00:00:00so the title of the sermon is God uses bad people God uses bad people what I
00:00:07mean by bad if you went to anybody and ask them what they would consider a bad
00:00:13person you know most people would say you know a murder you know I mean I
00:00:19imagine if you took 10 people I'm not just talking about 10 saved people so
00:00:24the Bible is chock full of people who in the world's eyes would say are bad
00:00:30people but I'm going to show you six people and I ran out of think I ran out
00:00:36of time to show you seven but there's more people of people in the Bible that
00:00:41God used for great things and they are considered bad so first go to Genesis 6
00:00:48you don't have to go far in the Bible to show Genesis chapter 6 the first person
00:00:53is Noah Noah
00:01:01Genesis 6 verse 5 I'm gonna try to show you what God felt about them and in
00:01:08contrast of what they did that was wrong so you understand the high regard that
00:01:14God had for them even though they were bad look at Genesis 6 5 you got to think
00:01:23there's I don't know how many people there are on earth at this time there's a
00:01:26whole lot of people and God saw the wickedness of man so all of mankind he
00:01:33saw the wickedness that was being done was great in the earth and that every
00:01:37imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually so God is
00:01:43seeing that people are just evil on this earth and it repented the Lord now this is
00:01:48the first time the Lord repents and I've showed you before in the King James
00:01:52Bible the Lord repents more than any other person 35 times in the new Bible
00:01:58versions they change it to relent because they want you to think you got to repent
00:02:01of your sins to be saved just another one of the reasons not to use a new Bible
00:02:05version but this is the first time now what did he repent of he repented that he
00:02:10had made man so you got to understand the whole reason God made us man on this
00:02:15earth is for his for his glory for his satisfaction for his for him we don't we're
00:02:24not for ourselves is for him and it grieved him at his heart and the Lord said I will
00:02:33destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth both man and beast and the
00:02:38creeping thing and the fowls of the air for repenteth me that I made them so the
00:02:45word repent just means to change your mind so the Lord's trying to change his
00:02:49mind that he made man not because God didn't know what was going to happen he
00:02:54knew what was going to happen from the same thing from the beginning before he
00:02:58created man but it he's talking about changing his course of action because of
00:03:04what man did it's not that God had to change his mind because he didn't know
00:03:09what happened it's because man made him change his mind I want to make that clear
00:03:15God knows everything from the beginning to the end but Noah found grace in the eyes
00:03:21of the Lord these are generations of Noah was a just man and perfect in his
00:03:26generations now he's saying he's a just man he's the best man on the earth and he's
00:03:32perfect means he's completing what he does doesn't mean that he's perfect good
00:03:36and sinless because that just doesn't make any sense
00:03:38and Noah walked with God and he begat three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth and the
00:03:43earth was corrupt before God and the earth was filled with violence and God
00:03:47looked upon the earth and behold it was corrupt and all flesh had corrupted his way
00:03:51upon the earth and God said unto Noah the end of all flesh has come before me for the
00:03:56earth is filled with violence through them and behold I will destroy them with the earth
00:04:01so God looks all over the earth and the only person he finds grace with the only person
00:04:08that he finds that is is worthy to live at this point is Noah his three sons their wives
00:04:16and his wife Noah's wife so we got eight people that he found grace with so what
00:04:24happened go to Genesis 9 so we know the story he builds an ark 120 years he put
00:04:30all the animals on there it took takes him that long to build the ark finally it rains it's never
00:04:36rained before rain comes from under the ground from a from on top and drowns every breath living
00:04:46thing out there other than what's inside the ark and then God allows the ark to finally the
00:04:52water to go down and he ends up on a place and where this is the next part is where he gets off the ark
00:04:59right after the rainbow right after God puts a rainbow in the in the sky and says this is a
00:05:05covenant between you and me saying that I'll never destroy the earth with water again right after that
00:05:13what happens look at verse 20 in Genesis 9 and Noah began and husbandman now husbandman anytime you see
00:05:24that in the bible it's just what we would call a farmer or somebody who takes care of animals so
00:05:30something that is taking care of animals or you know you may go to an agricultural college and take
00:05:37animal husbandry it's just to learn how to take care of animals or plants and he planted a vineyard so
00:05:43he's planting a vineyard and he drank of the wine and was drunken so obviously he made wine to where
00:05:52it was made into alcoholic wine and was uncovered within his tent so he's basically laying naked in
00:05:59his tent and that's what the bible says and ham this is one of Noah's sons the father of canaan
00:06:08saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brethren without and shem and japheth took a garment and
00:06:14laid upon their shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father
00:06:18and faces were backward and their faces were backward and saw not their father's nakedness
00:06:24and noah awoke from his wine and knew not what his younger son had done unto him and he said cursed
00:06:30be canaan a servant of his father should be under his brethren well what he basically did was some
00:06:36kind of sodomite thing that's what ham did and his other two sons that's what uncovered his nakedness
00:06:44means it does the bible is careful not to be gross and disgusting like the world is today but that's
00:06:52what he's saying because he's cursing canaan which is ham's son to be later on that's his son is called
00:07:00canaan and then you know throughout the bible the canaanites is were wicked people so what did he do
00:07:07you know you know as soon as he got off the ark he created a garden and he got drunk well the bible
00:07:14says not to do that so god used a drunkard because uh most people can go back in dna and they'll tell
00:07:22you the as far as they can go back in dna is about 2500 bc why is that because every single thing was
00:07:29destroyed and we all come from noah and his family all the way back to noah and his family that's one
00:07:38of us that's one of if you could trace back your dna that's what you'd come back to they're going to
00:07:42tell you that because they want to show you that the bible is no good the next person is abraham so noah
00:07:48was a drunkard abraham go to genesis 12 and now look when i was preparing the sermon i was sitting there
00:07:57thinking you know the jews and and any person that knows about the bible father abraham had many sons
00:08:06they put high regard on abraham abraham and moses are probably the two men in the old testament that
00:08:12god that most people would put the most regard to but let me tell you abraham was an adulterer
00:08:21uh you say we'll prove it with genesis 12 let's see what god felt about him when genesis 12 verse 1
