A chaconia Gold medal for the Trinbago Knight Riders team and the renaming of the Sangre Grande Multi Sport Facility to the Keshorn Walcott were just some of the big awards announced by Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Pesad-Bissessar today at the Diplomatic Center.

00:00Now the question was always going to be how will the Prime Minister reward Jareem Richards and Kishon Walcott?
00:06Well, she answered that question today.
00:08The Sangre Grandi Sporting Facility is now the Kishon Walcott Multi-Purpose Sporting Facility
00:12and the Prime Minister indicated that he will be getting $500,000.
00:17How did he feel about that?
00:19Kishon, I don't know if you win another gold medal again.
00:22What are they going to rename after you?
00:25Prime Minister's house?
00:27The country.
00:27I mean, I mean, it's a great honor, you know.
00:33I think I'm at this stage in my career where I try to build my legacy, you know,
00:39what I will be remembered for because medals are one thing,
00:42but then the impact you have on the country and the world is something else.
00:47So, like, even yesterday I was speaking to my manager and we were saying that,
00:53you know what, one of the main things right now is missing is like that one throw.
00:57That is actually going to make you re-remembered for, you know, in terms of business.
01:02So, like, that is the goal right now.
01:05So, you're looking to break the world record?
01:07Oh, no, I did not say that.

01:10But I am looking to throw far.
01:12Like, next year's goal is to throw far.
01:15You may know or may not that being a sport ambassador will entitle you to the grant of a diplomatic passport,
01:22of course, subject to due diligence by the authorities.
01:25So, you will be able to travel in and out.
01:28And we hope that you will be working not just here.
01:31You've made the entire curriculum proud as well.
01:33As for Jareem Richards, who won silver at the World Championships,
01:37she indicated that they will be sticking within the guidelines of the sporting policy.
01:41And Jareem is looking at me.
01:43Yes, Jareem, we also have something for you.
01:46Silver medalist, according to the Cabinet policy, you will receive $250,000.
01:51$250,000 for making us proud.
01:57And you're very young, so I know there's much more that can come to you.
02:01Minister and I will work it out and discuss with you.
02:04Meantime, TKR's captain, Nicholas Puran, and player of the tournament, Karen Pollard,
02:09were named support ambassadors and given diplomatic passports.
02:13For your captain, the not-so-young but-young Nicholas Puran,
02:18we will also make you a sport ambassador and grant you a diplomatic passport
02:24so that you can go and come and represent Trinidad and Tobago.
02:34So, you have captained the team to this fifth CPL title.
02:39And these are some of the honors that we have for your team and for you.
02:42And, of course, we'll have further discussions with the Ministry of Sport.
02:45Again, we will want to ask you all, both the players and the backup teams,
02:51to ask you all to help us to mentor the youth.
02:55So, we also want to name Karen Pollard a sport ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago.
03:05Karen Pollard has made us proud regionally and internationally,
03:11which is cricketing ability, especially in the Indian Premier League in India.
03:17Puran was pleased with the award.
