going to give you the queen of Wakanda,
14:15representing us, the people.
14:21Okay.
14:22So you got the sleeves.
14:24I got the pants.
14:25And you're doing the vest now.
14:27Finishing up the vest.
14:28And tomorrow I'm diving into skirt territory.
14:30You got me.
14:31I got you, babe.
14:32That was unpleasant.
14:33Sorry to everyone.
14:34Did it all draped?
14:35I'll help you with that part.
14:36That corset is giving me life now.
14:39Victor and Kane's outfits.
14:42I have so many questions.
14:44Yeah.
14:45You know why I think it's going to be successful?
14:48Because it looks like it's like a custom made something.
14:51I don't think they've seen this before.
14:5315 minutes.
14:55I think from there, it's probably going to be ready for fitting.
14:58You've already got the leather corset already ready.
15:00That's a game plan.
15:01I think it's going to be really cool.
15:02This is done.
15:03We have to connect the bodice.
15:04Oh my God.
15:05Yes.
15:06Guys.
15:07You ain't got to go home.
15:08But you got to get the hell up out of here.
15:10Ready to go.
15:11So how do you feel about the walkthrough tomorrow when Christian walks in?
15:12When Christian comes to like you guys because you like current seasons, it's a different relationship.
15:24And even with the judges.
15:25When you hear like a judge saying, oh, it's so good to see you.
15:27And then you come back after so many years and you don't get any of that warm welcome.
15:29It just feels a bit off.
15:30You know what I mean?
15:43Considering that.
15:44to get any of that warm welcome.
15:46It just feels a bit off, you know what I mean?
15:48Considering that, I get that, what is this?
15:52Yes, some of us are OGs, some of us are new,
15:55but there's two OGs gone.
15:58But you know, like the way it is, they're fresh meat.
16:00You know, we've been doing this since the beginning.
16:03There's the respect to be due.
16:04We've been here, we've done it.
16:05I'm an OG and I still got it.
16:07God's been training me to get me ready.
16:10This is my time now.
16:11Here we go, here we go.
16:17Good morning, lovely dresses, we are back.
16:20Let's have a game plan.
16:21I just want to communicate what everybody's person's doing.
16:26So that way it's a partnership.
16:27I really want to remind her that this is a partnership.
16:30It is our vision.
16:31I want you to trust me with her heart.
16:32I trust you so much, especially the thing.
16:34I worked with you yesterday, I see how you like seriously,
16:37like backing all the two are together.
16:39I trust you so much technically.
16:41I trust you.
16:42You're right.
16:43I trust you.
16:44You're right.
16:45You're right.
16:46You're right.
16:46You're right.
16:47You're right.
16:48You're right.
16:49You're right.
16:50You're right.
16:51You're right.
16:52You're right.
16:53Look how gorgeous.
16:54Yeah.
16:55Hello everybody.
16:56Hi Kristen.
16:57How are you?
16:58Hi Kristen.
16:59Good.
17:00Everyone feeling regal and fabulous?
17:01Yeah.
17:02Well I love a gown so I'm coming to see you.
17:04Yay.
17:05Okay.
