00:01Eggman starts using a device to make his dreams come true.
00:07That'd be overpowered if it worked.
00:09Eggman wanted the power of the Dreamweaver to be neutralized,
00:13but it gets knocked out instead.
00:15And eventually the heroes go up to him.
00:18Come to think of it, why is Knuckles here instead of guarding his emeralds
00:21when there's so many of them here that they clearly don't need his help?
00:25I think it's that he's so confident and underestimates his friends,
00:29as Lost World and Frontiers implied.
00:32And he knows Eggman's here,
00:33and he's the only person he knows who would have the drive and ability to take the Master Emerald.
00:39And guarding the Emerald is boring.
00:41They're only here because of Rouge's intel.
00:44Even though really you'd expect Tails to be gathering intel on Eggman,
00:47since he's the knowledge and technology character,
00:50while Rouge is about looking for treasure.
00:52And it hasn't been mentioned that she works for Gunn in a very long time.
00:57If it's just that she can get intel because she can fly,
01:01why can't Tails have done that?
01:03Sonic thanks Rouge,
01:04and I like that she mentions that she needed a reward for helping him,
01:08because it makes her unique from them remembering that she's more of a neutral character.
01:12Tails finds out the machine can control dreams,
01:15and they end up being put to sleep for some reason.
01:18Even though they're not wearing the helmet that Eggman is.
01:21Sonic's talked to him motely at first by the Guardian of the Dream World, Aryan.
01:26Why didn't she talk to him in person right away?
01:29And she tells him to get MacGuffins that allow her to make dreams
01:32so that she could get them from point A to point B
01:35to restore his friends from where they're trapped.
01:38This is just Sonic Generations and Sonic Shuffle smashed together.
01:42Why even bother with cutscenes if you're just going to have the same plot as before?
01:48It's nothing but giving me exposition so far.
01:51When Sonic finds Amy, the story's a waste of time with the talking being pointless
01:55because Amy's been given exposition we were already given to get her up to speed.
01:59They use a needless amount of dialogue to remind us that the heroes have to get past the barrier to free their friends.
02:07I love that Rouge asks what pure hearted even means.
02:11Aryan's mandated by her creators to only make a dream come true
02:15if it comes from a person she deems to be of noble intentions.
02:19I'm surprised someone who seems magical even had creators.
02:24So she's either an AI or was created by a fellow magical being.
02:28Noble intentions would apply to Sonic too.
02:31Why would Eggman think he has to use Cream and not some other random good person?
02:37I have to just assume it's because he thinks she's the weakest of the heroes because she's young
02:41and she's only a threat because she can throw chow at him and fly.
02:45Eggman used Cream as a filter to try to make his ambitions come true
02:50and Aryan says she wasn't decisive enough in repelling Eggman and only trapped him in his own dream.
02:57Cream says thanks and Aryan thanks the heroes for their hard work and Sonic shows respect for Tails
03:02who figured out Eggman can't use their of Eri's full power without Aryan
03:07so he's going to start threatening her eventually.
03:10She ends up telling the heroes that the dark flute in front of them is magical nightmare fuel
03:14that Eggman is using for his minions, which makes Eggman incompetent.
03:19Tails finds out Eggman's going to activate something dangerous to the heroes that they need to stop.
03:24Out of nowhere, Cream insists on going to stop it instead of expecting Sonic to.
03:29She's reminding me of IDW Cream where she insists on going to fight Xena.
03:33Everyone's worried but Sonic who's drama-savvy that she'll be fine and is growing up fast.
03:40Just because Sonic's the main character, he's the only one who's smart here and not a genius.
03:47Cream wanting to go straight into a dangerous adventure when she doesn't have to do so to save Vanilla or her pet
03:52just isn't in character for her, when basically her only character is being obedient and polite.
03:59So it's a good thing Sonic at least tried to explain away that she's growing up.
04:04Cream gets faced with a mecha, and because of her efforts, Knuckles and Rouge get free.
04:09Aryan calls Knuckles handsome, surprisingly, and Rouge agrees but complains that he's got no class or talent.
04:15I thought he had class when he apologized for hurting her.
04:20Apparently she convinced herself that he doesn't have class anymore.
04:23Yeah, he's such a brute, that's why he said I'm sorry if I hurt you.
04:27She'd only say this to mean that he hasn't shown any class in front of her ever since that moment.
04:33But that's not really fair because she barely spends any time with him.
04:37It looks like she just forgot about the whole reason she got a crush on him in the first place.
04:42This would only make sense if she was only trying to guilt him to make him show class again.
04:49Eventually, Aryan explains that she needs to be able to trigger something to get rid of Eggman's influence on this world,
04:54even out of personal sacrifice to herself.
04:57Her creators must have made it that way as a punishment to her.
05:00Her creators are dicks.
05:03Aryan has to get saved by Rouge from a monster all of a sudden.
