00:00All right, we're continuing in 1 Corinthians. We're in 1 Corinthians 13. 1 Corinthians 13.
00:16Verse 1. Yeah, it is a little more.
00:19The Bible says,
00:25Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal.
00:35So, what Paul's trying to say here, because this verse is being misconstrued many times,
00:42he's talking about he speaks with the language of men and of angels.
00:46So, people will take this sometimes and twist it into that there's an angelic language that Paul's speaking.
00:55Well, first of all, keep your finger there and go to Genesis 11.
01:02Genesis chapter 11.
01:08I would say the angelic language or the language of angels, the word angel just means a messenger.
01:15Jesus sometimes is known as an angel, as a messenger.
01:22There's other people that are known as angels.
01:26If you look in Revelation, you'll see that each one of the seven churches has an angel,
01:32which is the pastor, which is the messenger.
01:35If you look at Genesis 11, we'll see where the Tower of Babel, everybody spoke the same language.
01:41Look at verse 1.
01:43And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
01:48And it came to pass as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar,
01:53and they dwelt there.
01:55And they said one to another,
01:56Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly.
02:00And they had some brick, four stone, and slime had they from mortar.
02:05And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven.
02:13And let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
02:19So this is a good example of one of the first examples in the Bible where somebody's trying to work their self to heaven.
02:26They're trying to build their own tower to heaven.
02:29And it just doesn't work.
02:31How does God respond?
02:32Look at verse 5.
02:33And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
02:38And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language.
02:43And this they began to do.
02:46And now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
02:51So this is a good example that God doesn't want us to be unified with other religions, other places.
03:00Now, He wants our church to be unified.
03:02We want us to be unified in His Word.
03:05But this is a good example because when they started to get together of one language, what do they do?
03:10They're trying to work their self into heaven.
03:13And God confounds them, as you see.
03:15Go to, let us, there's your good example of the Trinity, God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, us.
03:25That's what that means.
03:26Go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
03:34So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of the earth, and they left off to build the city.
03:39Therefore is the name of it called Babel, because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth.
03:46And from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
03:51So the word Babel, when somebody's babbling, you can't understand them.
03:54Of course, it's spelled differently in the English language.
03:57That's where this word comes from.
03:58A lot of words are originated from the Bible.
04:01So I wanted to show you that so you understand that God created every language.
04:06So if you go back to 1 Corinthians 13, I think what the Bible's trying to show us here is that the tongue or language of men is what he would be speaking.
04:19But the tongue of angels or language, make sure you understand any time it says tongue, it's talking about language, of angels would be what?
04:27Just the message.
04:29The message from the messenger.
04:31Clearly, Paul was there giving people the gospel, getting them saved.
04:36Well, wouldn't you say there's no more of a language of angels than that?
04:41Keep your finger there and go to 1 Corinthians 14, verse 22.
04:45So I just want to show you this thing.
04:50Because we live where people talk about speaking with tongue, in tongues, which is not in the King James Bible, with tongue.
04:58And I want to show you what the Bible says about that.
05:02Look at verse 22.
05:04Wherefore, tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe.
05:10Make sure you understand that.
05:12But to them that believe not.
05:15But prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
05:22So the Bible is clear to tell us that speaking with tongue, with a new language, is what we're talking about, is not for the people that believe.
05:33But where do you see this at?
05:34You see it in a church setting.
05:36You see at the day of Pentecost, that was not at a church setting.
05:41These people were just hanging out in Jerusalem.
05:44And they mysteriously speak this language and get people saved.
05:49Okay?
05:50So I want you to see that.
05:51Because any time you see where these churches are speaking in tongues or whatever, they're doing it in a church setting, which is what?
06:00Supposed to be people that believe.
06:02But then the Bible goes on to say that prophesying, what I'm doing here, preaching, is not for the people that don't believe.
06:10So God clearly tells us, and we see other scriptures in the Bible, that you can't show people the reprobate doctrine that are unsaved.