00:08:26and the lord had said unto abram before he changed his name to abraham get thee out of the country for
00:08:33thy kindred for thy father's house and to a land that i will show thee and i will make thee a great
00:08:39nation i will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing and i will bless them
00:08:44that bless thee and curse them that curses thee and in thine these shall all families of the earth be
00:08:50blessed so god makes this covenant with him and says you will be that guy to bring a great nation
00:08:57okay but what is abraham he has no children his wife's old he's old so what happens he starts to
00:09:07wander around and he gets impatient just like we all do we all get impatient with god we want it now
00:09:14you said it's going to happen why didn't it happen we'll go to genesis 16. genesis chapter 16
00:09:26now sarah is abram's wife and she's not having any children and she wants us to come true
00:09:36now i don't know why sarah did this but for whatever reason she's not right in it she done wrong as well
00:09:44genesis 16 verse 1 now sarah abram's wife bare him no children and she had a handmaid an egyptian
00:09:51whose name was hagar and sarah said to abram behold now the lord has restrained me from burying i pray
00:09:58thee go in unto my maid that it may be obtained children by her and abram hearkened to the voice of sarah
00:10:06and sarah sarah's abram's wife took hagar her maid the egyptian after abram and dwelt ten years in the
00:10:15land of canaan and gave her her to her husband abram to be his wife and he went into hagar and she
00:10:22conceived and she saw that she had conceived and her mistress was despised in her eyes and sarah said
00:10:28and abram my wrong be upon thee i have given my maid into thy bosom and when she saw that she had
00:10:35conceived i was despised in her eyes the lord judge between me and thee but abram said unto sarah
00:10:41behold thy maid is in thy hand do to her as it pleases thee and when sarah dealt hardly with her
00:10:49she fled from her face so what happened sarah sarah abram's wife she says i'm not going to have any
00:10:57children take my maid i mean today if you heard of a husband and some wife they have a maid that
00:11:06comes in and cleans the house or whatever and you heard of him sleeping with the maid to have children
00:11:12what would you think wow that's great i mean that would be on some kind of jerry springer show or
00:11:17something wouldn't it i mean that's crazy but this is what abram did and sarah sarah was a part of it
00:11:24and we just kind of glaze over this sometimes and read over it and look i'm not judging abram but
00:11:30but that's what he did he committed that's an adultery he was married to sarah and he slept with
00:11:35another woman no matter what the reason is but god still used him how he still used him uh to be
00:11:44just like he said later on what does he do sarah becomes sarah and she has a child which is uh which is
00:11:52isaac and then with isaac the whole nation is named after um so yes even though he committed adultery
00:12:03and that's what it is you can't put anything if you have some type of physical relation with another
00:12:09woman while you're still married or a man then guess what you are committing adultery and that's what he did
00:12:16now i wasn't on that because guess what everybody knew it was not right to do but god still used it
00:12:24because god uses bad people uh go to genesis 25 the next person is jacob see we're still in the book
00:12:32of genesis we ain't got very far people are still being bad as the world would define it would not the
00:12:40world to find somebody sleeping with their maid just to have a child because their wife couldn't
00:12:45wouldn't they consider that to be bad i think so i think if you asked 10 people said hey if you were
00:12:51married and your husband slept with the maid who's cleaning the house would you consider that to be
00:12:59a bad thing i don't think there'd be anybody other than the maid that would probably say something
00:13:04different the third person is jacob genesis 25 jacob was a liar and a deceiver
00:13:15how did he do that we go to genesis 25 21
00:13:2525 21 and isaac entreated the lord for his wife because she was barren
00:13:32and the lord was entreated of him and rebecca his wife conceived and the children struggled
00:13:38together within her and she said if it be so why am i thus she went and inquired of the lord and
00:13:44the lord said to her two nations are in thy womb the two manner of people shall be separated
00:13:50from thy bowels and one people shall be stronger than the other people and the elder shall serve the
00:13:55younger so he's saying look you've got two nations and who is it it's is jacob and esau
00:14:02and both of them will create great nations jacob and esau will be the fathers of two great nations and
00:14:10and the lord's trying to tell her look you've got two inside of you one's going to be the better than
00:14:16the other and and when her days to be delivered were fulfilled behold there were twins in her womb
00:14:23and the first came out red all over like a hairy garment and they called his name esau and after
00:14:30that his brother came out and his hand took hold on esau's hill and his name was jacob and isaac was
00:14:37three score years old when she when she bare them so you got two that's coming out at the same time and
00:14:46jacob he's taking hold of esau's hill at the same time the boys grew and esau was a cunning hunter
00:14:52and a man of the field and jacob was a plain man dwelling in tents so you got jacob he's hanging out
00:14:58with mama uh he's not a mama's boy because we'll see you know if you read later in the bible you'll see
00:15:03that jacob takes his rock off of the well that nobody else can move so he's not a mama's boy not some
00:15:09kind of weakling but he is hanging out with mama and he's learning how to be like uh learning how
00:15:16to do things at home and esau he's a hunter he goes out in the field he likes to be outside there's no
00:15:22nothing wrong with that there's some people that just like to be outside i happen to be one of them
00:15:26and like to hunt and fish and there's some people they just don't like to um that would be my brother
00:15:31so there's nothing different about what people do but the bible like some people like to show jacob as
00:15:38being this little mama's boy but he's not he's he's tough in fact he wrestles with jesus christ later
00:15:45on hand-to-hand combat in chapter 33 and jacob sod pottage and esau came from the field and he was
00:15:56faint so you got jacob he's got food he saw he's faint from from being out there hunting and he comes
00:16:04in and esau said to jacob feed me i pray thee with that same red pottied for i am faint
00:16:12therefore his name called edom and jacob said sell me this day thy birthright
00:16:19now what you got to understand the importance of this is that your birthright means that if you're born
00:16:25first you have the right to what your father has that's just the way things were it's not really
00:16:33relevant today uh who is the first born uh generally now if you have more than one child
00:16:42you would probably split up things evenly in your wheel or whatever but back then that's not the way
00:16:48it was the person that was born first their birthright was to everything that isaac had that's what esau was
00:16:56he was born first now because so some of this doesn't make sense to us because it's just doesn't
