00:00All right, we're in 1 Corinthians chapter 10.
00:05If you're turning in your Bible to 1 Corinthians 10.
00:171 Corinthians 10 verse 1.
00:19Moreover, brethren, I would not that you should be ignorant
00:22how that all our fathers were under the cloud
00:26and all passed through the sea.
00:28And all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea
00:32and did all eat the same spiritual meat
00:36and did all drink the same spiritual drink.
00:40For they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them
00:44and that rock was Christ.
00:48So the thing I want you to see first of all
00:50is that the rock is in capital letters.
00:53It's talking about the Lord Jesus Christ.
00:55And it shows you, and I preached a sermon
00:58I don't know how long ago, it was about the clouds
01:00and that anytime you saw the Lord appearing in a cloud
01:05or appearing to Moses or Aaron or whatever in the temple,
01:11it was always in a cloud.
01:13And what is interesting about this is it tells us
01:16that followed them.
01:18So it says that they were in a cloud.
01:21The cloud followed them.
01:22If you remember when Moses was leaving Egypt,
01:25what happened?
01:27He had the cloud by day
01:28and then he had light by night,
01:31the moon or something by night.
01:34And that's what it's talking about.
01:36But what's interesting is that
01:37you basically is saying that Jesus was in that cloud the whole time.
01:41Kind of like watching over them.
01:45And what Paul's trying to show them
01:46by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit
01:48is that look,
01:50you may say you're saved,
01:51you may say you can do all these things,
01:54but don't think that just because you're saved
01:56you're not going to be punished for what you're doing.
01:59You've got to remember the church at Corinth,
02:01what did they have?
02:02They had different things.
02:03They were, if you remember,
02:06you had one guy,
02:07he was sleeping with his stepmother.
02:11You had other people that were worshipping idols
02:14that were eating things to idols.
02:18So he's trying to tell them,
02:19don't think just because you're saved
02:20that you can get away with these things.
02:23Now as I preach Sunday,
02:26as far as heaven or hell,
02:29once you're saved,
02:30you're always saved.
02:31There's nothing can take that away.
02:33Nothing can do that.
02:34Once you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
02:36it's settled.
02:37There's nothing that can take that away.
02:38But,
02:40so you cannot get away with sin.
02:43God's going to punish you.
02:45And that's what he's trying to tell them,
02:46is the same people,
02:48these people that God esteemed highly,
02:51they were doing the same thing you were.
02:54They were eating together,
02:55they were drinking together,
02:57living together,
02:59as one in the church,
03:02in a congregation,
03:03and even Christ was following them,
03:05but they still got punished.
03:07We're going to see the punishment in a minute.
03:10Verse 5,
03:10But with many of them,
03:12God was not well pleased,
03:14for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
03:17If you remember the whole reason
03:18they're in the wilderness,
03:19the Bible calls it a wilderness,
03:21we'll call it a desert,
03:22because that's what it is.
03:24For 40 years.
03:26Why?
03:27Well, because for every year
03:30that they disobeyed God,
03:32that's why every,
03:34I'm sorry,
03:34every day that they disobeyed God,
03:36they got a year for it.
03:38And that's why God was displeased with them,
03:40and he let them live in the wilderness,
03:43wandering around for 40 years.
03:45Now these things were our examples.
03:49To the intent,
03:50we should not lust after evil things,
03:53as they also lust.
03:54So the word lust,
03:56sometimes can be twisted around.
03:59It's just any desire that you have.
04:01It could be,

04:04the word lust usually means
04:05about a sexual desire,
04:06but it could be anything that you desire,
04:08anything evil,

04:11that's what he's saying.
04:12Is that the things in the Bible,

04:16that you can't just live like you want to.
04:18You know, people will tell you,
04:19oh, are you telling me
04:20that I can just live like I want to?
04:22Not as far as God's concerned.
04:24Now as far as heaven and hell,
04:26you can believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
04:28unless you can go out there
04:29and become a crack whore,
04:31and because you have believed
04:32on the Lord Jesus Christ,
04:34you will still go to heaven,
04:35okay,
04:36because nothing can separate you
04:37from the love of God.
04:39But,
04:40but,
04:41he'll probably take you off this earth early.
04:43He's not,
04:44he's not going to be made a fool.
04:45You can't just say,

04:46I'm going to live like I want to.
04:48That's where people get confused,
04:50because they'll say,

04:57Because it will make God a liar
04:58if he took salvation away.

05:02he's not going to allow you to do it.

05:05without some kind of punishment.

05:10to run into a tree.
05:11He may allow you
05:12to overdose on some kind of drug.
05:15He may allow you
05:15to get some kind of disease
05:17that bleep won't even kill.

05:25Neither be ye all idolaters

05:31The people sat down
05:32to eat and drink
05:33and rose up to play.

07:50let's have a feast

07:54And you're going
07:54to see what happens.
07:55And they rose up
07:55early on the morrow
07:56and offered burnt
07:59offerings
08:00and brought peace
08:01offerings
08:01and the people
08:02sat down to eat
08:03and to drink
08:04and rose up
08:04to play.
08:05That's what we just
08:05saw in 1 Corinthians 10.
08:07And the Lord
08:07said unto Moses,

08:09get thee down
08:10for thy people
08:11which thou brought us
08:12out of the land
08:13of Egypt
08:13have corrupted
08:14themselves.
08:15They have turned
08:16aside quickly
08:17out of the way
08:18which I commanded
08:20them.

08:21them a molten
08:22calf
08:23and have
08:24worshipped it
08:26and have sacrificed
08:27thereunto
08:28and said,
08:29these be our gods,
08:30O Israel,
08:31and have brought thee
08:32out of the land
08:33of Egypt.

08:33said unto Moses,
08:34I have seen
08:35this people
08:36and behold

09:31It's that physical
09:32sexual act

09:34and woman have
09:35before they are married.