06:19They're not going to get it, folks.
06:21You can't show them verses about adultery and stuff.
06:24Because without the Holy Spirit, they will never get it.
06:28You're wasting your time.
06:29You can't show them the prophecy of revelation or something.
06:32They're not going to get it.
06:33They have to be saved.
06:35So I want you to understand that.
06:36And we'll talk more about that next week.
06:38But this tongue of angels, even I looked it up just on Google, and just even the AI lady or whoever, I don't know who it was, said that this has nothing to do, and it's misconstrued a lot of times with saying that there spoke some kind of language of angels.
06:56And it was saying, the AI actually said the same thing, that it's misconstrued, and it's just talking about messenger as being a messenger.
07:08Go to verse 2.
07:09And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all faith, that I could remove mountains and have not charity, I'm nothing.
07:22He's saying, even though I've got all these gifts, I've got the gift of prophecy, which is preaching.
07:27He said, I understand all mysteries, because you've got to understand, until Jesus Christ came into the picture, nobody understood why they were doing sacrifices in the Old Testament.
07:36So the mystery was revealed.
07:38He understands those.
07:39It doesn't mean that he knows everything.
07:41He has all knowledge, and though he has faith, that it can move mountains.
07:45Keep your finger there, and go to Matthew 7.
07:50I'm sorry, 17.
07:52Well, go to Matthew 7 first, because I'm going to show you something in the concordance, not really the concordance, but in the margin of my Bible.
08:03This is why you should never do this.
08:05For this verse here, it tells me to go to Matthew 7, which I know what Matthew 7 is.
08:12And all it is, it's talking about that Paul has the gift of prophecy.
08:18That's why I tell you not to use a study Bible, or concordance, or anything else like that, because a person that is doing the study Bible may not be saved.
08:29And if you're listening to them, and let me just tell you, you'll be tempted to look at it, you're not doing yourself any good.
08:36The way you should study the Bible and read it, is when you sit down, just you and the Holy Spirit, and He shows you what the Word says.
08:44If you have Matthew, or some other person, Ryrie, or whatever, in your ear, you're not going to listen to what the Holy Spirit says.
08:53I'm just telling you.
08:54So look at Matthew 7.
08:58Look at verse 21.
08:59They're saying verse 22.
09:01But go up to verse 21, because it explains the verse.
09:06This is not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven.
09:15Many will say to me, in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied?
09:19So just because the word prophesied is in here in the Bible, the people who did the concordance decides that this is a good verse to use.
09:28In thy name.
09:29And in thy name hath cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works.
09:35And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
09:41Now, people use this verse all the time to say, hey, say you can lose your salvation, because read this verse.
09:48I want you to read it carefully.
09:50Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father.
09:58And people say, see, you've got to do the will of the Father.
10:01You've got to do the Father's will.
10:03Well, what is that?
10:04Keep your finger in there and go to John 6.
10:08All we're doing is comparing Scripture with Scripture.
10:10So I can't tell you how many times people use this verse and say, see, you can lose your salvation,
10:15because Jesus says, I never knew you, depart from me.
10:19That's not what it's saying.
10:23Look, I can cherry pick any verse.
10:25I can go to James 2, and I can pick out the verse where it says, faith without works is dead.
10:31And you'll say, and that's what the Catholics, they bank on that.
10:34See, faith without works is dead.
10:36Yeah, but not non-existent.
10:39Faith without works is dead.
10:40If you go there and tell somebody, hey, man, God bless you, and they're freezing to death, you ain't doing them no good.
10:46If they're starving to death, and you say, hey, God bless you, man, good to see you.
10:50You're not doing them any good.
10:51But that's for another sermon another time.
10:53Look at the Bible, verse 38 in John 6.
10:57For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
11:04And this is the Father's will, which hath sent me, that all which he hath given me,
11:12I should lose nothing, but should raise it up against the last day.
11:16Look at verse 40.