00:17:03it's not relevant today but what jacob is doing he's telling him to sell his birthright to him for
00:17:09a pot thing of food now the crazy thing is this just shows us in life that sometimes the things that
00:17:16you will get if you wait long enough you'll get those um and this is a good example because i don't
00:17:24think anybody's gonna let esau die he's there at the house i mean mama's there daddy's there but he asked
00:17:32jacob and jacob says sell me your birthright now he could have easily said hey i'm not gonna do that man
00:17:39for whatever reason that's what he does and esau said behold i am to the point to die what profit
00:17:46shall this birthright do to me he's saying look what profit is a birthright if i'm fixing to die
00:17:51and jacob said swear to me this day and he's swearing to him and he sold his birthright unto jacob
00:17:57and jacob gave esau bread and pottage and lentils and he did eat and drink and rose up and went his way
00:18:04thus esau despised his birthright so he despised the birthright he sold it for
00:18:09a thing of beans and bread which he didn't even sell it for a steak so that don't make sense to me
00:18:16but that's just what happened so what happens later on is uh go over to uh chapter 27
00:18:30chapter 27 so later on you know there's some time goes on and then isaac is fixing to die
00:18:38and before he dies what he's trying to do he's going to give his blessing unto the firstborn
00:18:45now the bible doesn't tell us if isaac knew that this happened we don't know uh but i don't think
00:18:54he does because if that was the case he wouldn't be giving his blessing to jet to esau
00:19:00and so i think this was done kind of secretly you know i don't know that genesis 27 verse 6
00:19:09now rebecca you know she's kind of guilty of this too why because she loves jacob
00:19:14probably more than esau because you know she kind of hangs out with him all day and rebecca's
00:19:19speaking to jacob her son saying behold i heard thy father speaking to esau thy brother saying bring me
00:19:25venison and make me savory meat that i may eat and bless thee before the lord before my death so
00:19:32rebecca shouldn't have said that she kind of thought but again god's going to use this for
00:19:39something great bring me venison uh now therefore my son obey my voice according to that which i command
00:19:46thee go now to the flock and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats and i will make these savory
00:19:52meat for thy father such as he loveth thou shalt bring it to thy father that he may eat and he may
00:19:59bless thee before his death so she's saying go get a goat two of them kill it and i'll make the meat
00:20:07and let him eat it why because you know goat tastes a lot like deer in fact they're cousins if you didn't
00:20:14know that and but jacob responds to his mama and says to rebecca behold esau my brother is a hairy man
00:20:22and i'm a smooth man he said look my dad's blind but he's gonna be able to feel my arms and realize that
00:20:29i'm not him my father peradventure which means maybe will feed me and i shall seem to him as a deceiver
00:20:39and shall bring a curse upon me and not a blessing his mother said to them upon me be thy curse my son
00:20:47she said look i will be cursed do what i tell you to do so now you got rebecca she overhears what's
00:20:56happening she's got her son jacob involved in it to deceive her husband and it just snowballs and he
00:21:04went and fetched and brought to him his mother and his mother made savory meat such as the father loved
00:21:09and rebecca took goodly raiment for her elder son esau which was with her in the house and put them
00:21:17upon jacob her younger son she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon her his hands and upon the
00:21:23smooth of his neck and he had the savory meat and the bread and he had prepared into the hand of her son
00:21:28jacob now i don't know how hairy esau was but i have goats and i just don't understand his part
00:21:37because you could skin a goat and put it on your neck and put the skin on your arm and it just don't
00:21:43feel like a human but that's what the bible says that's what they did they skinned the goat put it on
00:21:49his arms and his hands and on his neck which just kind of looks kind of weird i imagine having the skin
00:21:54of goats when you read this but that's what they did now it's a kid so it's a small goat it's not
00:22:01rough you know you go and pet our goats and kind of rough so maybe a younger goat may have
00:22:08the hair may be softer like a human's i don't know but i guess baby isaac just wanted to believe it and
00:22:16she gave the savory meat and the bread and she had prepared it in the hand of her son jacob so jacob's
00:22:20taking the food to isaac his father when he came in his father and said my father he said here am i
00:22:25who art thou my son so right now he's deceiving him because he's saying who and jacob said to him i am
00:22:32esau thy firstborn i have done accordingly as thou abatest me arise i pray thee sit and eat of my venison
00:22:39that thou soul may bless me now i don't know does you know the bible doesn't tell us this but does
00:22:44jacob and esau sound the same because uh sound like to me that isaac would say hey you don't
00:22:51sound like him he says well how's that i found so quickly my son and he said because the lord that
00:22:57god brought it to me so now he's got the lord involved in it he says i got this deer so quick
00:23:02because god helped me do it so this is another lie and isaac said unto jacob come here near i pray
00:23:08thee that i may feel thee my son whether that be my very son esau or not so now isaac's not really
00:23:15sure he's thinking now this don't seem right and jacob went unto isaac his father and he felt him and
00:23:21said the voice is jacob's voice for the hands of the hands of esau so he's thinking this is not esau it
00:23:29does not sound you know blind people there are other senses sometimes take over and one of them is
00:23:36probably his hearing that he can't see all that good but he can probably hear better because
00:23:42uh sometimes when people's senses are taken away their other senses are heightened because they have
00:23:47to to use them and he discerned him not because his hands were hairy and his brother esau's hands
00:23:54so he blessed him and he said art thou my very son esau so here's another lie and he said i am
00:24:00uh and he said bring it near to me and i will eat that eat of my son's venison that my soul may be
00:24:08blessed thee and he brought it near to him and he did eat and brought him wine and any drink and his
00:24:14father isaac said unto him come near now and kiss me my son and he came near and kissed him smell the
00:24:20smell of his raiment and bless him and said see the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the
00:24:26lord hath blessed therefore god give thee of a dew of heaven and the fatness of the earth and a plenty
00:24:32of corn and wine not only did he smell like a field i'm sure he smelled like a dead goat because he's got
00:24:37this skin on him let people serve thee and nations bow down to thee be lord over thy brethren and let this
00:24:43mother's son bow down to thee curse be to everyone that curses thee and blessed be he that blesses thee
00:24:50so here's the blessing this is the big blessing that he blesses jacob instead of esau so what happens
00:24:57well uh look at verse 30 came to pass as soon as isaac had made an end of the blessing
