00:00The title of the sermon today is A Day for Fathers, A Day for Fathers.
00:07I've got 11 points about fathers, what God the Father does and also what a father is supposed to do
00:16and how God compares the two of him and what fathers are supposed to do.
00:23So the first thing is Jesus is the only way to the Father. Go to John 14.
00:27So to get access to the Father, the only way that you can do that is through Jesus, John 14.
00:38So these people that talk about praying to God and they're not saved, it's hitting the ceiling.
00:47The Jews, you know, I saw where there's a guy in Israel, he was a soldier and he's praying to God the Father
00:53and he was helping him out during some kind of conflict years ago.
00:56So not happening because Judaism is a religion and they reject Jesus Christ.
01:03So John 14, 6, this is how you first have access to the Father.
01:07If you don't have this, you will not have access to the Father. Make sure you understand that.
01:12Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
01:16No man cometh unto the Father but by me.
01:19The only way you have access is through Jesus Christ.
01:23No other way. You can't do it.
01:26If you had known me, you should have known my Father also.
01:30So when people say, well, they just know God the Father.
01:33They don't believe in Jesus.
01:34Wrong. It don't work that way. It is a package deal.
01:38You don't go to the Father except through Jesus.
01:41And from henceforth, you know him and have seen him.
01:47Philip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father. It suffices us.
01:51Jesus saith, have I been so long with you?
01:54And yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
01:57He that has seen me has seen the Father.
02:00And how sayest thou then?
02:03Show us the Father.
02:04Now, that doesn't mean that Jesus is the Father.
02:08Because that don't make any sense.
02:10Because the next verse says,
02:11Believest thou that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?
02:16The words that I speak of you, I speak not to myself, but the Father that dwelleth in me.
02:22He doeth the works.
02:25Believest me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?
02:29Or else believe me for the very work's sake.
02:31He's saying, look, the Father is in me.
02:35I am in my Father.
02:36Now, again, this does not mean that Jesus is the Father,
02:39but he's saying that we are the same.
02:42Not the same people, because that trinity wouldn't make any sense
02:45if you didn't have God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus.
02:50Go to 1 John 2.
02:53We'll see another wording of this same thing.
02:581 John 2.
03:01In 1 John 2, verse 22,
03:09Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ?
03:13Now, the word Christ means Messiah.
03:15So anybody that denies that Jesus is the Messiah,
03:19he is an antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son.
03:23So, just to let you in on something,
03:26the Judaism religion is an antichrist religion,
03:30because they deny that Jesus is the Christ.
03:35Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father.
03:38So, if you don't believe in the Son, you don't have the Father.
03:42But he that acknowledges the Son hath the Father also.
03:45So, if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, that he came in the flesh,
03:49he's God in the flesh, then you have the Father.
03:53The next point is, call no man Father.
03:56Go to Matthew 23.
03:57Call no man Father.
04:02So, the thing about it is,
04:04is most of us sitting here,
04:07our earthly Father has passed on.
04:10And once that happens,
04:12the only other person that you may call Father
04:14is God the Father.
04:16Call no man Father.
04:22Look at Matthew 23.
04:26Verse 8.
04:28Matthew 23, verse 8.
04:29Be not called Rabbi,
04:32for one is your master.
04:33So, the word Rabbi means master,
04:36even Christ.
04:38And ye are all brethren.
04:40And call no man your Father upon the earth.
04:44For one is your Father which is in heaven.
04:47Neither be called master,
04:49for one is your master,
04:51even Christ.
04:51So, there's three things we should never call another human being on this earth.
04:55Rabbi,
04:57Master,
04:58or Father.
05:00Isn't it interesting that the Judaizers,
05:03the Judaism religion,
05:05calls their priest or whatever,
05:07Rabbi.
05:09Catholics call their priest,
05:12Father,
05:12and I don't know,
05:15maybe some kind of Kung Fu expert calls them master.
05:19So,
05:19no time are we supposed to call
05:21any human being on this earth their father.
05:25Now,
05:26you know,
05:26most of the time we call our father,
05:28dad,
05:28or daddy,
05:29or whatever.
05:30There's nothing wrong with that,
05:31Papa,
05:31Papa.
