00:42of a buffer just under three seconds from his teammate lando norris so he can maybe hang it
00:49out just a little bit longer and still do an extra lap on the intermediate tires or
00:54the slicks in maybe three laps time going to be that much significantly faster if you get if you
01:00get out on the slicks you might go 10 seconds faster to be honest i don't think any gap any
01:06intervals enough if somebody really aces it and gets out there absolutely at the right moment on
01:12the right tires ted do you know i think i think yuki might give it a go red bull uh uh readying some
01:20some pit guns in the pit lane maybe science will give it a go uh martin i know what you say about
01:26the time but you lose 19 20 seconds making a pit stop and what have we've only got seven eight laps
01:31left six six ten yeah right now go on carlos do it do it but if you couldn't as i say if you get in
01:43and you and the slicks you can fire the slicks up you will you can find you you'll you'll recover your
01:49pit stop in within two laps easy but who wants to take that gamble as george russell runs very wide
01:56who wants to be the first to blink it's it's a really tough call this one as to whether you just
02:01hang it out and wait for the others but i think if i was somewhere nine tenth like the racing bulls

02:26as you can see and to the extent that that's slowing alex albon down i've got a lot more

02:36teammate kimmy antonelli as well on board with alex album bit of history for alex albon and lewis
02:43hamilton isn't it when album was a red bull driver uh and lewis was at mercedes they managed to meet in
02:50the middle a few times sao paulo and austria as well and critically for alex albon as well cost
02:56him dearly tracks dry enough now for drs as well it's just been enabled by race control that will
03:02help alex albon he gets three uh doses of drs throughout the lap if you're within one second
03:07of the car in front he's definitely uh that so it looks like they're going to try and hang on to it
03:12doesn't hang on hang on to the end was that a and that was an aston martin looking for a wedded part
03:18of the racetrack it's got in close and slick copy and i'm told red bull are coming out into uh the pit
03:27lane ted kravitz yuki sunoda's coming in yeah yeah i thought that was the the right thing to do if you're
03:33max verstappen you're already p3 you don't want to throw away those solid points but yuki sunoda this is
03:38absolutely worth it it's the medium tire for what it's worth crofty let's watch yuki go yeah and the
03:45intermediates that came off look possibly horrible yeah so um they'll be watching his sector times
03:51very closely on all the pit wall stands to see as he goes on this outlab whether sunoda's got to get
03:58some temp they come out of the blankets at 70 they're probably 50 or 60 degrees the time you get to the
04:03end of the pit lane he's got to build up some temperature and presumably it should take
04:08off he was yuki sunoda 37 seconds behind the lead when he made his uh pit stop this is ollie bearman
04:15down the inside on pierre gasly bearman with more passes on track this season than any other driver
04:22and there's another one uh to add to the locker book uh for the young man from uh chelmsford bearman so far
04:29this year has picked up what 29 passes and norris has just found a half second on his teammate on this
04:35lap so far as they're out front reasonably comfortably the two mclarens and uh was that
04:42little dummy there dummy there for max verstappen lewis hamilton inside the box yeah i think that's a
04:47no-brainer for lewis he looks like he's got zero grip out there and some socks going on they should fire
04:53up a little bit earlier and we have in the pits then lewis hamilton so it takes lewis hamilton out of the
04:59points ferrari making the gamble that's in the next six laps others might just pit and hamilton might
05:06have enough pace to get back into it and he's put soft tires on strollers also pitted science has also
05:13pitted as uh through goes bortoletto sunoda's just coming around the final corner now he was the first
05:20one to pit four slick tires hamilton will come out just ahead of gabriel bortoletto
05:27on the track bortoletto goes around the outside yeah lewis has got to find out how much grip he's
05:31got instead of 2.0 stop there for hamilton but it looked longer than that but um he'll be feeling a
05:37lot of grip straight away on board with lando norris and we mentioned that he's just taken a bit of a
05:43chunk out of his teammates lead he's taken an even bigger chunk on this lap out of his teammates lead
05:48and has now got him to within a second of oscar piastri lando norris is finding grip at the moment
05:55and pace at the moment where oscar piastri is not three tenths in the middle sector seven tenths in
06:01the first sector on this lap 12 of 18. and lando still looking fun a nice wet bit over there because
06:08he had drs down that straight as well and very much now menacing in the mirrors of oscar piastri
06:16well watch this battle and lewis hamilton on the soft tires too so sunoda nearly two seconds a lap
06:22faster in the first sector alone it's time for slicks who is brave enough to put the slicks on who
06:28might want to hang it out verstappen's coming in uh to the pits and there is a double yellow flag being
