00:00Trinidadian Roy George told TV6 News he was visiting Tobago when he was mauled by a number of dangerous dogs
00:09in the Buku area.
00:10Mr. George said he was walking along Battery Street, Buku, when he was suddenly attacked by the dogs on the
00:17morning of June 22nd.
00:20When I look on my left, I saw the dogs coming past, the coconut tree coming there at me.
00:25I back into this tree, I break a branch, right, and I start thinking them up, and all here, where
00:32I'm standing, they start biting me up here.
00:35Then I get up, I fight all till I reach across here. After I reach here, I walk to the
00:40green plant.
00:41Mr. George said he was surrounded by the dogs and bitten to his neck, ankle, hands, chest, and head.
00:49He said he became fearful for his life.
00:52They come at my neck. They ain't bite nowhere else down here. It's only because I was fighting them off
00:57like that, you know.
00:59They jump at my neck, so I'm fighting them all the way. And if I didn't fight them, and I
01:04did only fall, I know, for sure, I know I wouldn't have been here.
01:07One neighbor along Battery Street where the incident occurred said the dogs are dangerous and have previously bitten other persons
01:16in the area.
01:17One is a big one, like a coat, and that's the big and ferocious one.
01:23The dog also bit him, my son, and they have to have it on a big chain, like a cow.
01:32It's a big, and the dog is really ferocious.
01:34A brown pit bull and a black one, the other brown dog with the goli.
01:39How do you feel about these dogs?
01:42They are terrifying. They are terrifying, right? They are really terrifying.
01:48Mr. George told TV6 News he spent three days at the Scarborough General Hospital and since then has been unable
01:56to work.
01:57The nurses, I will say thanks to the nurses who look around me because everyone that came on duty and
02:05changed, they come and they spoke to me very good, which made me feel more comfortable.
02:12George said the matter has since been reported to the Chauvin Road Police and he wants the law enforced.
02:19The dangerous dogs were in their kennels at the time of our visit.
02:23According to the Dangerous Dog Act 17-1, where a dangerous dog injures a person, the owner or keeper of
02:32the dog commits an offense and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $100,000 and imprisonment for