05:07Surprisingly, it turns out Aryan got attacked and it drained her,
05:11so Cream hopes she'll get fixed.
05:14I never saw her get hurt.
05:16The story gets boring as the talking becomes worthless
05:19after Aryan starts standing up again with one of the heroes helping her.
05:23Aryan turns into a bull to be held for some reason,
05:26probably because she's so weak she has to.
05:30The dialogue becomes a waste of time after this.
05:33Sonic ends up taunted by Eggman who thinks he's going to take over the world.
05:36The heroes start passing Aryan back and forth from each other.
05:41I'm really pissed off at seeing Cream just stand still looking scared of measly Eggpods.
05:48And her and Cheese just hugging each other so that Knuckles can get a chance to knock them over offscreen.
05:53When they fought billions of these robots in Sonic Heroes.
05:59This is so disrespectful just because of her age.
06:04It was cool to see Amy throw Aryan and jump and hit her away with her hammer.
06:08Sonic asks Pails if he's okay, calling him buddy.
06:11Eggman threatens the heroes as a giant.
06:14I do like that it's using him in an intimidating way.
06:17But the use of the color purple for him is offsetting it.
06:21Sonic makes sure Aryan would be able to do her duty.
06:24She thanks them and ends up ruining Eggman's plan.
06:27Sonic says nice work and the heroes wake up.
06:30I get to see Cream hug Amy and she thanks the heroes for saving her.
06:34It would have made Eggman look competent and menacing if we got to see him kidnap Cream.
06:39I like that Cream's sad that the heroes didn't get to say goodbye to Aryan.
06:43Out of nowhere, Tails says he modified the protocols so they would be able to talk to Aryan again and explore the reverie.
06:51They just won't be able to make dreams real.
06:54There was no hint he was working on this.
06:57But he's supposed to be humble so naturally he wouldn't tell people he was apparently finding the time to work on this until now.
07:03And not having a hard time remembering the stuff he needs to program with all the people talking.
07:08He would have had time to do this when Cream was fighting that mecha though.
07:13I like that Cream said Cheese get him and Eggman was put back to sleep.
07:17It was nice to see Knuckles let Cream right on his shoulders and Sonic even high fives Cheese.
07:23I guess the only reason Eggman said take the relic is that he knows he's outnumbered by powerful magical enemies of his.
07:30So there'd be no point in trying to keep them from getting Aryan back.
07:33The story ends with Aryan calling Tails clever and saying hi to Cream.
07:39Most of this story was just dry exposition.
07:41But thankfully there were only a few points in it where the dialogue was nothing but a waste of time causing me to have the chance to get bored.
07:48And the story was respectful to Tails the whole time.
07:51Impressing me by making it so that Aryan doesn't have to sleep for a thousand years for saving them.
07:56Which is fine because you didn't do anything to deserve that and it was arbitrary anyways.
08:00At least Eggman powering himself up was cool.
08:04Since he's a human who's always just using machines to fight I'd never expect him to get to power himself up directly with magic.
08:11And it feels right that the main villain of the series gets to do this.
08:15And him being powered up keeps me from being bored that he's the final boss.
08:20But I didn't feel anything about this either.
08:22Because I already saw him power himself up in Sonic the Comic.
08:26And then one of the movies did it again.
08:28And this story doesn't clearly explain any of the powers he has.
08:33It doesn't say that he's omnipotent which would be more impressive.
08:37Though it avoids the problem of wondering why he doesn't instantly win or something.
08:42I would have found it more threatening if it explained what exact powers he had because of this.
08:47Instead of it just looking like he's giant and can float things.
08:51Well the last times he powered himself up he was a lot more powerful.
08:56Combine that with the fact that Aerium is just a ripoff of Illumina.
08:59And Eggman's machine at the start is the only thing new about the story.
09:03The only time it got to impress me with its creativity so that I really felt like I was seeing a new story.
09:08Usually I don't feel anything about the story one way or the other.
09:12By the standards of bad Sonic stories it's good and I don't hate it.
09:16But let's be real here.
09:18A Sonic story isn't supposed to be almost nothing but exposition with nothing happening.
09:23The premise is insultingly unoriginal and it's mostly just an exposition where I'm grateful just to hear a character say thank you or compliment someone instead.
09:30And you could put those words in any of the characters' mouths and it'd still be in character.
09:36But it's still a step in the right direction compared to the previous game's stories.
09:40The only time I had an outright emotional reaction to the story was when it lingered on Cream and Cheese just staying still scared of a bunch of weak robots after Sonic Heroes.
09:51But that was the most disrespectful treatment of Cream and Cheese that's ever been in the games.
09:56Who wrote this?
09:58Dan Rossetti and Ian Flynn.
10:00You'd never think Cream being playable in the advanced games was canon with this.
10:06Because for someone who supposedly knows the characters, he sure doesn't know these ones.