00:25:06jacob and jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of isaac his father that esau his brother
00:25:12came in from his hunting so immediately after he gets through blessing jacob he gets gone and now
00:25:19here's esau maybe he saw esau coming up and he left and he had made savory meat and brought into
00:25:24his father and said his father let my father arise and eat of his son's venison that thy soul may be
00:25:30may bless me and isaac said his father said to him who art thee and he said i am thy son thy firstborn
00:25:37esau and isaac trembled with exceedingly very exceedingly and said who where is he that hath taken
00:25:44venison and brought it to me and i've eaten all before thou camest and have blessed him
00:25:50yea i and yea and he shall be blessed
00:25:56um and when esau heard the words of his father and cried with a great and seating bitter cry and he said
00:26:03to his father bless me even me also my father and he said that brother came with subtlety
00:26:09he's taking away thy blessing he said is not he rightly named jacob for he has supplanted me
00:26:17these two times he took away my birthright and behold now he has taken away my blessing and he said
00:26:24has thou not reserved a blessing for me now isaac answered said esau behold i made thy lord
00:26:30and all his brethren have i given to him for servants and with corn and wine and i sustain
00:26:36me and what shall i do now unto thy son so he's saying look i gave everything to jacob there's nothing
00:26:41left for you so what happens well uh god held jacob in such regard that what does he do he eventually
00:26:56um he moves on to this and guess what the 12 tribes of israel are going to come from his loins
00:27:02the 12 tribes of all the people uh are going to come from jacob and you know that's a big deal
00:27:13that's how god held him in regard but you know after this i think it's kind of funny this is the
00:27:18way god works sometimes when you deceive people or you do some kind of great sin god's going to get
00:27:25you back because what happens jacob goes to uh to uncle laban and he tries to find him his wife
00:27:32and what he does is when he goes to him he works seven years for rachel but he gets
00:27:40leah which is what his firstborn so the same thing that he did to esau trying to override being the
00:27:48firstborn laban tells him says i can't give you rachel she's not my firstborn leah's my firstborn you have
00:27:54to marry her and he does see he gets deceived by his future father-in-law by thinking it's rachel
00:28:02and her face is covered up maybe that's where they got the veil for and weddings i don't know
00:28:08and then he has to work seven more years to get rachel so he's got uh leah and rachel both of his wife
00:28:15that's just the way god works the next person is moses go to exodus 2
00:28:25moses
00:28:28again these are great men of the bible most people know they probably don't know who abimelech or all
00:28:34these other people are hezekiah but they do most people know about noah that they can spend any time
00:28:41in church they know about abraham even the jews know about abraham and they know about moses because
00:28:48moses what he did was so great that he brought the ten commandments he brought the the law in
00:28:57um look at exodus 2 but what did he do i told you about the story of moses how he was born
00:29:02the the egyptians were killing baby boys and they put them in the in the ark and they find them
00:29:12look at exodus 2 10 as he grows up look at uh exodus 2 10 and the child grew and she brought him into
00:29:19pharaoh's daughter and he became her son and she called his name moses and she said because i drew him
00:29:26out of the water and it came to pass in those days when moses was grown that he went out into his
00:29:32brethren and looked on their burdens and he spied an egyptian smiting and hebrew one of his brethren
00:29:38so he goes out and he learns that he's a hebrew as well he's not really an egyptian and as he sees
00:29:45you know they didn't stop the cruelty they didn't stop the slavery on the hebrews and he sees him be a
00:29:53hebrew being beaten by an egyptian and he looked this way and that way and he saw there's no man he
00:30:01slew the egyptian and hit him in the sand i learned a long time ago in law enforcement when you see
00:30:07somebody and they're looking one way and look at the other way they're looking for a way to escape
00:30:13or to do something because they're looking to see if somebody's looking at him so when somebody looks
00:30:18one way and looks the other way this is a good example in the bible that somebody's fixing to do
00:30:23something they shouldn't either run and escape or they're going to do something well he's not escaping
00:30:29and we saw there's no man he slew the egyptian so what'd he do he killed the guy the guy who beat
00:30:36this guy he killed him and hid him in the sand so what did moses do he committed murder i mean i don't
00:30:45know if there's any right for him to kill that guy i mean he's i'm sure if he went out there and saw he'd
00:30:50see a lot of hebrews being beaten and stuff like that so there's no uh legitimate reason for him to do
00:30:58that uh you may disagree but then how do i know that because he hid him in the sand means he was
00:31:05trying to hide the body you know you know what people do when they kill somebody they don't want
00:31:09anybody to know they hide him and when he went out the second day so the next day he goes out you know
00:31:14he's already put the man in the sand behold two men of the hebrews strove together and sent him
00:31:21that did the wrong wherefore smartest thou thou fellow so he's helping out the hebrews but two
00:31:29hebrew men tell him hey where's the guy that you just killed and he said who made thee a prince and
00:31:34a judge over us intending thou to kill me also thou killest egyptian and moses feared and said surely
00:31:42this thing is known so the same people he's trying to help are the ones telling him hey are you going to
00:31:47kill us too we're scared so moses does what he tries to leave and when pharaoh heard this thing
00:31:53he sought to slay moses folks this is pharaoh's grandson and he felt so strongly about the blood of
00:32:01an egyptian versus moses that he's willing to kill moses because he he killed one of his egyptian
00:32:08one of his egyptian soldiers uh but you know this is pharaoh's daughter's son which is his grandson
00:32:15and moses fled from the face of pharaoh and dwelt in the land of midian and he sat down by a well and
00:32:22the priest of midian had seven daughters and they came and drew water and filled the troughs to water
00:32:27their father's flock so that's what happened he what did he do he killed a man so what regard did
00:32:34god hold him from moses we go to exodus 33 we'll fast forward it we know that that god told him to
00:32:41release the hebrews out of that egyptian and he did all these 10 plagues and then eventually they
00:32:48release them that's when we get the idea of the the passover because the last one uh the angel passed
00:32:56over and killed all the firstborn in exodus 12 and in exodus 33 what regard did god have from us he's a
00:33:03murderer like i said you go out and ask anybody what do you think about a murder oh you know god can't
00:33:09save a murderer i mean you know what they'll tell you oh a murderer oh he can't go to heaven i mean
00:33:14if you ask anybody that they probably tell you that because they're thinking with their human head
00:33:20but look at exodus 33 7 and moses took the tabernacle and pitched it without the camp