06:34waved uh as well out on the track antonelli is also in the pits ted oh there's contact in the pit lane
06:41between verstappen and antonelli ted yeah this crash that was always going to happen when we're at red
06:46bull released verstappen into the path of antonelli he's wiped out his front wing it's not enough to end
06:52verstappen's race antonelli continued through that's the first time that's the definition of unsafe release
06:58what were red bull thinking uh yeah big contact that will definitely go to the stewards lots of
07:03drivers now pitting carlos sainz going very slowly on the track i think that was the cause that is
07:09the cause of that double waved yellow i mentioned he's hit the wall after changing tires and going
07:14on to the slicks and that's another car being driven in an unsafe condition that maybe should have
07:20stopped before now will we get a safety car is there debris coming off and there's a battle for the
07:25lead going on and there's debris all over the track piastri had to take avoiding action through
07:30that chicane to avoid the debris the problem mclaren i got is double stacking now it's going to hurt
07:36norris horribly they've really but they've got to react they've got to react but what's helping them
07:40now is of course verstappen's issue and that's that now what do they do what do they do they're going
07:46to flip the coin but should they bring them both in it feels to me they've got to put slicks on both
07:51those mclarens now sunoda up to 14th hamilton up into the points is eighth mclaren waiting for
07:59at least one of their drivers and it's oscar piastri that comes in and lando norris continues
08:05on his way so the race leader gets the change of tires norris on his way now whether that was
08:14a team decision or lando norris said he wanted to carry on we will find out carlos sainz is back to the
08:20pits out of this race as out onto the track goes oscar piastri and where will he be when he comes out
08:27onto the track second piastri leading therefore he got first service this is going to hurt lando norris
08:33an extra lap on the wet tires um let's see if he can get in and get out and still stay somewhere
08:40around the russell battle lewis hamilton is now the fastest man on the track uh fernando alonso pits
08:49uh from uh the points hamilton all over the a lot of debris a lot of debris in the chicane
08:56yeah there's a lot you can't avoid it it's all over the track 10 13 40.
09:01well lando norris i'm sure would like a safety car here but i'm not surprised he's saying that because
09:05you could see the debris when oscar piastri went off the track under pressure from norris
09:10on the previous lap well of course the safety car would play beautifully into lando's hands right
09:14now and that that's what he's up to there calling for that there's lewis hamilton making another move
09:20this time on max verstappen he is up into third verstappen with damage on his car you can see
09:26front wing end plate on the left hand side is completely gone crowd going wild they've loved that
09:30move and race control have noted that unsafe release between uh verstappen and antonelli so
09:36finally then norris gets to come in the pit lane and uh will he be able to get out in front of the
09:42hamilton verstappen battle he should be able to another double waved yellow is uh being waved for and
09:50that is why fernando alonso has now hit the wall and that might be safety car or definite safety car or
09:56even a red flag in this race norris is coming out piastri's making his way around the final corner
10:03now but the safety car has reduced the speed and that has given lando norris the lead of this race
10:10second year running in miami safety car at just the right time for lando norris it was a bit late for
10:15him but it was okay he's getting let him get out of the pit lane i wonder if we're gonna have to red flag
10:21this there's a lot of car parts and car all over the racetrack in a quite a critical place there for
10:28fernando alonso what will they do but yes it was just enough time for norris to pootle down the pit
10:35lane and not lose out to his teammate flat out down the pit lane because he had to be restricted to safety
10:41car speeds so lando norris leads this race from oscar piastri from lewis hamilton made his way up into
10:49the third from max verstappen and alex albon in fifth the stewards are investigating verstappen
10:57for an unsafe release into the path of kimmy antonelli the pole sitter who's now running down
11:02in 11th place george russell is sixth ahead of lance stroll and liam lawson that is the top eight
11:11we could yet finish behind the safety car i think if there's no red flag we will finish behind the safety
11:16car yeah and i think they'll want to do that and get the race done um with qualifying coming up but uh
11:24wow it all happened in a hurry didn't it certainly did let's have a look and see what happened here
11:29we're on board with carlos science this was the first of the double wave yellows uh that we saw and
11:34we know that carlos science is going to hit the wall just where is he going to hit the wall oh clips it on the
11:40inside oh that was clumsy just have a another look off board just fraction misjudgment and he's
11:51clips it on the inside and the left rear taking the punishment so that's that's where a lot of the