11:17The Bible is very clear.
11:18And this is the will of him that sent me.
11:20Talking about, this is Jesus speaking about God the Father.
11:23That everyone, everyone that seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life,
11:33and I will raise him up at the last day.
11:36This is also known as predestination.
11:39It's like your phone.
11:40You may put in a destination and say, hey, I want to go to Walmart.
11:44And it tells you how to get there.
11:45Well, predestination is that God said before he created anything in Genesis 1-1,
11:51if you believe on my son Jesus and believe in his works and his righteousness,
11:56you will die and go to heaven.
11:59That's it.
11:59That's predestination.
12:01And that's what this is saying.
12:02Go back to Matthew 7.
12:04So what the Bible is really saying here is that anybody,
12:08that not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord.
12:12Now, doesn't that make sense that there's unsaved people
12:15that are going to stand at the great white throne judgment in Revelation 20,
12:19and they're going to say, Lord, Lord, we did all these wonderful works in your name.
12:23And you know what Jesus is going to say?
12:25I don't know who you are.
12:26Why?
12:27Because works does not save you.
12:29It's the faith of Jesus Christ.
12:31It's faith in Jesus Christ.
12:33Trusting in what he does.
12:35So the will of the Father is that we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
12:39And once you do that will, then you are saved.
12:43And then look at the next verse.
12:45Many will say to me in that day, there's going to be preachers,
12:47there's going to be people that pull demons out of people,
12:50saying, hey, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
12:56Have we not cast out many devils?
12:58Let me add something else to you.
12:59Have we not baptized in your name?
13:02Have we not went to Sunday school in your name?
13:04Gone to church in your name?
13:06Did this in your name?
13:06Whatever you want to put, whatever works you want to put in there,
13:10you can put it in there.
13:11And that's the key.
13:12And name done many wonderful works.
13:15And look at verse 23.
13:16And then will I profess, it's Jesus, unto them, I never knew you.
13:22Why does he not know them?
13:23Because they're not saved.
13:25If he knows you, he knows you.
13:28And John, I believe it's John 10 where he's saying he's the shepherd.
13:33He says he knows his sheep.
13:34A lot of people say, I know the Lord.
13:36Who cares?
13:38Does the Lord know you?
13:39And how does that happen?
13:40By putting your trust in him.
13:43So many people are going to say, I know the Lord.
13:45I'll give you an example.
13:48Years ago, I've used this example before.
13:52I knew a guy, he was telling a story.
13:56He's a sheriff of Lowndes County.
13:58And when he first became sheriff, he would ride around early in the morning.
14:02And he would ride around and he would, he stopped some people for speeding.
14:05Which, you know, a sheriff in Lowndes County, they normally don't do that.
14:08That's just not something.
14:08But he did, he was a new sheriff.
14:10And the guy that he stopped, he didn't see him.
14:14Or maybe he saw him.
14:15Maybe he saw who he was.
14:16He said, hey man, I'm just letting you know I know the sheriff.
14:19He looks at his driver's line and says, I don't know you.
14:21Who are you?
14:22I don't know you.
14:23So, you know, a lot of people, and that's what they're going to say.
14:25Jesus, I know you.
14:27And Jesus is going to say, I don't know.
14:29That didn't mind you about the first Corinthians.
14:31I'm sorry, go to Matthew 17 because this is the verse we want to see.
14:35Again, I don't know why my Bible says that.
14:38That's why I try not to look at it.
14:39I do look at it sometimes, but this is just a blatant goofball verse that somebody just picked out prophecy.
14:48And, I mean, there's plenty of other verses.
14:51But Paul's saying that he has enough faith to move mountains.
14:54And that's what Jesus said.
14:55Look at Matthew 17, verse 14.
14:59Again, we're just comparing Scripture with Scripture.
15:02When anything's quoted from the Old Testament or Jesus quotes, or somebody quotes something from Jesus,
15:08we should always look at it and review it.