05:32I don't think there's anything wrong with
05:34referring to him as,
05:36hey,
05:36that's my mother and my father standing there.
05:38but once that person's gone off of this earth,
05:42you should not call anybody father,
05:44no matter what it is.
05:46That's reserved for God the Father.
05:49The third point is,
05:51the father is the boss.
05:53Go to 1 Corinthians 15.
05:55God the Father is the boss.
06:00And just like,
06:01the man is supposed to be
06:03the father of the household,
06:05is supposed to be the boss.
06:06Taking responsibility for everything.
06:10The father is the boss.
06:12So,
06:13we do have a hierarchy.
06:14You know,
06:14Jesus is God.
06:17Holy Spirit is God.
06:19And God the Father is God.
06:21These three are one.
06:23But they all,
06:24even though they're one,
06:25as in called God,
06:27they all have their own responsibility to do.
06:30And there's a hierarchy.
06:32God the Father is the top one.
06:34Jesus is the next.
06:35And the Holy Spirit is down below him.
06:37So,
06:38look at that in 1 Corinthians 15,
06:40verse 20.
06:421 Corinthians 15.
06:44This is the resurrection chapter.
06:47But now,
06:47as Christ risen from the dead
06:48and become the first fruits of them that slept,
06:52for since by man came death,
06:54by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
06:57For as in Adam all die,
07:02even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
07:05So,
07:05that's a good,
07:06this is a good verse to show you
07:08the circle of life from the beginning.
07:11Adam,
07:11the first man on earth,
07:12who created,
07:13who sinned,
07:15and he brought sin in,
07:16and he brought death in,
07:18because the wages of sin is death.
07:20One man also brings us alive,
07:22and that's the Lord Jesus Christ.
07:24So,
07:25that's a good circle of life.
07:26And he's saying that he is the first fruits,
07:29the first person.
07:30But in every man his own order.
07:32So,
07:32this is the order.
07:33Christ,
07:33the first fruits.
07:35So,
07:35first Christ has,
07:36has to be resurrected.
07:38That's already happened.
07:39Been done.
07:41Afterward,
07:41that are Christ at his coming.
07:44So,
07:44on Jesus' second coming,
07:46when he's coming in the clouds,
07:47and we see him in 1 Thessalonians 4,
07:49then the dead in Christ will rise again,
07:52and put on a new body,
07:54and then the ones who are on this earth,
07:56they will change to a body like Christ,
07:58at his coming.
08:00That's the second order.
08:02Then,
08:03cometh the end.
08:05The end of what?
08:06The end of this earth.
08:07When he,
08:08shall have delivered up the kingdom of God,
08:10even the Father.
08:13So,
08:13there's a point in time,
08:14when we see the millennial reign of Christ,
08:16where Jesus Christ is on this earth,
08:18ruling and reigning for a thousand years.
08:20But at some point in time,
08:22after that,
08:23at the end,
08:24is when Jesus will hand the kingdom back to God the Father,
08:27and he shall put down all rule,
08:30and all authority,
08:31and power.
08:32He must reign,
08:33till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
08:36That last enemy that shall be destroyed is dead.
08:39So,
08:39what we see here,
08:41is an order of things.
08:42Jesus,
08:43he's already been risen from the dead.
08:46And then,
08:46we will rise from the dead at the second coming.
08:49And then,
08:49what's going to happen?
08:50The thousand year reign of Christ,
08:52where he's ruling and reigning on this earth,
08:54and then,
08:54he gives the kingdom over to the Father,
08:57when the heaven and earth is destroyed,
08:59and there's a new heaven and new earth,
09:02and all the people in hell are taken out of the center of the earth,
09:04and put into the outer darkness,
09:06that's when he takes over death.
09:08That's when it's all gone.
09:11That's when he destroys death.
09:13So,
09:14he is the boss,
09:15because God is,
09:17Jesus is handing over the kingdom to him.
09:19And we constantly see throughout the Bible,
09:22especially in the book of John,
09:23where Jesus says,
09:24I'm not coming to do my will,
09:25but the Father's will.
09:26Where if you're doing somebody else's will,
09:28there's a hierarchy of being,
09:32who's the boss.
