Zachary Anthony and Marena Martinez swam away with the top awards competing at the Subway Maracas Open Water Swim Meet. Both athletes won the 3000 and 5000 meter distances. It's a great sign of form for the athletes who also won gold medals at the CARIFTA Open Water Swim meet.

00:08However, it was Marlins swimmer Zachary Anthony who took the top spots in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meter races.
00:16He was pleased with the outcome.
00:17The 5K was nice. Keep it smooth. Try to do my best time.
00:21Actually, no, I didn't try to do my best time. I just swam.
00:24But what I wanted to do was be at least one length in front of everybody, including Isaiah Alexander, my friend.
00:33And for the 3K, it was harder, especially with the lactic acid in my arms and my legs.
00:39But also the razor were rough. But I, you know, persevered and came home with the two goals.
00:46He indicated it was more challenging to swim the Maracas meet as compared to the Karifta open water meet.
00:52Shagramas is definitely calmer. And also I had a lot more competition because I had my friends from away coming down,
01:00like from Cayman Islands and Bahamas and Guadalupe and all that.
01:03But my experience was nice because, you know, home field, I did what I can and I came first.
01:10On the girls' side, Marina Martinez came out on top in a time of 51 minutes, 56 seconds in the 3,000 meter race
01:17and a one hour, 16 minutes, 59 seconds in the 5,000 meter race.
01:22The 5K was a very interesting race because I competed with the, I was mostly with the boys and I tried my best to stay with them and I did.
01:31And the 3K was also a good race because the water was rough and I still managed to stay and I ended up coming out and doing my best and in my best time.
01:40The 1,000 meter adult race was won by Dante and Gianna Pecari respectively, while Julius Enald and Zahara Anthony won the 1,000 meter race for the youths.