15:09Look at Matthew 17, verse 14.
15:12And when they were come to the multitude, they came to him, a certain man, kneeling down to him, saying,
15:18Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic.
15:21And sore vexed, for oft times he falleth into the fire and oft into the water.
15:27So I want you to see this, that there's a lot of times where people would throw themselves in the fire or throw themselves in the water.
15:35These people were possessed by demons a lot of times.
15:39This is what this situation is.
15:40And I brought him to my disciples, and they could not cure him.
15:45And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you?
15:51How long shall I suffer you?
15:54Bring him hither to me.
15:56And Jesus rebuked the devil and departed out of him.
15:59And the child was cured from that very hour.
16:02Then came the disciples to Jesus apart and said, Why could not we cast him out?
16:07And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief.
16:11So the Bible is showing us here that if they had believed that they could bring the demon out,
16:16that they could have done it.
16:18But they didn't believe it.
16:20For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed,
16:24you shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place,
16:30and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you,
16:34howbeit this kind goes not out, but by prayer and fasting.
16:38So a lot of people, when you say, Well, you know, how much faith do I need to have in Jesus Christ to be saved?
16:44Well, here's a grain of mustard seed.
16:46You need to have enough to put 100% in only Jesus,
16:49not Jesus and yourself, or Jesus and your mama, Jesus and the preacher,
16:55just Jesus and what he did alone.
16:59So what Paul's trying to say is he has prophecy, all knowledge, he understands all mystery,
17:04he has faith enough to do things.
17:06And if you read the book of Acts, what Paul does, he does have a lot of faith.
17:09He gets put in prison, he gets shipwrecked, he gets bit by a snake.
17:13All these things happen in the book of Acts.
17:15And this is an example of what he did.
17:17Go about to 1 Corinthians 13.
17:19And though I bestow my goods to feed the poor,
17:26and though I give my body to be burned,
17:29and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
17:32So again, he's going through a list of things that he does.
17:35He gives his earnings to the poor.
17:39He does a lot of things.
17:40I don't understand this about his body being burned.
17:42Maybe he's just prepared for that in case somebody does that.
17:45But what he's saying is, he says, if he does not have charity, what is charity?
17:52Well, charity just means love.
17:54But it's just a little bit more than love.
17:57It's like when somebody has charity, and they go and they give money, or they give something to somebody.
18:02You know, all these politicians, they want to do charity supposedly, but they're ready for the camera and for them to know, for you to know how much they give.
18:11That's not charity, folks.
18:13Charity is love without expectation of return.
18:18Without an expectation of return.
18:21Giving something to someone in love without something in return.
18:24You're not expecting anything in return.
18:27You know, you give somebody money, you try to help them out with the bills, or give them something, whatever, and you don't expect to ever be paid.
18:35You know, if it gets paid, fine.
18:36If it doesn't, that's fine too.
18:37That's what charity is.
18:39And Paul's trying to say, he can have all these gifts, he can do all these things, but if he doesn't have that charity, it's useless.
18:46We need to understand that too.
18:49If we don't have that charity for our fellow man, and especially the lost, and our brothers and sisters in Christ, then it's useless.
18:57And then he goes into, charity suffereth long, and is kind.
19:03Charity envieth not, it vaunteth not itself.
19:07It's not puffed up.
19:08What is puffed up?
19:09Puffed up is just pride.
19:10You know, I told you before, I think about these cartoons where people take their thumb and blow themselves up.
19:16That's what puffed up is.
19:18You're trying to make yourself larger than you really are for people to see you.
19:22And that's what he's saying is that charity doesn't do any of that thing.
19:26So if you think it's charity, like these politicians, you know, they're ready to smile for the camera with a check in their hand or whatever.
19:32That's not charity.
19:34Because it's puffing them up.
19:37It rejoices not in, I'm sorry, verse 5.
19:40Doth not behave itself unseemly.
19:43What is unseemly?