00:33:25afar off from the camp and called it the tabernacle of the congregation so this is in between if you
00:33:31understand the story moses came off the mountain with the ten commandments and what did he see
00:33:36his brother aaron is letting them bow down naked to a cow that they made with their golden earrings
00:33:43and when he gets mad and he takes the ten commandments and he busts them well what happens
00:33:47well god says go back up there and i'm going to give it to you again so this is the second
00:33:52thing of ten commandments is in between this when he's going up to the mount
00:33:58it came to pass when moses went out of the tabernacle that all the people rose up and stood
00:34:03up every man at his tent door and looked after moses to has gone into the tabernacle and it came to
00:34:10pass moses entered in the tabernacle the cloudy pillar descended and stood at the door of the
00:34:15tabernacle and the lord taught with moses and all the people saw the cloudy pillars stand at the
00:34:20tabernacle door and all the people rose up and worshiped every man in his tent so the bible's telling
00:34:26us here if you didn't understand what all that was saying is that when other people would go inside
00:34:31a tabernacle no cloudy pillar but when moses went in there cloudy pillar why look at the next part
00:34:42and it came to pass moses entered the tabernacle the cloudy pillar descended and stood out the doubt
00:34:47at the door of the tabernacle and the lord lord capital talked with moses and all the people saw the
00:34:55cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door and the people rose up and worshiped every man in his tent and
00:35:00the lord spake unto moses face to face as a man speaketh unto his friend and he turned again into
00:35:07the camp but his servant joshua the son of none a young man departed out of the tabernacle so the bible
00:35:14is telling us that god held him in such great regard that the lord jesus christ would sit down in the
00:35:22tabernacle and speak to him face to face like he would another man aaron who was the head priest he
00:35:29didn't even do that with him um go up to or down to verse 18
00:35:39same chapter 33 18 and he said but i beseech thee show me thy glory so moses is telling god to show
00:35:45him his glory and he said i will make thee all goodness pass before thee and i will proclaim the
00:35:50name of the lord before thee and will be gracious to whom i will be gracious and will show mercy on
00:35:56whom will i show mercy and he said thou canst not see my face for there shall no man see me and live
00:36:05so the confusing part of this is well how did he see it face to face it just said that the lord l-o-r-d
00:36:13capital l-o-r-r-d which is the tetragrammaton which means the lord jehovah is speaking to moses face to
00:36:23face and then verses on down he says you can't see me but you'll die well it's pretty simple a lot
00:36:29of people pass over this they don't think about this they think that jesus came in matthew 1 he
00:36:34came in bethlehem's manger folks jesus has always been there he just he hadn't been known as jesus
00:36:39been known as the lord but the confusing part is it's not all that confusing he's speaking face to
00:36:45face of jesus christ here is god the father because no man can see god the father and live
00:36:52that jesus said the only person that's seen god the father is he himself when he sees him in heaven
00:37:00lord said behold there's a rock i'm sorry a place by me and thou shalt stand upon a rock it shall be come
00:37:06to pass while my glory passes by that i'll put thee in a cliff of a rock and will cover thee with my hand
00:37:14and i will pass by and i will take away mine hand and thou shalt see my back parts but my face
00:37:20shall not be seen we won't see god the father face until jim uh revelation 22 all the way back in the
00:37:27future uh go to exodus 34 verse 29 so what happens he sees god the father why i'm sorry he sees his
00:37:37hinder parts because there's a rock covering what does he see well look at verse uh 29 and it came
00:37:45to pass when moses came down from mount sinai so this is the second time he's coming off of mount sinai
00:37:51with the two tablets what happens he came down from the mount that moses wist not that the skin of his face
00:38:00shone while he talked with him and aaron and the children of israel saw moses behold the skin of his face
00:38:05shone and they were afraid to come nigh him so they're scared to come close to him because he's
00:38:11got this face and it's glowing so bright because he saw the glory of the hinder parts of god the father
00:38:18and moses called upon them and aaron and rulers of the congregation returned to him and moses talked
00:38:22with him and afterward all the children of israel came nigh and he gave them in commandment
00:38:28all that the lord had spoken with him in mount sinai until moses had done speaking with him he put a veil
00:38:36on his face so when moses is telling him about the ten commandments that the lord gave him his face is
00:38:42shining so bright they got to put a towel or some kind of cloth over his face because it's blinding them
00:38:49that's how god held moses the bible talks more about moses and the bible doesn't really talk about any
00:38:56other person in the bible after moses sitting there talking face to face with the lord other
00:39:02than when jesus comes in the flesh you know as the disciples i'm sure they spoke face to face but there's
00:39:07no other person in the bible in the old testament or anywhere else that spoke face to face with jesus christ
00:39:17the next person is samson go to judges 13
00:39:21i'm running out of time so i'm going to breeze through this real quick like but there's a lot
00:39:30let me tell you that samson when you read from uh chapter 13 of judges was starting chapter 13
00:39:38to judges 16 these you know three to four chapters you're going to find out samson was a murderer he was
00:39:46a thief he was a gambler he was an arsonist and he's an adulterer in fact the person i found that did
00:39:53the most was probably samson but the bible talks about the person who had the the glory of the lord
00:40:00or the strength of the lord on him it's probably more samson than any other person uh look at judges 13
00:40:06verse 1 and the children of israel did evil again in the sight of lord and the lord delivered them in
00:40:11the hand of the philistine 40 years so you constantly see especially through the book of judges
00:40:16and through the bible that the lord when he finds that people are doing evil he puts them what in
00:40:23captivity of somebody else the philistines the babylonians whatever and then at some time he
00:40:31rises up somebody to deliver them one man and this one man is samson because of the stuff they did
00:40:39and there's a certain man of zorah the family of danites whose name was manoah and his wife was barren
00:40:44and bear not the angel lord appeared unto the woman and said on her behold now thou art barren and
00:40:49bearish not thou shalt conceive and bear a son now therefore beware i pray thee and dream not wine nor
00:40:56strong drink or not even any unclean thing for lo thou shalt conceive and bear a son and no razor shall
00:41:03come on his head for the child shall be a nazarite unto god for from the womb and he shall begin
00:41:10to deliver israel out of the hand of the philistines so we know what a nazarite is they don't cut their
00:41:16hair they don't do anything like that uh they don't drink anything of the grape no wine no grape sticks no