11:56debris that's lando was talking about has come from that carlos science incident it's raining confetti
12:03carbon fiber up there and um yeah but then what's so that's the science recovering and you're not
12:11really allowed to do that as we saw earlier on it's like a polo mint and the rear tire heading off
12:16so 10 second time penalty for max verstappen for what we're about to see here which is piling straight
12:23into the side of the mercedes and that meant then that antonelli couldn't pit didn't get in his pit
12:34absolutely so he couldn't take the change of tires so you don't what red bull's pit stops in bahrain and
12:45here sadly lacking in coordination me man you did young man you did a brilliant job to avoid that
12:54because yeah that would have spun him into a load of mechanics and he had to stay on the intermediate
12:59tires that's how fernando alonso got punted around uh by the racing bull of liam lawson yeah and i
13:06would imagine alonso and aston martin would want to say a few things about that as well yeah i think
13:11liam lawson might uh have some problems there when their stewards get hold of that one because
13:17he was off the racing track that's a front wing that's mangled let alone damaged so there's lost on
13:25the outside alonso's got the corner so to me lawson's obliged to back out of that a little bit
13:33because he's off that he's off the track anyway and alonso's ahead of him yeah oh poor fernando
13:40alonso on course for a points finish for the first time this season uh that is not going to
13:44happen zach brown's with us on the pit wall uh what is it about lando norris and safety cars in
13:49miami they seem to be happy bedfellows there zach yeah that got exciting there um so uh yeah both
13:55our cars are looking strong i'd be surprised if we get restarted but let's see yeah and you've got
14:01uh verstappen in fourth but with it carrying now a 10 second penalty as well your major rival in the
14:06championship at the moment zach so it's played out very nicely for you out from so far so good but
14:13as we can see anything can happen two laps to go so uh let's see if they get this thing restarted or
14:18not yeah i'm i'm kind of with you with recovery vehicles on the track and only two laps to go i
14:24can't see his restarting oh man i don't know what to say don't swear to kimmy don't sweat it but uh
14:29give me a few years ago yeah fair point thanks ever so much zach and we'll be back with you for
14:38qualifying and for the race tomorrow as well you've got a feel for kimmy antonelli here max max gets a
14:4510 second uh penalty that's no crumb of comfort to this man's race no and thank goodness he saw it he
14:51saw it unfolding he couldn't have had much of a view of that for because of the red bull mechanics
14:57um and he he saw it reacted instinctively otherwise he'd have been turned around into his pit crew
15:03and and we're not blaming max verstappen for this by the way great job in a piss
15:07guys mega job yeah it was mega yeah hamilton was one of the early stoppers and it has really really
15:12invigorated his race yeah we're not blaming max verstappen when the green light goes as a racing
15:18driver martin you you go you shouldn't have been released you can't you you're surrounded by your
15:23own team there's nobody can look in your mirrors and go i think it's okay or i'll just check they
15:27say that they say i can go you are 100 reliant upon your team to let you know when to drop the
15:33clutch you you can't put any other factor into that ted down to you so of course they have in this uh
15:39pit stop traffic light system they have an override uh for exactly this instance if there's
15:45someone else coming down the chief mechanic or or used to be the lolly pot man can override
15:50the green light keep it red which of course is what they should have done it seemed to me he had a
15:54clear line of sight he could see behind him the red bull guy that the mercedes guys were out we could
15:59all see mercedes were bringing one of their guys in and it seemed like he had a clean line of sight
16:04the only thing i can think is was there a malfunction with this earlier in the season uh crofty and
16:09wasn't it blamed or weren't they looking at these pit stop traffic lights and it was the one there
16:15you go is that rich wilverson i think closest to us who's the man who's taken over from jonathan
16:19jonathan wheatley uh it is rich wilverson yeah so uh he'll be wanting to know exactly what happened
16:26there uh well quite because it's only cost their own it's only hurt them themselves yeah it's hurt
16:31there and it's hurt someone else and it could have really hurt some of the crews so the staff has got
16:36a 10 second penalty for unsafe release and what about piastri uh no nothing for him usual term one
16:44good to know well it's the driving standards guidelines have changed slightly for this year
16:52so that if you as you mentioned martin if you're alongside the you you've got to the the the the
16:58mirror of the guy on your outside then you have the right for that corner as long as you are going
17:03to make that corner and oscar piastri was it's a change for 2025 and presumably we're going to go
17:08across to the finish here aren't we yeah it's a change no we're on 17 so um yeah it's a change for
17:152025 that uh before um you had to give the driver on the outside racing room which pretty much guaranteed