19:44Just, somebody doesn't want to see it.
19:46It's bad.
19:47Seeketh not her own.
19:49Is not easily provoked.
19:51Thinketh no evil.
19:52So anything that's evil, and they, you know, people think of some kind of charity that may be for a bad thing.
20:00You know, like if somebody's giving money for abortions or something, that's evil.
20:04You know, that's murder.
20:05So that's not good charity.
20:07People may call it charity, whatever, they may get a break on their taxes.
20:11But that's not charity according to the Bible.
20:14So anything that somebody's giving for evilness is not charity.
20:21Rejoices not iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.
20:24So charity is anything that's truthful.
20:28So anything that we see that is of truth, which we know that Jesus is truth, then that's what charity is.
20:39Verse 9.
20:41For, I'm sorry, charity never faileth.
20:43But whether there be prophecies, they shall fail.
20:48Whether there be tongues, they shall cease.
20:51Whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
20:55For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
20:58But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
21:04So what does all that mean?
21:05You know, you've got to understand that Paul is a difficult person to understand.
21:09In fact, Peter said it himself.
21:10We understand that it's the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
21:13But Paul is a very, very educated man.
21:16So let's break this down.
21:18What he's saying is, is that when you preach or prophesy, that's the same word, that we're doing it in part.
21:25So, if I go to Revelation 6 and I show you what the Bible says, that's in part.
21:34Not that it's taking anything away that it's not the truth of something that's going to happen in the future.
21:40But, it's not complete or perfect.
21:44That's what perfect means.
21:45It doesn't mean sinless.
21:47It means complete.
21:48When it's complete is when it's fulfilled.
21:50So, you go to the Old Testament and find plenty of scriptures like in Isaiah 53, Psalm 22.
21:58Some of these Old Testament scriptures that prophesy about Jesus coming as the Savior.
22:04And you know that once those are done, it's complete.
22:07It's perfect.
22:09Well, that's what he's saying is that when we prophesy,
22:12and you've got to understand at the time, they don't have the whole New Testament.
22:16So, what he's saying is, is that it's complete and perfect when it becomes complete.
22:28And that he's just prophesying in part.
22:30But, charity is never in part.
22:32He's trying to compare prophesying and having charity as two different things.
22:38He's trying to tell you that, you know, even though you're prophesying and you're doing it partially,
22:42because we don't have all the facts, he's saying, charity never fails.
22:48It's still the same.
22:50Verse 11.
22:51When I was a child, I spake as a child.
22:54I understood as a child.
22:55I thought as a child.
22:57But, when I became a man, I put away childish things.
23:00So, the Bible is clear to tell us that Paul is trying to explain to us,
23:05and the Corinthians, that when he was a child, he spake as a child, and he understood as a child.
23:12But then, later on, he did not.
23:15What we need to understand is that, even as Christians, we are, the Bible talks about babes in Christ.
23:22That a newborn person that's born again, it could be a baby in Christ.
23:27And, as they learn, this is what you're sitting here today, hopefully, for,
23:31is that you're learning so you can be more, not a child anymore.
23:38And, I thought about this verse, what Paul's saying.
23:41You know, when your children grow up, eventually, they should get to the point where they're not getting into trouble as much.
23:49Now, you know, as a small child, they're probably getting spankings, or they should be,
23:53for things that they're doing wrong.
23:55But, eventually, as they get older and become teenagers and young adults,
23:59they should be getting less in trouble for those things.
24:02And, that's what Paul's trying to say.
24:04And, not only that, but, sometimes, it's hard for parents to separate and kind of let their child go.
24:14What I mean by that is, we've got to understand that, as Christian parents, we have raised our children,
24:20and, if we try to protect them or whatever, sometimes, you've got to let them fall for them to grow up.
24:29And, that's a hard thing as a parent, because you want to be there.
24:33You want to be able to get them out of everything and do out of everything, and we've tried to do that.