09:34Number four is,
09:35the Father,
09:36a Father takes responsibility.
09:38A Father takes responsibility.
09:40So,
09:40go to Exodus 4.
09:43It's the best example.
09:44I've used this example before.
09:46Responsibility.
09:47What does that mean?
09:47Taking responsibility,
09:48not blaming others.
09:51Not saying,
09:52well,
09:52if this had happened,
09:53this would have gone on.
09:54We see,
09:55you know,
09:56in Genesis,
09:57we're not going to go there,
09:58where Adam blames God for creating Eve.
10:02It's Eve's fault.
10:03Exodus 4 is where we're going.
10:07And God says,
10:09you know,
10:10I gave you Eve as a helpmate,
10:14and he blames her.
10:15Well,
10:15if you hadn't brought her,
10:16I wouldn't have sinned.
10:17That's not true.
10:18He would have still sinned,
10:19because we see here,
10:21we just saw where in 1 Corinthians,
10:23one man had to bring in sin,
10:25and he had to do that,
10:26because then Jesus Christ would come in,
10:29and fix that for us.
10:31Look at Exodus 4.
10:34You remember the way things happen,
10:36is we see Moses,
10:39and he goes back to Egypt,
10:43and he kills a man,
10:45he hides him in the dust,
10:46and he has to leave,
10:48because the Pharaoh's looking for him.
10:49Look at verse 18.
10:50This is where we're at.
10:51So he leaves,
10:52and goes to his father-in-law.
10:54Moses went and returned to Jethro,
10:56his father-in-law,
10:57and said to him,
10:58let me go,
10:59I pray thee,
11:00and return to my brethren,
11:01which are in Egypt,
11:02and see whether they be yet alive.
11:05And Jethro said to Moses,
11:06go in peace.
11:07And the Lord said unto Moses,
11:08and Midian,
11:09go return into Egypt,
11:11for all the men are dead,
11:12which sought thy life.
11:13So God tells him,
11:14the Lord tells him,
11:15go back to Egypt,
11:18everybody's gone.
11:19And Moses took his wife,
11:21and his sons,
11:21and said to them,
11:22Panias,
11:22and he returned to the land of Egypt.
11:24And Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
11:26And the Lord said unto Moses,
11:28when thou goest to return into Egypt,
11:31see thou doest all those wonders before Pharaoh,
11:33which I have put in thine heart,
11:35but I will harden his heart,
11:37and he shall not let the people go.
11:39And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh,
11:41thus said the Lord,
11:42Israel is my son,
11:43even my firstborn.
11:45And I say unto thee,
11:46let my son go,
11:48that he may serve me,
11:49if thou refuse to let him go.
11:51Behold,
11:52I will slay thy son,
11:53even thy firstborn.
11:54So again,
11:55this is one of those foreshadowing things
12:00of Israel being the firstborn son,
12:04and he's going to slay him.
12:06This is a foreshadowing that God the Father
12:08is going to slay his firstborn son,
12:10Jesus Christ for us.
12:12And it came to pass away in the inn
12:14that the Lord met him
12:16and sought to kill him.
12:19So,
12:20I've had people try to tell me
12:22that the reason the Lord's trying to kill him
12:24is because he doesn't go back to Egypt.
12:26Well,
12:28the first 19 and 20 says that he's going back to Egypt.
12:31He's headed that way.
12:33So that's not the thing.
12:34So he's staying at an inn,
12:36you know,
12:36a motel or whatever.
12:37And he's seeking to kill him.
12:39Why is the Lord trying to kill him?
12:41Look at the next verse.
12:41Then Zipporah took a sharp stone
12:43and cut off the foreskin of her son
12:45and cast it at his feet
12:47and said,
12:47Surely a bloody husband art thou.
12:49So he let him go.
12:52And then she said,
12:53A bloody husband thou art
12:55because of the circumcision.
12:58So we see a little bit more
12:59that the Lord's seeking him.
13:01Why?
13:02Because he did not circumcise his son
13:04for whatever reason.
13:06Now,
13:06we don't see in the Bible
13:07where God told Moses himself,
13:10You must circumcise your son.
13:12But we do know that
13:13throughout the Bible
13:14that that happened
13:15in the book of Genesis
13:17where Abraham circumcised
13:19his son and himself
13:20and all this stuff.