17:07hello what are we looking at this is African standard this is African style
17:13it's for the culture and then you know when she gets on the runway you do that
17:17reveal take it off and then you have this beautiful dress yeah it's a whole
17:23look yeah maybe it really just is about making this applique shine that's your
17:27star which I think you're doing a good job so far I think it just has to be
17:31like perfect all right guys trim trim trim yes hello what's happening here for us
17:40we wanted to showcase you don't have to be a queen to have royalty and be boys
17:45every woman at some moments in her life wants to have her royal moment as women
17:51who might even be housewives I feel like sometimes they're the unsung heroes that
17:56need to be celebrated I do think that this could be something more dramatic
18:03because it does feel a little safe I just think they're really gonna focus on
18:07what's so different like things that are a bit off will be better so I'm happy
18:14that Christian is testing us to kind of like bring our best I feel like it will
18:19add another cool factor to the already amazing gown that we're creating I see a
18:24cape yes so this kind of beautiful velvet leather cape and that is the
18:29fabric that she brought from home I'm known for a leather but this is my
18:34alternative to leather I call this my best side fabric that's my little French side
18:39it looks very rich looks very regal and elegant so that's the cape and then what
18:44goes underneath so I see a very icy over here I'm like I think you're
18:52channeling something I am channeling something yeah and this is where I'm
18:56thinking because like my dad was in the mail and Terry forever like this is my
18:59mom she always had on white she always had on these gloves lots of work
19:04thank you
19:07on the shoulders area here I need to see it more finished for me to have a real
19:13opinion to be honest with you hello gentlemen it's very purple over here yeah we
19:23both are very inspired by music so it's like like a music a music icon exactly and
19:30we really wanted to marry both of our aesthetics but push it right now it is
19:36looking a little bit medieval costume everyone knows that you can make
19:42incredible clothes so I think you could do something a bit cooler and more
19:48modern because you can do this tomorrow in like half an hour like this is not
19:53hard I mean I just I mean you know what I think it's really important to be a
19:57good team player in this challenge because I do love and respect Victor's work
20:02it's just tough to decide is this corset cool for this challenge are the judges
20:06gonna get you could do something really interesting here but I'm gonna push it
20:11bye thank you I'm wondering is this a good idea should we take the corset out if I
20:19was designing it by myself I would definitely edit more but I think I'm too
20:25respectful of Kane and I want to make sure that his voice is on the garment and
20:29mind voice too who's your royal regal queen moment so we're thinking monarch
20:36queer yeah so gender fluid that's why the pants come into play because we
20:40wanted to look like it is a gown but it's also for the future we're trying to
20:44dress the future of what we see us in our culture wear what you want to wear be
20:47you want to be like it doesn't matter anyone I mean literally anyone I think for
20:51us the ticket is really the skirt we have to go as big as possible Fabio and I keep
20:56talking about how we need to kind of bump it up into that regal category this is a fairy
20:59little land we're in yeah so the queen is she's from this planet her own planet and
21:08it's all women our queen is the queen of this imaginary planet we want to keep this queen very chic modern
21:16so this is the top and this is the goldie dress clearly it's very fairy like very ethereal romantic but
21:24it's about making sure this beading is placed because it looks like you just
21:28stuck them on the skirt you got to get this skirt done yeah you have a lot to do
21:33it took me six hours to make the skirt I'm not sure if I can finish this dress on time
21:39that looks like you stuck it on with a hot glue okay I can see that that's fair I don't know that's
21:46that's a good idea okay I'm just like now I'm confused they do think it looks period right now but
21:58I think if we saw parts of it I think it's gonna work at least get this done before she gets here we
22:08can put like the small ones there and get it heavy and then so you think I just put the whole fabric on
22:14it our plans are matching yeah it looks like this the more that we work on this look the more I can see
22:20the actual inspiration of the challenge come to life I actually came out to my mom in the midst of
22:28having her accept my choice to go to fashion school as a career choice it was a very hard struggle for
22:36the both of us until I became a finalist for project Romeo you've arrived that woman changed everything
22:41for us and that's why I keep coming back I'm really thankful thank you mom oh there he is hi designers
22:49all right let the model fitting begin I can get you started in the pants we are thinking of using
23:08this fabric for the head wrap has to be that yeah serving them goddess no it's gonna be sheer the
23:15back's gonna be open we're gonna make it dramatic the beading is sophisticated but you gotta make
23:19it like modern and young and fresh I like the idea of making it see-through and sexy here and opening
23:26the bath wow it's giving a little icy wear her skates I do not want any skating reference because first
23:34of all it doesn't look like a skating outfit I wish they connected somehow a little bit more because
