00:00so starting a new book first Corinthians one I always like it when we start a new
00:09book it just seems to be like a new beginning the first Corinthians chapter
00:17one I will tell you that first Corinthians and second Corinthians are
00:20probably the hardest to me y'all may find it differently to understand even
00:27Peter said that the writings of Paul are difficult to understand and I'd say first
00:35Corinthians second Corinthians are the hardest because these are probably the
00:39most twisted this is where people get about speaking in tongues this is a lot
00:45of misconceptions and a lot of false doctrine comes from first and second
00:50Corinthians but it is a difficult and I think it's because Paul is such an
00:56educated man that we see part of his his intelligence comes through that again
01:03the whole Bible is spoken and inspired by God look at verse 1 Paul called to be an
01:11apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God and Sosthenes our brother so I'm
01:16just gonna stop right there and just tell you that anytime it says called or will
01:21that it has nothing to do with salvation but God knew before the beginning of time
01:27before anything was created that a man that was named Saul who changed his name
01:32to Paul would be a person that would persecute Christians that would do a lot of
01:39bad to Christians but on the same hand turn around and do a lot of good because
01:45there's 13 books in the Bible that was pinned down by Paul or somebody from him so again it has nothing
01:55to be nothing to do with salvation has to do any time of being called just like in
02:01Jeremiah he knew before God knew before Jeremiah was born that he was gonna be able
02:06to do the job that he was able to do Abraham same thing keep your finger there go to second Peter 3

02:47it is hard for us to understand but one day is like a thousand years so time things like it's a lot of times
02:56past but it's not to Lord but the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but
03:03is long suffering to us burden not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance
03:11so I wrote many many years ago above this verse not Calvinism because it's one of the verses that just
03:19destroys Calvinism that God wants everybody to be saved the Lord wants everybody to be saved
03:25and sometimes we're thinking man why does the Lord allow these people to do this these things and
03:31it's because he not because he's slack because it's long suffering you think back to your life
03:37maybe you're saved as a young kid or a young teenager maybe you weren't sometimes we think we try to
03:46put ourselves on other people but we shouldn't do that God knows what's going to happen he knows
03:53beginning from then he knows he's going to be saved he's not going to be saved but again he wants
03:58everybody to come to repentance that's not repentance of sin that just means to change your mind about how
04:05you think salvation is the word repent just means to change your mind nobody's trusting in their own sin
04:13to get them saved or to go to heaven but some people are trusting their own works so what the repentance
04:19is you're changing your mind that whatever you think is getting you to heaven with your works or
04:25whatever that that's not it that's what it says when it says come repentance that's what it means
04:31changing your mind not repenting of your sins repenting of your sins is something you should do
04:36after you're saved because if you're trying to repent of your sins to be saved you go to heaven
04:42you're working your way to heaven and that won't work go back to first corinthians 1
04:46verse 2 unto the church of god which is at corinth to them that are sanctified in christ jesus called to
04:58be saints with all that in with all that in every place call upon the name of jesus christ our lord
05:05both theirs and ours so this verse gives us an idea of salvation in romans 10 we see this
05:13where people are sanctified by jesus and what by the being sanctified is what they have to call on the
05:22name of the lord it's not just good enough to believe on jesus or believe in jesus you have to call on the
05:30name of the lord just like i explained sunday that if you think that jesus can save you you have to
05:35ask him to do that just like he's a doctor that uh he's that doctor and you have to say dr jesus
05:42i can't go to heaven on my own i need you to save me but you have to ask him um that's important
05:50it's not what you say it's that you say it and if you've never called on the name of the lord and
05:56you told him that you don't have to do it audibly you could do it in your own head you're not saved
06:01but to be sanctified means that you're clean of your sins through jesus christ because he died on
06:08the cross and then when that happens you are called a saint has nothing to do with these uh catholic
06:16people that are inside the catholic church they call them the saints or um you know the orthodox
06:23church you go into orthodox church and they got all these statues of all these people
06:28um or whatever it is it has nothing to do with that a saint is anybody who's saved that and that
06:35is by believing on the lord jesus christ verse three grace be unto you and peace from god our father and
06:43from the lord jesus christ i thank my god always on your behalf for the grace of god which is given you
06:50by jesus christ so this is a theme you'll constantly see that where paul is writing he's constantly saying
07:00grace and peace grace and peace why is that well keep your finger then go to colossians one

07:24for please the father that in him should all fullness dwell
07:29and having made peace through the blood of his cross
07:33by him to reconcile all things unto himself by him i say
07:38whether they be things in earth or things in heaven
07:41so the bible makes it clear that
07:43jesus christ made peace
07:46between him and god the father by dying on the cross but not only that
07:50we have peace
07:53with god
07:54through
07:55being saved
07:58go to john 3
07:59just got through with john 3 this is probably one of the
08:02my favorite verses in john that it
08:05describes salvation
08:08and guess what
08:11it's got the word believe in it twice
08:13john 3 36
08:15he that believeth on the son
08:17hath
08:18means
08:19past tense
08:20has
08:21have
08:22not gonna have
08:24everlasting life
08:26and he that believeth not the son
08:28shall not see life
08:30but the wrath of god abideth on him
08:32so just make sure you understand that anybody
08:35out there
08:37that has reached the age of accountability
08:39that has not believed on the lord jesus christ
08:41they have the wrath of god abideth on them
08:44jews which is judaism
08:46muslims
08:48hindus
08:48catholics
08:49that they're trusting in their works
08:51which 99.9 percent of them are
08:53greek orthodox
08:55calvinists
08:55folks all these people have god's wrath
08:58abiding on them
09:00why
09:00because they've not believed

09:06it clearly says that

09:11so we have peace

09:16what is grace
09:16grace is something you get that you don't deserve

09:20if anybody thinks they deserve heaven

09:25they're prideful
09:27we have to
09:28humble ourselves
09:29so grace
09:30is something we get that we don't deserve
09:32so we don't deserve heaven
09:34we can get heaven
09:35by believing on christ
09:36and peace
09:37is what we have between
09:38god the father and man
09:40through the lord jesus christ
09:42and then he's telling them
09:43in verse 4
09:45that i thank god always on your behalf

09:51of first corinthians and second corinthians
09:53is about
09:54the the church
09:55in corinth
09:56allowing a man
09:58who has committed
09:59fornication

10:06and we'll find out
10:08in a couple chapters
10:09in first corinthians 5
10:10that even
10:11even the gentiles
10:13think this is weird
10:14but they're allowing them