00:41:26leaves and uh they're not supposed to touch anything dead so what does he do um you can look down at judges
00:41:3414 like i said i'm gonna breeze through this he finds a woman he likes a woman he wants to marry
00:41:40the woman his folks tell him not to marry this woman because she's a philistine but he likes her he loves
00:41:47her so dad goes down there and he tries to he makes a wedding with these the family and for some reason
00:41:56uh if you look at verse um 12 i don't know why samson does this but these people show up and he says i
00:42:05got a riddle for you and the riddles if you can declare the riddle within seven days of feasts and
00:42:11find out i would judge thee i will give you 30 sheets and 30 change of garments so he's he's gambling
00:42:18with the guys he says look if you figure out a riddle then i'll give you these clothes and he said if
00:42:25not you got to give me 30 sheets of garment now the thing about it is they didn't have a walmart they
00:42:31did the clothes was hard to make they were difficult to make you had to have a lot of skill a lot of
00:42:36patience a lot of material to make clothes and people just didn't have you go to your closet now and you've
00:42:42got clothes and clothes and clothes they didn't have that they might have had a couple things of clothes
00:42:46and when clothes got done with they threw them away or they try to make new clothes out of them
00:42:51so unless you're really rich or some kind of king or something you didn't really have a lot of clothes
00:42:57to be fooling around with but he makes this this riddle and he basically tells a riddle so basically
00:43:04what happens is they go to samson's wife and says hey if you don't tell us this riddle we're going to
00:43:09burn your your daddy's house down and you so she says okay you know what's the riddle so he they
00:43:17finally find out the riddle and um and look at verse 19 and four in chapter 14 and the spirit of
00:43:25the lord came upon him and he went down to ashkelon and slew 30 men of them and took their spoil and gave
00:43:32change of garments and to them which expounded in the riddle his anger was kindled and he went to
00:43:36his father's house samson's wife was given to his companion whom he refused to as a friend so now
00:43:43because of his gambling he lost the bet so now he goes out and just kills 30 people 30 men he don't
00:43:50know who they are now they're probably philistines and they're probably not all that good because the
00:43:56bible says the spirit of lord came upon him when he did that i don't know if god gave him the power
00:44:01to kill these people i don't know but the fact is the bible doesn't really say that these people deserve
00:44:07to die or anything um so he's a murderer he came and he had malice aforethought of killing these people
00:44:14and he did he's a gambler now he's a thief because after he killed him guess what he stole their 30
00:44:21garments and he paid those people back so he's a murderer a thief and a gambler so what happens
00:44:27uh look at chapter 15 1 but it came to pass within a while after in the time of wheat harvest so time's
00:44:34gone by samson visited his wife with a kid and he said i would go into my wife into the chamber
00:44:40but her father would not suffer him to go in so he wants to see his wife and he says the father-in-law
00:44:44says you can't and her father said i barely thought thou has utterly hated her therefore i gave her to
00:44:52thy companion is not her younger sister fairer than she take her i pray thee and set her so he said i
00:44:59gave your wife to another man samson said concerning them now i shall be more blameless in the philistines
00:45:07though i do to them in displeasure and samson went and called three hundred foxes and took firebrands
00:45:14and turned tail to tail and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails and he had set the brands on
00:45:21the fire on fire and he let them go in the standing corn on the philistines and burn up both the shocks
00:45:27and the standing corn with the vineyards and olives so it takes this is pretty amazing to me he first
00:45:33of all catching 300 foxes probably took a while but not only that he takes them and turns them tail
00:45:39to tail somehow he ties the tail together and he takes a firebrand like some kind of torch and he
00:45:45lights the torch and he releases them into the field and while they're running through the field
00:45:50they're catching the corn and all these other crops on fire that's what he does so now guess
00:45:56what he's an arsonist well what happens later well time goes on uh he kills a bunch of philistines
00:46:03that's where it talks about him killing a thousand with the jawbone of an ass and then you know he's
00:46:09thirsty and god says look in the jawbone of the ass there's water there he drinks it and he strengthens
00:46:15him up well what does he do look at 16 verse 1 when samson to gaza they saw there and harlot
00:46:23and went in unto her so now he's sleeping with a prostitute you know just don't get any better for
00:46:28this guy and it was told to the gazites that samson's come hither and they come past him and laid
00:46:34wait for him all night in the gate of city and quiet all night saying in the morning when his day
00:46:39we shall kill him and samson laid till midnight and arose at midnight and took the doors of the gate
00:46:45of the city and the two posts and went away with them bar and all and put them upon his shoulders
00:46:50and carry them to the top of a hill that is before hebron so you constantly see cartoons or
00:46:57movies of samson of this big bulking guy i just don't believe it folks i believe he was an average
00:47:05sized man and that's what i keep saying where is this man getting his strength if he's this big bulking
00:47:11man that looked like hulk hogan or or like arnold schwarzenegger people wouldn't say why is this man
00:47:17so strong they know that it's because he's got these bulging muscles and he's just strong i don't
00:47:23believe that i believe he was an average sized man and he got his strength from the lord this is a good
00:47:28example he took the whole doors off when you think about doors uh where it's like a double door and it's
00:47:35got a bar across it that's what he does he busts through the door and he takes whole doors off and
00:47:40leaves so what happens we know the story he likes delilah he falls in love with delilah i don't know if
00:47:48he ever marries delilah but but they offer her 1100 pieces of silver for them to give a thing well he kind
00:47:56of mocks delilah i think he knows that delilah is trying to deceive him so they threaten what they do
00:48:04is um first he tells them that i need green ropes if you tie my hands with green ropes that that will
00:48:11keep me well he busts those open then it's new rope so you know samson's a pretty dumb guy because
00:48:18the first time that he says hey that the philistines are after you you know he ought to think i think
00:48:25somebody's i think my wife set me up he doesn't do that then he says no uh new ropes if you get new
00:48:31ropes that's never been used and tie me up with them i can't get out of those and again what does
00:48:36she do hey the philistines are coming in here to get you and he breaks the ropes and then he says if
00:48:42you take and weave the seven locks of my hair together then i lose my strength well they she does
00:48:49it again so then finally she says hey you hate me you don't love me and just know girls anytime a man