13:22So it wasn't where he,
13:24but Moses knew that.
13:25And look,
13:26I'm here to tell you,
13:27the Lord was seeking to kill him.
13:28Why?
13:29Because he didn't circumcise his son.
13:31And he doesn't keep,
13:32and obviously Zipporah
13:33was the reason he didn't do it,
13:35his wife.
13:36But never does the Lord say,
13:38I'm going to kill you, woman,
13:39because you're keeping him
13:40from doing it.
13:41No.
13:42It's Moses
13:43who's going to be held responsible.
13:46And what would happen
13:47if he didn't do it?
13:48Then, well,
13:49we would have had
13:49a different story
13:50in Exodus,
13:51Leviticus,
13:52Numbers,
13:53and Deuteronomy.
13:55So,
13:56the man is ahead
13:57of the household
13:58because he's responsible.
13:59Go to 1 Timothy 3.
14:03And you can try to sugarcoat this
14:05however you want to.
14:06But this is what the Bible says.
14:08This is God's plan.
14:12I know everybody has
14:13different situations
14:14in their life.
14:15But this is plan A for God.
14:17Look at 1 Timothy 3,
14:19verse 1.
14:20This is the qualifications
14:22for a bishop,
14:23a pastor,
14:24whatever.
14:26This is a true saying.
14:28If a man desire
14:28the office of a bishop,
14:29he desires the good work.
14:30A bishop then
14:31must be blameless,
14:32the husband of one wife,
14:34not at a time,
14:35that means never divorced,
14:36vigilant,
14:37sober of good behavior,
14:38given a hospitality,
14:40apt to teach,
14:41not given a wine,
14:42no striker,
14:44not greedy,
14:45a filthy lucre,
14:46but patient,
14:47not a brawler,
14:47not covetous,
14:49one that rule
14:50of his house well,
14:51having his children
14:52in subjection
14:53with all gravity.
14:54Why?
14:55Why is all this necessary?
14:57You know,
14:57I remember I went
14:58to a church one time
14:59and they were looking
15:00for a pastor
15:00and they had a,
15:01you know,
15:02a questionnaire.
15:04Do you want a pastor
15:04that's married?
15:05Do you want a pastor
15:06with children?
15:07What?
15:08Here's the qualification.
15:09Married with children.
15:11That's it.
15:12Why?
15:13Look at verse 5.
15:14For if a man.
15:15Now remember,
15:16any time the Bible
15:17has parentheses,
15:18it's to give us
15:19a better understanding
15:20of what's being told
15:21before that.
15:22Here's a better understanding.
15:23While these rules
15:24are in God's place,
15:26for if a man
15:27knows not how
15:28to rule his house,
15:29his own house,
15:30how shall he take care
15:31of the church of God?
15:33So the qualifications
15:34of a pastor
15:35is for a man
15:37to be married
15:37to one person.
15:39You know,
15:40people say,
15:41well,
15:41what happens
15:42if the woman
15:42decides to get a divorce?
15:43Then his house
15:44ain't in order.
15:46And then he should
15:47step down as a pastor
15:48or whatever.
15:50Or what,
15:50you know,
15:50somebody who says,
15:51well,
15:52I know this guy
15:53and he's been married
15:54and divorced
15:54and remarried
15:55and he's a great guy
15:57and he gets up there
15:58and preaches
15:58and he's got great sermons.
16:00I don't care.
16:01That's not what
16:02the qualifications are.
16:05You got to be able
16:06to take care of your house.
16:07That's the qualification.
16:08That's why God says,
16:09hey,
16:09this guy would be
16:10a good pastor.
16:11Why?
16:11Because he's taking care
16:12of his own house.
16:14And that's taking responsibility.
16:17Go to 1 Samuel 15.
16:19You ever thought about
16:22why God
16:23loved
16:25David
16:26more than he did
16:27Saul?
16:28I've got an answer
16:29for you.
16:31David took responsibility
16:33immediately
16:34after he committed
16:35adultery,
16:36which is a sin
16:37and a death.
16:38He takes responsibility
16:39for it
16:40and tells God
16:41he's sorry.