24:38But, eventually, you're not doing them any good.
24:40You're keeping them locked in as a child, and they're not growing up.
24:45They're not becoming an adult.
24:48And, you're not doing them any good.
24:50And, then, eventually, when you're doing that, guess what?
24:54God's going to step in.
24:56And, that happens all the time.
24:58I've seen it plenty of times.
24:59A person gets arrested for something.
25:02Mom and daddy go bail them out.
25:03Gets arrested again.
25:04Mom and daddy bail them out.
25:05Gets arrested again.
25:06Mom and daddy bail them out.
25:07And, then, eventually, they just, they can't get them out of nothing else.
25:11They're going to have to spend some big time in prison or something.
25:15And, we need to understand that, as growing up, there's a process.
25:22I was just talking about this the other day.
25:24You know, when you're a teenager, you probably think your parents are the stupidest people out there.
25:29I did.
25:30And, then, as you grow up, there's a point in time where you realize that what they're saying
25:36ain't exactly dumb.
25:39And, you're thinking, man, these people are smart.
25:40And, then, you start to listen to them.
25:43Especially, when one person tells you something, your parents do, and you turn off.
25:48I don't want to hear that.
25:49But, then, somebody else tells you, another adult tells you the same thing.
25:52Hey, this is what you need to do.
25:53You're doing this wrong.
25:54And, then, maybe your preacher or teacher or whatever tells you the same thing.
25:58Then, you start thinking in your mind, hey, maybe my parents are right.
26:02Maybe what they're telling me is right.
26:03And, grandparents or whatever.
26:04So, we need to understand that there is a process of us not doing childish things anymore.
26:11And, that's part of being growing up.
26:14Verse 12.
26:15But, now, we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face, now I know in part, but then shall I know, even as also I am known.
26:29And, now, abideth faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity.
26:34Keep your finger there and go to, first, go to Romans 8.
26:40Romans 8.
26:41So, what Paul's trying to say here is that we don't, we're looking through a glass darkly.
26:52So, you know, glass back then was very, it wasn't very, where you could see through it.
26:59It wasn't very clear.
27:00It was, you know, if you've seen old movies, cowboy movies or something, you've seen glass and it's just kind of got a glaze to it where you can't see through.
27:09What he's saying is that we're looking through a glass darkly because we don't have everything in front of us.
27:16Now, we got what God wants us to have, the 66 books.
27:19But we're still looking through a glass darkly.
27:22But then face to face, we'll know everything.
27:26So, what it's saying is that there's still, don't let anybody tell you, hey, I know everything about the Bible because that's wrong.
27:32There's still mysteries out there that we don't understand.
27:36You know, we can read what the Bible says and have faith of what Revelation says, but we don't know these things.
27:45Not only that, Romans 8.
27:49I'll get there myself.
27:56Romans chapter 8.
28:00Acts and Romans 1.
28:05So, Romans chapter 8, verse 24.
28:08For we are saved by hope.
28:10So, verse 13 talks about faith, hope, and charity.
28:14So, this doesn't mean that we're saved by hope.
28:18I hope I go to heaven when I die.
28:20That's not what that means, folks.
28:22Don't let people twist this.
28:23But hope that is not as seen is not hope.
28:27So, we know that what the Bible says, that if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and His righteousness, period, that we would go to heaven.
28:35But nobody has any proof other than the Bible.
28:38Nobody can come back from heaven and say, yeah, man, you know, I went there.
28:42I believe on the Lord as a young boy.
28:44And I went to heaven and I'm back here to tell you.
28:47That's what I'm talking about.
28:48Is that hope is not seen.
28:51Just like faith is things that's not seen.
28:54We know from the Bible.
28:56That's where the Bible comes in at is faith in the Bible.
29:00Believing that.
29:01But, you know, I remember when, if you remember when Jesus, Thomas feels the hands of Jesus and he says, oh, my Lord, my God, thank you.
29:10Or, he's telling him all these things.