00:48:57tells you if you truly love me then just know the next part is garbage because if they truly loved you
00:49:04they wouldn't tell you the next thing if you truly love them or they truly love you they would not ask
00:49:10you to do the next thing generally it's hey if you truly love me you lay with me if you truly love me you
00:49:16would do whatever folks just know anytime somebody tells you especially girls because they'll fall for
00:49:21this sometimes don't fall for it because you'll have young men that say if you really love me you would
00:49:28whatever it's garbage they're trying to deceive you and they did that with uh him so what does he do he
00:49:36tells delilah my hair is it if you cut my hair i lose my strength so what do they do they cut his hair
00:49:42hair and look at uh chapter uh verse 21 but the philistines took him put out his eyes so not only
00:49:51did they cut his hair and he has no strength they put his eyeballs out he has no eyeball he can't see
00:49:56and brought him down to gaza and bound him with fetters and brass and grind him in the prison house
00:50:01so they have a grinding stone what you have is you have a stone and then you have another stone and what
00:50:07they would take is an ox and he would spin around and as he spun around he would make that turn into
00:50:13powder which would be used to make bread it's where flour comes from they take the grind this
00:50:19the corn or the wheat and they would grind it into powder which is that's what it is well instead of
00:50:26using an ox they use samson and he's walking around blind doing that so what happens um go down
00:50:33to verse 25 and it came to pass when their hearts were married they said call for samson that he may
00:50:39make a sport and they called for samson out of the prison house and he made them sport and they set him
00:50:45between the pillars and samson said in the lab laden to him held my him by the hand suffer me that i may
00:50:52feel the pillars whereupon the house stand so if you think about this you see these big pillars that's
00:50:58holding up a lot of people holding up something and he's telling this boy to put his two hands on
00:51:04each pillar so he's got one hand on this pillar and one hand on this pillar
00:51:08now the house was full of men and women and the lords and philistines were there and there were upon
00:51:13the roof about three thousand men and women that beheld while samson made sport so they're laughing at
00:51:20samson ha ha ha our god the god dagon which is the fish god they're laughing at samson they think
00:51:27that their god is you know taking him and basically look at 28 and samson called unto the lord and
00:51:35said oh lord god remember me i pray thee and strengthen me i pray thee only this once oh god
00:51:41that i may be at once avenged the philistines for my two eyes and samson took hold of the two made
00:51:49middle pillars and upon them which the house stood which was born of and one on his right and one on
00:51:54his left samson said let me die with the philistines and he bowed himself with all his might
00:52:00and the house fell upon the lord upon all the house that were therein so the dead which he slew
00:52:05at his death were more than they were slew in his life god used him because it says he judged israel for
00:52:1420 years and there's more times that you see where god found favor on him even though he was a murderer he's
00:52:22a thief he's a gambler he's an arsonist he's adulterer he deceived his wife all these things
00:52:28and then he he violated the nashrite law because before that what did he do he ate honey out of a
00:52:35dead line he wasn't supposed to do that he violated that god still found favor you see samson uh talking
00:52:43about the the glory of the lord the strength of the lord being upon him well you don't do that if you're
00:52:48unsaved god doesn't do that he don't put his glory he don't put his power the power of the holy spirit
00:52:54the fullness of him if he's not saved and guess what here's another example he killed himself
00:53:01i mean you ask people hey what is the unpardonable sin and the catholics will tell you it's suicide
00:53:07but here's a good example samson he killed himself no doubt he knew when he pushed those things down it
00:53:13was going to kill him you can't say any otherwise and he i believe you'll see samson in heaven when
00:53:19you die and look at what he did a murderer a thief gambler he killed 30 men just for their clothes he
00:53:28stole their clothes he burned down the fields he was adulterer he slept with a harlot a prostitute
00:53:34all this stuff but god used him he's still using the next person's david he's a murderer and adulterer
00:53:42uh we don't have time to go there but you go to second samuel 11 where it talks about david
00:53:46looking on uh basheba wanting her and they said hey she's already married to uriah and he says find
00:53:57her anyway he sleeps with her he gets her pregnant she has a baby and then guess what happened seven
00:54:03days later the baby dies and then what and and he kills and and he don't i'm sorry let me back up
00:54:11they find out that she's pregnant so what does he do he invites uriah back and he wants her him to
00:54:17lay with her and he says i'm not gonna lay with my wife when all my soldiers are out there in the
00:54:21tents i'm not going to stay here with her he gets him drunk try to do it he still doesn't do it so now
00:54:27that uriah is not laid with his wife and he's been at battle for all these months he realizes uh-oh
00:54:34somebody's going to know something they're going to see me together with her so what does he do he has
00:54:38uriah killed he puts him on the front lines the most dangerous battle and he kills him murder and
00:54:43adultery but you know what jesus is known as what the father i just want to show you this one thing
00:54:51go to first samuel 13 what kind of regard god had for david even from the beginning
00:54:58right after he asked uh king saul because he violated his law look at uh first samuel 13 13
00:55:11and samuel said to saul that has done foolishly that has not kept the commandment of the lord thy
00:55:16god which command thee for now would the lord have to establish the kingdom upon israel forever but now
00:55:22the kingdom shall not continue the lord has sought him a man after his own heart now david he's a
00:55:30murderer and adulterer and god considers him to be after his own heart the lord has commanded him to be
00:55:36captain over his people because thou has not kept that which the lord commanded thee uh go to acts 13
00:55:52good acts 13 verse uh starting verse 21 this is uh um this is where stephen is talking about what's
00:56:03happening in the bible and he's telling these jews right before they kill him the good act uh i'm
00:56:07sorry this is not it that's chapter seven somebody's going through the history of what happens paul's
00:56:13talking about the history of what happened to the jews he's talking to the jews he's trying to explain who
00:56:18david was and jesus look at acts 13 21 and afterward they desired a king god gave unto them saul the son
00:56:25of sis we just saw that man of travel benjamin by the space of 40 years and when he had removed him
00:56:31he raised up them david to be their king to whom he also gave testimony and said i have found david the
00:56:39son of jesse a matter a man after my own heart which shall fulfill all my will of this man
00:56:46seed have god according to his promise raised unto israel a savior jesus