23:39they feel really different maybe there's one thing that you could do to marry this to marry it okay
23:46this where the crinoline is is creating quite a shelf we were going for fullness maybe there's ways that
23:55you can create volume with just the tool or there's peplums or overlays or shapes or something else it is
24:04too late to make it from the pretty to edgy we just have to finish this dress is the armor gone no we
24:15wanted to do a modernized portrait color uh-huh are you gagging over it do you love it I'm almost there
24:23you're covering up the most beautiful part we don't know you guys play around with this it's
24:29getting there still needs some refining I mean she's kind of something else I'm in love with her she's
24:34something else just a bit hook an eye in there I don't know what this pant is it's not the most
24:42beautiful fitting pant yeah fab I think we can assume that the skirt works the top works and the
24:48harness works yeah and we should just flip those pants inside out and pin them and take them in right
24:51now all right designers say goodbye to your models all right designers I'll see you guys tomorrow good
25:00luck it's gonna be a stunning show oh I need an extra four hours please looks good I'm just gonna go
25:08ahead and put this on so no let's give it month and if it's too long I can just shred it okay I'm sorry
25:14it's time call it a nap is it raining oh my god I'm melting Jesus okay feels like I was just here five

26:58for you I didn't get the dress up memos somebody get him a crown please it's my honor to introduce our
27:08guest judge for this challenge he's dressed American royalty Michelle Obama cinematic royalty Gwyneth Paltrow
27:16and my good friend Wes Gordon thank you hi guys it's Wes Gordon one of my favorite designers of all time
27:25I'm so excited to be here today and I'm so excited to see this incredible challenge and the pieces
27:31you've made Colleen alrera is amazing this is my brand that's it all right let's bring on the gowns
27:38and start the show expecting to win this challenge I hope we're just safe I think that we're both
27:52thankful that we made something really pretty and that it's over I think we just did a pretty gown
28:02rather than having something different Roberta literally looks like European royalty I couldn't be
28:17happier I love the glove reference yes baby after rocking the bottom on the previous episode this is my
28:29redemption I'm putting myself in a top Wow a gown for a royal needs to be loud
28:48this is game of thrones our look is perfect for this challenge of gown for royalty Rihanna Beyonce JLo
29:04Gaga they would all wear this gown no question my heart is about to explode just by seeing the silhouette
29:13behind the scrim yes off with their heads honey yeah if the judges did not pick this as a top look I will lose it
29:35today because this is impeccable I'm feeling amazing seeing my look go down the runway Rami and I spent so
29:50much time creating such a chic and modern gown really well made for 15 hours incredible extraordinary
29:59the gown fits her like a glove the train looks really beautiful the way the sleeve wraps around from the
30:10shoulder down to the cape it's a sculpture it's really beautiful I'm so proud of it
30:14she comes out and is like whoa girl I'm even like who made this oh we made it okay
30:31cannot tell who in the hell is Harris you can see this regal royal young queen
30:44you guys well done there were no bad looks tonight can all of you please step up to the runway
30:57designers we've scored your designs and we would like to speak to all of you that's a twist there will
31:07be a winning and a losing team and someone from the losing team will be out
31:12designers we've scored your designs the winner will come from the winning team and someone from the
31:26losing team will be out all right let's get the first look out here I knew I heard her
31:34hi Rami Bishmi hello talk about your partnership tell us about your look we did an amazing job with
31:46just intersecting our strengths with each other understanding like what's the best thing that we
31:50can do for a woman that we feel like should be queen and not just coming from a royal family did you guys
31:57think about we're going to go safe we wanted to take elements from classic things and incorporate them in
32:02a new modern way I really enjoyed the simplicity of this classic gown silhouette that we have seen
32:09before but you made it modern you updated it this was one of the chicest dresses you guys have an
32:15amazing understanding of drape and pattern making thank you coming from you that's a big compliment so
32:19thank you for that but is this the one that stands out like that she is the one being crowned
32:24that's where I'm kind of hesitating I particularly love the drape of that half shoulder which looks like a
32:32half cape but why black if it's for everyday woman like how we were thinking sticking with black felt
32:40like it was a perfect choice for us I could see a young royal stepping into this big moment where I
32:47didn't think that you needed it was in the embroidery give us the modern tiara the fantastic ponytail
32:56fish me Rami thank you Sarah you can leave the runway hate to see it go yeah let's get the next look out
33:08here Brittany Anna tell us about your look so our queen is from an all-woman planet kind of like a
33:25wonder woman situation essentially the idea of this planet is that every woman is a queen and we
33:31really wanted to like keep it modern with embracing like the very feminine aspects of what we both do my