17:23you on the inside you were too tight you you couldn't so now it's if you get up the inside you and you're
17:29out ahead of their mirror at the apex it's up to the driver on the outside to yield you're no longer
17:35obliged to give him racing room in jeddah i think it was unquestional uh the unquestioned that piastri
17:43had that advantage here i think it was a bit touch and go rosé one of 17 artists on the f1 the movie
17:52soundtrack album which has been released this week gets ready to wave the checkered flag waving it for
17:58lando norris if lando norris it's only a point he gains on oscar piastri if he wanted anything from
18:04this sprint race it was to get back and have something go his way and something to make him
18:10smile and and cheer him on his way for the next part of the weekend yeah and the bad news for red bull
18:15and max is that with that with the pack also tight like this it'll cost him he'll be out of the point
18:21with 10 second penalty with the pack all uh nose to tail final sprint races final two sprint races in
18:272024 we're a one two for mclaren we're going to get a one two for mclaren here lewis hamilton will uh pick
18:36up his second best finish for ferrari his two best finishes for ferrari coming uh in the sprint races
18:43philando norris the disco glitter ball helmet has been debut for this week and this race spun around
18:52in two dramatic laps with carlos sainz hitting the wall fernando alonso hitting the wall a safety car
19:00coming out after his teammate oscar piastria pitted out came the safety car just in the nick of time
19:06for the speed of the track to slow down and lando to rejoin in the lead well who says they don't like
19:13sprint races i love us i love a sprint weekend there's always something going on and that was
19:19a cracker wasn't it i mean wow how can you fit that much action into what turned out to be an 18 lapper
19:25the hard rock stadium it's a hard luck story for the likes of piastri and the likes of antonelli it's
19:33a good news story for lando norris safety car peels away and lando norris will lead the drivers
19:41over the line as they come into view to win the miami sprints in 2025 it's norris it's piastri it's
19:50hamilton the top three alex albon with a brilliant fourth place for williams george russell finishes
19:56where he started in fifth lance stroll picks up his third points finish of the season
20:00in sixth liam lawson is back in the points in seventh and ollie behrman was there to pick up
20:05a point in eighth place ahead of yuki sunoda and kimmy antonelli the man on pole who finished 10th
20:12lawson will have to fight hard to keep that i think in with the stewards but points for him
20:18at the moment and as you can see verstappen with that that 10 second have really hurt him there
20:22cool you want water yeah lovely job well done boys and it was a no-brainer for lewis to go early as
20:32well his tires were absolutely shot through it wasn't even a gamble for them and it's worked out
20:37lewis so good in these conditions so a mclaren won to a big haul of points again for the mclaren team in
20:44the constructors championship as you say norris gains a point on piastri and they've got eight wheels on their
20:50mclaren wagons too which is helpful will fernando alonso make it into q1 qualifying for the grand
20:57prix to come later this afternoon that looks a big impact for the aston martin carlos science damage
21:04to his williams charles declare big damage to his ferrari as well their crews face a race against time
21:11to get the cars ready for the main qualifying event to come later today and just to let you know
21:17ollie behrman niko holkenberg they'll be going to see the stewards as well for a possible um uh
21:24unsafe release in the pit lane so we have the unsafe release with verstappen that has been decided
21:3010 second penalty there could be another penalty well done oscar yeah thanks i don't think i'll be
21:36buying any lottery tickets in this place save the luck for tomorrow mate because he thinks he should
21:42have won last year as well or could have won last year right absolutely uh good call strategy call
21:50for lewis hamilton and for ferrari and he would have been really interesting to see where lewis
21:56hamilton would have finished in this race had we not had the safety car and those incidents because he
22:01he was without doubt the fastest man on the track yeah norris would have got out in second place uh
22:07looking just looking at the tracker here uh ahead of that fight with uh with verstappen that hamilton
22:13was in but it would have been a lot closer lewis would have been having a good look at the back of
22:18the mclaren but piastri would have had it covered but the safety car worked really well for him it hurt
22:24him that they couldn't bring both mclarens in at the same time because they were um nose to tail they
22:30they might you might almost thought it's worth losing the four or five seconds you have to wait but
22:34then they would have cost uh lando a lot of time there but uh hey it worked out for him he rolled
22:41the dice and it worked he certainly did and don't forget he called his teammate norris caught piastri
22:46quite comfortably there didn't he so it wasn't like it was uh he didn't just reverse into that he was