00:56:54so he's saying david he holds david in such a high regard a man after his own heart that
00:57:01jesus christ is going to come of the seed of david that's what you constantly see they call jesus the
00:57:07son of david and he says why do you call me son and you know the son of david when it when david calls
00:57:14mean lord and they can't answer it that the city of david is known of where jesus is at constantly
00:57:22you see david being held in high regard because of that go to romans 8 and let's wrap this up
00:57:31what is the point of the sermon what the title of the sermon is god uses bad people and of course we're
00:57:38all sinners we've all come short of the glory of god if you lie one time you will not deserve heaven
00:57:45if you do one sin you don't deserve heaven because you have to be like christ and the only way you can
00:57:51be like christ is either never sin ever which nobody's going to do or you have to put on the righteousness
00:57:59of jesus christ to be like that look at romans 8 28 and we know that all things work together for good
00:58:11to them that love god to them who are called according to his purpose so the bible is telling
00:58:18us that we know that every single thing from genesis of revelation is in god's plan people like to mock
00:58:26dad's oh you tell me it's god's plan that my this person in my life dies because of cancer yeah that's
00:58:32what i'm telling i don't know the plan we don't know the plan you don't know the plan you may never
00:58:37know the plan until you get to heaven there's a plan you can bet your bottom dollar that's something
00:58:43that happens to somebody maybe it's because they're in sin and you don't know it and god's trying to bring
00:58:50them down to a point to where he looked they look up to him let's keep reading to his purpose not your
00:58:58purpose not my purpose make sure you understand that if it was our purpose it would be a disaster
00:59:06we got to understand was it his purpose that jacob take over esau i don't know was it his purpose that
00:59:13he deceives his father no but god made it into something else was it was it abraham was it god's
00:59:18purpose that abraham to sleep with hagar to have uh to have ishmael probably not but god still made it
00:59:28happen his purpose for whom he did foreknow now the foreknowledge is is that p who he knows is going to be
00:59:38saved he knows that just know that he knows that some if somebody is going to believe on the lord jesus
00:59:47christ he also did predestinate predestinate to what to be conformed to the image of his son he
00:59:54basically said at beginning before genesis 1 1 if you believe on the lord and you put your trust on
00:59:59the lord and his righteousness your predestination is set to heaven that's what that means don't be
01:00:07all goofy with the calvinist that says predestinate predestinate just means it's like if you go in your
01:00:12car and you put a destination into your gps and it says heaven then the way you may go to heaven is
01:00:19not the same way that other people do uh the same let me let me back up the same way to heaven that you
01:00:25go to heaven is the same way as by believing on the lord jesus christ but your journey to get there may
01:00:30be different it may take longer you may have to get to that point a different way but the destination is
01:00:36still there if you believe in the lord jesus christ and at the destination to be conformed to the image of his son
01:00:45that the day that jesus christ comes in the clouds our dead body is going to raise to the ground from the
01:00:51grave and it's going to look just like jesus christ that he might be the firstborn among all brethren
01:00:58moreover he did predestinate them he also called what what did he call him to do and whom he
01:01:06called he also justified who he justified he also glorified he's saying look when you have been
01:01:12predestinated and you're saved he has a job for you to do your job's not my job our jobs are not the
01:01:19same that's what called means not that he called them to be saved he had to know first for knowledge
01:01:27that they were saved to have a job for them for shall we say to these things if god be for us who can
01:01:33be against us he that spared not his own son but delivered him must all how shall he not with him
01:01:41freely give us all things he's saying look god the father did not spare his own son jesus christ and if
01:01:48he went to that extent to save us we have to understand that god's got something great and stored for us
01:01:55who shall lay all things as charged as god elect it is god that justifies who is he that condemneth it
01:02:03is christ that died yea rather that is risen again who is even at the right hand of god who also make
01:02:10us intercession for us who shall separate us from the love of christ shall tribulation
01:02:16or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword it is written for thy sake we are
01:02:25all killed all the day long we're accounted for a sheep for the slaughter nay in all these things we
01:02:30are more than conquerors through him that love us for i'm persuaded that neither death nor life nor
01:02:37angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor death nor any
01:02:43other creature shall be able to separate from us the love of god which is in christ jesus our lord
01:02:49and the thing i want you to see through this whole sermon is that there's people that the world would
01:02:56think are bad people i mean i'm telling you if you would just go out and ask 10 people whether they're
01:03:02saved or not and you say hey what do you think about these people they're murder oh that murder he can't be
01:03:09saved adulterer drunk gambler all these different people that have done these things but god sound found
01:03:23fit to use them because he uses imperfect people he uses people that have problems and the thing i want
01:03:30you to get out of all this the first thing is have you put your trust in jesus's righteousness not your
01:03:37righteousness not repenting of your sins not thinking cause you come to church or read your bible
01:03:41that you're being saved if the answer is yes and you believe that the next thing i want to do is take
01:03:47your two fingers and put it right here feel something if you can't feel the pulse maybe you just don't know
01:03:53what it is just ask yourself raise your hand if you're alive are you alive raise your hand okay if you're
01:03:59alive you're alive raise your hand if you raise your hand as long as you're alive god's got something for you
01:04:06to do i don't know what it is it may be to finish raising your children it may be finished raising
01:04:11your grandchildren it may be for something you to do it may be for you to be something to somebody
01:04:16maybe one other person out there that you're to give the gospel to would be an example to i don't know
01:04:22but i will tell you make sure you understand that all these imperfect people they had a job to do
01:04:28they were wicked in man's eyes but god used them you need to understand wherever you're at
01:04:35whether you're prison whether you're at home whatever if you are saved and you still have
01:04:40a pulse god has a purpose for you i don't know what it is like i said it may be raising children
01:04:47it may be to get somebody saved it may be an example whatever it is god's got a purpose and
01:04:52we need to understand that and we need to try to find out what it is and do that and not give up it's
01:05:00not time to give up it's the time to strengthen ourselves and go and try to finish god's will
