To the Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal.

Where Jaden Mills two finals and silver medal in the men's 50M Freestyle probably took a toll on him today.

As the 17 year-old could only produce sixth place finish in his 50M Backstroke Heat, stopping the clock in a time of 28.03 seconds.

Transcript
00:00Jaden Mills started his day with clear signs of promise as he broke his personal best,
00:05swimming 23.46 seconds to finish third in his heat in the men's 50-meter freestyle.
00:10And the 17-year-old had the commentator's attention as he swam to another personal best,
00:16dipping under 23 seconds to grab silver behind the winner from Czechia.
00:21Oh, it's a brilliant start from both Lagutis and Jaden Mills alongside him with Trinidad
00:24and Tobago. The underwaters though will be good, but once Prokoska gets into his stroke,
00:28he'll be very difficult to catch, and already he's out in front over 25 meters.
00:33Eric Courts is having a battle to get himself back into this race, and as things stand,
00:36it is Prokoska who is leading the way. Lagutis a little way back now.
00:40Jaden Mills is set to get onto the podium here. This is brilliant from Prokoska, 22.54,
00:45takes the gold medal superbly, but brilliant for Jaden Mills as well. It's a silver medal for Trinidad
00:51and Tobago, and for Jaden Mills, Jaden Mills, Trinidad and Tobago have got a very strong
00:58swimming pedigree, but Jaden Mills goes sub 23 seconds for the first time,
01:03and he takes silver behind Jdenik Prokoska of Czechia, 22.54.
01:08And Mills had just under an hour to get ready for the men's 50-meter butterfly final.
01:13That's after he won his heat to book his spot in the final with another personal best,
01:17and the fourth fastest time of 24.79 seconds. But the Tennessee-based student just missed out on his
01:24second podium finish, touching the wall, fourth in the final.
01:29Mills gets off to an exceptional start. He's got a really good underwater, but the best of the
01:32underwater is fantastic streamline and wonderful kick as well from Zain Ali. He gets himself out in
01:38front in the early stages, and there's effectively no catching this man when he gets going. But going
01:43really nicely in two is Eric Coetzer. Can he push for a middle at a place here? The South African
01:48is
01:48fading. It's Zain Ali who's going to go all the way to the wall, and he'll be a double champion
01:52here,
01:5324.06. Caught between strokes at the wall. He is champion, but it is Kalan who's on the podium with
02:01Silva, and Lagutis, I think, has got the bronze just ahead of Jaden Mills. Zain Ali of Egypt, 24.06.
02:07He takes it by half a second effectively from Alexei Kalan. Now touches Lagutis by three hundredths of a
02:14second. Jaden Mills fourth. Earlier TNT's Brianna Belma made her mark in the women's 50-meter freestyle
02:20as she won her heat in 27.85 seconds, but still missed out on a spot in the finals based
02:26on qualifying times.
02:32Faith Jeffery as well goes for St. Lucia. It's a really good swim, though, from Latvia's Cusino goes
02:40in two. Cusino looking really strong. Brianna Belma, though, is showing some speed in the middle.
02:46Jaden Yankee has some work to do. The Ghanaian who's having a good meet so far, and Faith Jeffery
02:52is showing some speed in lane three. This thing stands, though. It's very tight in the closing
02:57stage. It's Belma Yankee, and in the end it is Belma only just from Chesnokova of Kazakhstan.