22:54right on his uh teammates uh gearbox i'm not sure the stewards have got enough time in between sprint and
23:01qualified to get everything decided because alex albon has been now noted for a possible false start
23:07as well max verstappen uh was noted they investigated um unlike lando norris he he looked to be further
23:16forward but he wasn't moving um he'd actually come to he'd come to a stop but it's a safety car
23:24procedure infringement sir for alex albon and it's just been corrected on our screen he did look to be
23:30further forward but maybe as you say there was something of the tire yeah on that white line
23:35lando wasn't lando wasn't uh moving in bahrain he was just had his contact patch beyond the white line
23:43i'm not sure if it was even more than one of them but clearly max still but i make my point again if
23:50that's all right to have your contact patch on the front edge of the start box they should all do
23:55it they've got to all do it right let's hear from the top three shall we down uh on the grid uh the
24:02fans waiting to hear from lando norris oscar piastri lewis hamilton i will go down there in a moment and
24:08the uh debrief is already starting at red bull with max verstappen's manager uh raymond's and christian
24:15horner and also uh helmet marco something something not right and not functioning right with the red
24:22bull pit stops at the moment they were a bit unhappy with me something i said about the pit stops in the
24:26previous race and they have had some dramas um christian was telling me that they people weren't
24:32able for various luis i knew you were an incredible driver but you're also an amazing weatherman i remember
24:38some years in silverstone you changed the towers at the right time and today you do it again so and then
24:42the move on max fantastic how was it how you doing miami the crowd's been so great today um oh man i'm
24:53so happy with that you know it's it's been a tough year so far but to to have you know i never thought
24:59it's gonna rain in miami is the first time they've all been uh on track in the wet here and um what a
25:05what a race it it provided us so big big thank you everybody yeah that must be making feel good for
25:12qualifying in a couple of hours now you got the car underneath and understand yeah fast oh well i
25:17really really did struggle uh on the inters i think everyone was struggling on them and um
25:22i just i made that call at the end i was like i'm coming in because i was i was not i wasn't going
25:27nowhere so take the risk take the gamble and it paid off wish we had another couple laps to give
25:32these guys a bit of a fight but you know big congrats to mclaren as always congrats good job thank you
25:41uh hello oscar uh i thought you had uh you had jumped on at the start you did a fantastic start
25:52get got it under control track drive you come in first of the mclaren and pete and i thought you
25:57know you were going to score some good points to get the win today but they're still very good points
26:01but then i guess a bit unlucky was the time of the safety car yeah definitely i feel like i did uh
26:06uh pretty much everything right there so um yeah obviously a bit disappointing to come away with
26:10second but uh that's that's how it goes sometimes unfortunately racing is a pretty cool business so
26:15uh yeah hopefully that means i got a bit of luck for this afternoon and tomorrow but uh
26:19uh no another great start and uh and yeah had to get my elbows out in that one so i'm happy with what
26:25i did good yeah i guess uh and you feel good for this afternoon car feels good car is fast so it should
26:30be another shot at tomorrow to get another win yeah definitely i think uh we we had a little bit of
26:35pace on the table in in spring qualifying yesterday and hopefully we can use that for for quality this
26:40afternoon it'd be nice if the weather could make up its mind but um no been enjoying it and uh yeah i think
26:46we've got a quick car underneath this so i'll try to make it even quicker and uh and have a bit of
26:50an easier race tomorrow well good luck and uh let's watch today thank you very much cheers

27:16vegas but you have the good the good moon in miami it's a good city for you uh congrats a good race
27:21you were having fantastic pace towards the end of the inters and then i guess you thought you were
27:26not going to be the one at the best strategy but i turned out to be to be the one yeah i mean uh my
27:31luck in miami seems pretty good at the minute so i'm i'm happy uh but you know the the pace was still
27:38very good it's always just difficult these races you never know when to box you box early you know it
27:43paid off for for lewis and he had a good strategy uh or do you stay out later and maybe get the safety
27:48car you know so it's worked two years in a row um i probably would prefer if this happened tomorrow
27:52rather rather than today but i'll take it uh i'm happy a good job by the team so uh yeah it was good
27:58fun yeah fantastic job by you by the team i guess you feel super confident going into qualifying having
28:02another shot at getting paul and and hopefully tomorrow another win in miami it's a plan yeah it's a
28:08plan um but it's tricky you know there's a lot of quick guys out there and uh i felt good yesterday
28:13to be honest a couple little mistakes but i'm i'm ready to go again so excited well good luck and