29:13What does Jesus say?
29:14He says, more blessed are the ones who believe and have not seen.
29:18That's you.
29:20Believed and not seen.
29:21Because Thomas and all the disciples, they saw Jesus.
29:24But we have not.
29:27And that's what it's saying.
29:28So, hope is not seen.
29:29For what a man seeth, what did the Yeti hope for?
29:34Just like anything, hope is a word that's kind of twisted sometimes in our life.
29:39Because we think, oh, man, I hope this happens.
29:41I hope that happens.
29:42But what it's really saying is, for instance, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get a paycheck on Friday.
29:50But I'm hoping.
29:51You know, something may happen.
29:53It may not come through or something happened at the bank or whatever.
29:57That's what hope is.
29:58You know that it's going to happen.
30:00You have faith that it's going to happen.
30:02But you don't know for sure because there's no evidence of it.
30:05But if we hope for that, we see not.
30:09Then do we, with patience, wait for it.
30:13Likewise.
30:13So, what he's saying is, is that if there's things that we're waiting for.
30:18Just like I'll have patience to see if my check comes in on Friday.
30:21That's what it's talking about.
30:22Patience.
30:24If you get things all the time.
30:27You know, and parents shouldn't do that.
30:28Hey, I'm going to give you that.
30:29Hey, Mama, Daddy, I want this.
30:30Here you go.
30:31Hey, Mama, Daddy, I want this.
30:32You should teach your kids some patience.
30:35And waiting for stuff.
30:36That's what it says.
30:38Go to Galatians 5.
30:39Galatians 5.
30:44Galatians 5.
30:45This is the last place we'll go to.
30:46Galatians 5.
30:50Galatians 5.
30:52Galatians 5.
30:52Galatians 5.
31:04Galatians 5.
31:04Galatians 5.
31:06Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free.
31:11And be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
31:15Behold, I, Paul, say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
31:20For I testify again to every man that is circumcised that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
31:26So what the Bible is teaching us here is that you can input whatever you want to.
31:32Circumcision, baptism, being a member of the church, going to Sunday school, whatever it is, being baptized, eating crackers and drinking the juice.
31:42Whatever you want to put in there.
31:44What he's saying is if you think that you have to do that, you're a debtor to do the whole law.
31:50It means that you're going to have to go to hell for all your sins.
31:54That's what it means.
31:56Or you're just going to have to be a perfect person.
31:58Which ain't going to happen.
32:00Christ has become of no effect unto you.
32:04Whosoever of you are justified by the law, you're fallen from grace.
32:09Now people like to again use this verse and say, fallen from grace means that you're saved and you lose your salvation.
32:14That's not what it means.
32:17God shed his grace on all of us.
32:20Grace is what?
32:20Grace is something you get that you don't deserve.
32:23Nobody deserves heaven.
32:24If they believe they do, they're probably going to hell because they think there's something great about them.
32:29Grace is something you get that you don't deserve.
32:31And what the Bible is teaching us here is that God shed his grace on us with Jesus Christ on the cross.
32:40But if you think you've got to repent of your sins or be a good person, be justified by the law.
32:48The word justified means just as if I'd never sinned by the law.
32:53And you're trying to keep the Ten Commandments and do all this and do that.
32:56Then guess what?
32:58Jesus Christ dying on the cross, no effect to you.
33:01There's no effect.
33:03It has nothing, no effect in your salvation because that has nothing to do with it.
33:08For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
33:14For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.
33:23Which is the same thing as charity.
33:26So the last verse talks about faith, hope, and charity.
33:30Faith is believing, you know, the Bible says that it's impossible for God to be pleased with you without faith.
33:39Some people say, hey, I'm trying to do God's will and whatever and it has nothing to do with faith.
33:44You're wasting your time.
33:46Hope is something that you can't see that you're wishing for, I guess you could say.
33:50And charity is love without any expectation.
33:55Let's bow our head and have a little prayer.