16:421 Samuel 15.
16:44But Saul,
16:49not so much.
16:50He's always blaming
16:51folks for this
16:52and that
16:52and why things
16:53ain't working out.
16:53Look at 1 Samuel 15
16:55verse 3.
16:56We'll skip around
16:57in this chapter
16:58a little bit
16:58for time.
17:00So,
17:01we see
17:02in verse 3,
17:04Now go and smite
17:05Amalek
17:06and utterly destroy
17:07all that they have
17:08and spare them not
17:10but slay both
17:11man and woman.
17:12infant and suckling
17:15ox and sheep
17:16camel and ass.
17:18So,
17:20if you go back
17:21to Exodus 17
17:23which we're not going there
17:24and Numbers 24
17:25you'll see why
17:26this is being done.
17:29Because
17:30God promises
17:31that he will get
17:32the Amalek's back
17:34and he does.
17:35Go down to
17:36verse 7.
17:38Excuse me.
17:40So,
17:40this is the commandment.
17:41Go down there
17:42kill every woman
17:44every man
17:45infant
17:46little babies
17:48sheep
17:49no animals
17:51everything
17:51everything
17:52is supposed to be destroyed
17:53that's what God commands.
17:55Verse 7
17:56And Saul
17:57smote
17:58the Amalekites
17:59from Havilah
18:00until thou
18:01comest to
18:02Shur
18:02is over against Egypt
18:04and he took
18:04Agag
18:05the king of Amalekites
18:06alive.
18:08Now he just
18:08disobeyed God
18:09didn't he?
18:10He was supposed to
18:10kill everybody
18:11especially the king
18:12and utterly destroyed
18:13all the people
18:14with the edge of the sword
18:15but
18:16Saul and the people
18:18spared Agag
18:19which is the king
18:22and the best of the sheep
18:24and of the oxen
18:25and of the fatlings
18:26and the lambs
18:27and all that was good
18:27and would not
18:29utterly destroy them
18:30but everything
18:31was vile
18:32and refused
18:33they utterly
18:34destroyed
18:35so all the good stuff
18:36all the good animals
18:37that would look good
18:38they kept them
18:39why?
18:41Well let's keep reading
18:42Then came the word of the Lord
18:44unto Samuel
18:45saying
18:45it repenteth me
18:46this is one of the times
18:47that the Lord's repenting
18:49he's not repenting
18:50of his sins
18:50but he says
18:52I should be changing my mind
18:54why?
18:55making Saul
18:56the king
18:57he has turned back
18:58from following me
18:59and has not performed
19:00my commandments
19:01and it grieved Samuel
19:02and he cried unto the Lord
19:03all night
19:04when Samuel rose early
19:05to meet Saul in the morning
19:06it was told Samuel
19:08saying
19:09Saul came to Carmel
19:10and behold
19:11he set him up a place
19:12and has gone
19:13and passed on
19:14and gone down to Gilgal
19:15verse 13
19:17Samuel came to Saul
19:18and Saul said to him
19:20blessed be thou the Lord
19:21I have performed
19:22the commandments of God
19:23so he said
19:24look at me
19:25I've done everything
19:26God asked me
19:26and look at the next verse
19:27and Samuel said
19:28what meaneth then
19:30this bleeding of the sheep
19:31in mine ears
19:32and the lowing of the oxen
19:33which I hear
19:34because Samuel knew
19:35what God wanted
19:36because he told Saul
19:38he said
19:39why are there animals
19:40if you did what God
19:41told you to
19:42I shouldn't be hearing
19:43any animals
19:43bleeding
19:44and lowing
19:45of the oxen
19:46Saul said
19:47they have brought them
19:48he said
19:49they have brought them
19:50from the Amalekites
19:52talking about these animals
19:53for the people
19:54spared the best
19:55of the sheep
19:56and of the oxen
19:57to sacrifice
19:58and the Lord thy God
19:59and the rest
19:59we have utterly destroyed
20:00now that sounds
20:01like a good thing
20:02I'm giving the best
20:03to God
20:03which we should give
20:04our best to God
20:05when we're giving
20:07our tithes
20:08and offerings
20:08but guess what
20:10that's not what God
20:11asked him to do
20:11he asked him to kill
20:12every one of them