33:39eye would immediately went to the train if you would just turn around please it feels wilted it feels sad and
33:46heavy Nina it feels almost like a costume is she nipped at the waist or is that supposed to be wider it
33:54looks ill-fitting who did that I did the jet I got skirt Brittany what did you do the corset top and
34:03then the sleeve you know I love you both so it pains me to say that I don't love this look I wish
34:09that you gave us something that felt a little bit younger more modern we have seen some really
34:16inventive things from both of you this is when you really have to tap into who you know you are it's
34:22time to get risky okay Anna Brittany thank you both thank you thank you Brendan thank you thank you
34:28thank you okay moving on let's get our next look out here oh yeah we go oh Laurence Carisson tell us
34:40about your collaboration and about your look when I think of royalty I think of a cave in a beautiful
34:45gown and we really wanted a European queen like Laurence is born in Paris I'm an Air Force brat I
34:52was born in Germany Laurence brought this fabric from home and I know it's contrasting but I love a
34:58contrast Laurence so why did you choose to use your fabric from home on this challenge this is my
35:04Parisian inspiration which in the beginning I just wanted to show her the fabric I loved that
35:10immediately when your model came on the runway that I could see a piece of both of you because
35:15that so rarely happens when you're paired up together this is one of my favorite looks I love the sheer
35:23panels I love the intelligently placed ruffles I love the drama of the back when I think the cape is
35:30very chic very well made and I think the dress is quite beautiful I think they have no business being
35:36together I know that you don't like the cape I kind of love the cape I love that play of the black and
35:42the white I really liked it this was dressing a royalty from the future thank you thank you thank
35:49you Laurence thank you thank you Karisan thank you thank you okay let's get the next look out here
35:54oh it's us yes Victor Kane who is your royal where are they going our girl is definitely
36:09like Queen Bee Beyonce Lady Gaga we both dress celebrities and we're like why don't we do
36:15something that we already do the leather is me the the softness is hemp we just wanted to go from
36:21performance to beauty can you explain where the dress ends and the accessories begin so this is
36:27all a full dress this is nude illusion all the way to the neck also on the leg so where does the leg
36:32end it's sewn into the ways of the way here okay so with the exception of the corset the dress is one
36:38piece correct wow okay I found it to be more beautiful when you took the corset off let's take the corset off
36:47I am stumped of what to say because the work is there but the accessorizing is so over the top
36:58that it's hard for me to consider it as a gown and not a costume
37:06I am kind of stumped of what to say so who did what yeah who took it over the top this part was
37:21definitely my portion the corset draping and making the pattern was Victor Victor did the draping of the
37:30headpiece and then my main focus was the construction of the bodice you two are the winners of the last two
37:37challenges it's an explosive combination if this were a stage performance challenge you would have run
37:46away with the gold medal it just was too many things together Victor Kane thank you so much Ren you can leave
37:54the runway all right let's bring the model out Hester Fabio how did you arrive at this look we come
38:08from the New York underground queer scene we feel like we needed what a gown would look like for us
38:13yeah and what again would look like for the world we want to create because we really felt that there
38:17wasn't a representation of a queen who fit our perspective Mimi do you mind if we see the pants
38:21oh this slips off so she can go from it we actually designed like a three look collection so far we
38:26can go so brilliant like in 15 hours when I saw this I was like this is a risk but it made me very curious
38:37and very pleased I personally and it's subjective find this fabric to feel a little sad and older
38:47so we chose this color because to us it felt like the perfect mixture between like the black classic
38:53and the white classic evening so for us as looking at it as a non-binary or gender fluid we were trying
38:59to funnel that into the color of the work I love the drape of it I love the modernity of it I thought
39:05it was very successful Hester Fabio thank you thank you thank you shall we get our final look on the runway
39:15Kato Praje tell us about your collaboration together I'm 100 African born and raised on the
39:26continent and we wanted to tell the story of a people that were taken to different parts of the
39:30world everything we picked was very intentional from the blue fabric the flow of it the waters I
39:37mean there was a lot of traveling we've gone through so much and still to this day still fighting for
39:41rights so that's why we decided to create our queen when she steps into the room all eyes on her this
39:49beating here is Kato's fabrics from home and I have to give her great props and respect for actually
39:55wanting to use that in a team challenge you did something with styling that I think was quite important
39:59which is that you use the fabric from the opera coat which I love as the headpiece if you hadn't done
40:06that I'm not entirely sure how married together the coat and the dress would have been but that simple
40:13touch made the whole look so well done with that she looks special compliment coming from you I thought