20:13for whatever reason
20:14I don't know
20:14maybe they're defiled
20:15maybe they did weird
20:16things to the animal
20:17maybe God just did not
20:19want to have them
20:19then Samuel said
20:21unto Saul
20:22stay
20:22and I will tell thee
20:23what the Lord
20:24hath said unto me
20:24this night
20:25and he said unto him
20:26say on
20:26Samuel said
20:28when thou was little
20:29in thine own sight
20:30was thou not made
20:31the head of the tribes
20:32of Israel
20:33and the Lord
20:33anointed thee king
20:35over the Israel
20:36he's saying
20:37look
20:37when you were nothing
20:38God made you
20:39the king of Israel
20:40and the Lord
20:41sent thee on a journey
20:42and said
20:42go and utterly
20:43destroy the sinners
20:44the Malachites
20:45and fight against them
20:47that they be
20:47until they be consumed
20:49wherefore then
20:50didst thou not
20:51obey the voice of the Lord
20:52but didst fly upon
20:53the spoil
20:54and didst evil
20:55in the sight of the Lord
20:56he's saying
20:56look
20:57you didn't do
20:57what God asked you to
20:58and look at what
20:59Saul says next
21:00and Saul said
21:01unto Samuel
21:02yea
21:02I have obeyed
21:04the voice of the Lord
21:05and have gone
21:06the way
21:06which the Lord
21:07sent me
21:07and I have brought
21:08Agag
21:08the king of the Malachites
21:10and have utterly
21:10destroyed the Malachites
21:11but
21:12the people
21:13it's the people's fault
21:15not my fault
21:16I did what I was
21:17supposed to
21:18took of the spoil
21:19the sheep
21:20and the ox
21:20and the chief of things
21:21which should have been
21:22utterly destroyed
21:23to sacrifice
21:23unto the Lord
21:24thy God
21:25and Gilgal
21:26he's saying
21:26I did what I was
21:27supposed to do
21:28but he really didn't
21:30he didn't kill Agag
21:31the king
21:32he's saying
21:33the people did it
21:34it's the people's fault
21:35well he does not have
21:36control over his household
21:38Samuel said
21:39hath the Lord
21:39as great delight
21:41in burnt offerings
21:42and sacrifice
21:42and obeying
21:43the voice of the Lord
21:44behold obey
21:45is better than sacrifice
21:48and to hearken
21:49that the fettered
21:49around
21:50for rebellion
21:51is as a sin
21:52of witchcraft
21:52and stubbornness
21:54is iniquity
21:55and idolatry
21:56but thou hast
21:57rejected the word
21:58Lord
21:58and he has rejected
21:59thee from being king
22:00so at that point
22:01God says
22:01you're not going
22:02to be king anymore
22:02because he didn't
22:04take responsibility
22:04so why does God
22:06love David more
22:07because David
22:08takes responsibility
22:09when God
22:10when Nathan
22:12the prophet
22:12or somebody says
22:13hey you messed up
22:14you messed up
22:15with God
22:16he automatically
22:17says
22:18what do I need
22:18to do
22:19to make it right
22:19he takes responsibility
22:21the next thing
22:23is a father
22:24delegates responsibility
22:251st Timothy 5
22:27so not only
22:29does he take
22:29responsibility
22:30for what's going on
22:33but a father
22:33delegates
22:34responsibility
22:361st Timothy 5
22:44verse 13
22:50and with all
22:56this is talking
22:57about the women
22:57and with all
22:59they learn
22:59to be idle
23:00wandering
23:00from house
23:01to house
23:01not only idle
23:02but tattlers
23:03also
23:04and busybodies
23:05speaking things
23:06which they all not
23:07so he's saying
23:08look
23:08when women
23:09are not
23:09keeping themselves
23:10busy
23:11they're idle
23:12that's where you
23:12get this idea
23:13of the idle hands
23:14or a devil's workshop
23:15and that's what
23:16it's talking about
23:17is when you're idle
23:18and you're not
23:18doing anything
23:19you start thinking
23:20about doing
23:21other things
23:22tattling
23:23busybodies
23:24being in people's
23:25other business
23:25and speaking things