40:21everything about it was the definition of what this challenge is about I've watched Kato for years so we
40:29knew this moment right there was already defined in the universe a lot of my inspirations are here
40:36that's why this group is so special yeah like these tears are just tears of joy this pot of soup is
40:42like ready and um I have something to say you have absolutely made the ancestors proud today
40:48without African fabric it's brilliant who did what can you just break it down Kato is all over the coat
40:56I did the dress and then she definitely did come and help a placement on this outfit I prayed to God
41:03like Lord let me guide him and not hurt his feelings but all these rhinestones can't go on this dress
41:08beautiful work YouTube Jessica you can leave the runway Jessica is such a believable queen oh my god
41:14yes designers there really wasn't a worst of the group it's just picking the smallest things out that being said we're gonna
41:25ask you to leave the runway while we decide who will win and who will go home thank you thank you thank you
41:30thank you thank you okay so the challenge was to create a gown fit for royalty I think that they
41:39all delivered yes but let's decide who stays who goes home I can genuinely say I do not know who's going
41:47home I know or who's winning so we know who's safe Hester and Fabio fish me and Rami fall somewhere in
41:56the middle agreed agreed let's do the fun part first and decide who gets the crown tonight shall
42:02we between Laurence and Carason and Kato and Praje I am partial to Laurence and Carason's look there's a
42:13lightness of freshness and as an individual piece that's probably the dress you'd be most likely to
42:19wear to an event in New York exactly but Kato and Praje had an exuberance there's
42:26just those magical moments sometimes in fashion when it all comes together it's so rarely happens
42:32but it's such a joy to witness and for me Kato and Praje tonight have that now for the hard part we have
42:39to decide the losing team and beyond that we have to decide who's going home who wants to start oh god
42:45not it not it what's really challenging about picking who's going home is that Victor and Kane
42:54and Anna and Brittany had two very different problems I was frankly bored by what Anna and
43:02Brittany sent down the runway but on the other hand I was overwhelmed by what Victor and Kane put down the
43:08runway one of them was giving us full-time Vegas and the other one it's just basic and cliche if Anna
43:19and Brittany are our least favorite team who goes home who did the mesh arms that's who needs to go
43:24home Brittany did the upper half which was the arms Anna did that skirt the over skirt is the culprit
43:31because the weight of that took an ephemeral light dress and stretched it down yes but if Victor and Kane
43:38were our least favorite team who would go home Victor told us he made the corset and if that's what's the
43:46problem then Victor should go but what we don't like about this look is how costumey it is and Kane is a
43:53costumer so I think we know who is going home let's get the designers out here okay designers we have two
44:07favorite looks of the night Cato and Praje and Laurence and Carason your two teams delivered exactly what we
44:18were looking for the winning team is Cato and project but only one designer could be crowned the
44:34overall winner tonight Cato congratulations thank you I feel seen your look together had an
44:51authenticity that is so important to fashion it felt unique it felt true it was really beautiful
44:57thank you so much to get this win in a group challenge I think it's amazing and it definitely
45:02shows watch out for her she has something to say Laurence Carason Praje you are all in thank you
45:09thank you Hester and Fabio Bhishmi and Rami we also loved your looks and you are all in thank you you
45:20may leave the runway
45:20Brittany and Anna Victor and Kane unfortunately someone from the
45:32losing team will be up Brittany and Anna your look felt like you played it safe Victor and Kane your look
45:46needed editing it was more costume than fashion this was an extremely difficult decision for all of us
45:56Victor Victor you're out I'm so sorry Brittany Anna and Kane you are in
46:12thank you Victor Victor what we saw of you was fantastic and I know that you have that talent in
46:22you I'm just happy to be here in front of Nina because I admire you so much thank you you're my queen you're a goddess I am
46:31really sad to see you go and I'm very proud of you thank you guys so much I really it really means a lot you can all leave the runway thank you thank you we have to remember there's no immunity this season so one design can be your best and then the next design can be not well received oh my god everyone wait they're all
46:53all safe you're safe I'm going home what yeah I'm very sad I wanted to make it to the end I wanted you guys to see a lot more of me it's gonna be a few months of hard doubting myself what did I do wrong but it's part of growth
47:08you know you're incredible I know incredible feel good because it was still fabulous thank you Christian for
47:15everything and you're I admire you or so thank you hi I'm grateful for everything but I'm also going to miss being on the runway in the rush
47:27next on project runway all-stars what is happening each of you must create a runway look from this single bolt of fabric
47:42I'm starting to feel fear this challenge was about standing out and yours stood out they do realize
47:55they've seen this dress since this competition started right done get some bull out of here
