03:39Welcome to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassan.
03:45Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago, and our global viewers.
03:50It's Monday. It's also Day 85 of the State of Emergency.
03:55And of course, you recall, next Monday and Tuesday, we'll also have public holidays.
04:03And on Monday, of course, we always want to welcome Captain Valence Rambarat of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
04:10Welcome, sir. How are you?
04:11I'm fine. Thank you, Mark. Pleasant good afternoon to you and the viewership of TV6 and Beyond the Tape.
04:18It's a pleasure to be here once again.
04:20Mark, we had a tough weekend, but on Sunday, we had our annual end of hunting season cookout.
04:28What happens quickly? Let me explain. Hunters traditionally will gather and keep a few types of wild meat and then invite.
04:37Those who don't consume wild meat regularly or cannot afford it, we invite them to come and share a meal with us.
04:44That was on Sunday, and we had a really enjoyable time.
04:48But on Saturday, Mark, we were able to reunite six families with their loved ones in a positive way.
04:56And I think we had a really excellent Saturday.
05:00And I know in a short while, I'll just want to highlight three cases of those so that we can, you know, if you could get an understanding.
05:09When you hear for three and 400 business missing, you will understand why.
05:13Well, just before we actually go to that, there was a little bit of drama in the capital about an hour or one and a half ago.
05:21A lot of police officers running up Charlotte Street as they were chasing.
05:26One of my colleagues told me the express alleged car thieves.
05:30And I guess quick action by the officers. They were able to apprehend these men.
05:35So we just wanted to say kudos to those police officers this afternoon who would have responded to the call.
05:41I don't have all the particulars and would have apprehended those suspects because it created quite a commotion at the bottom of Charlotte Street.
05:49There were a lot of people were seeing police officers literally running up the street as they tried to chase.
05:56Also another vehicle, a police vehicle as well and officers.
06:00And we've seen officers taking the fight to the criminals, being present and being there.
06:06Yes, certainly. So you did say that there were three particular cases that you wanted to enlighten us on.
06:14So the first one, Mark, was a young boy. His name is Jaylon Alexander.
06:19We got a distress call first of all from the father and I needed some information, more information before we publish him.
06:26And his attorney came on the phone and then we were able to get a missing person report.
06:32But this happens from time to time when there is custody battles.
06:38Now in this case, the father prevailed and he was awarded custody of the child.
06:45And then the other party would have kept that child and not returned the child either to the father or have the child go to school.
06:54He is due to write SCA and look at the time, since the 21st of February to today, he didn't go to school.
07:03And there was more to it, you know, we needed not only to make a report to the police, but there was a lot of anxiousness as to safety.
07:13And Mark, we had to get in contact with the senior officers in the service, ECP, Richard Smith and senior superintendent, Roger Alexander.
07:26And they led an intelligence based operation to locate him. And I think that was really commendable.
07:34They understood the dangers involved. They understood everything.
07:38And we were really anxious on Saturday to have him back with his father.
07:43So that is one that does happen from time to time.
07:46And the second case I wanted to highlight is that of we had him missing up to last week, Joseph Andrews.
07:53Now it comes back, Mark, to the elderly, right? Yes. Dementia, Alzheimer's.
07:58He left his home in Arima on this first and he nobody knew where he went.
08:03His wife was very concerned. And on Carnival Monday, he was he got into a vehicle accident as a pedestrian and he lost consciousness.
08:16A lot of broken bones. And he was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital.
08:22There nobody knew who Joseph Andrews was. And until we were able to track him down at the Port of Spain General Hospital,
08:33his wife was so relieved to know, well, at least Joseph was alive.
08:38So I want to continue to highlight the case of the elderly.
08:41And this is one category of persons who go missing. We really worked hard on this case.
08:48And then the other one would have been Crystal Budu.
08:52She was reported missing. Her mental health is compromised. But listen to this.
08:58Crystal Budu or Crystal Rudolf? Crystal Rudolf. Yes.
09:01Her mental health is compromised. She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital and warded.
09:07When the relatives turned up there, they were told that she was discharged.
09:10And so they were in panic for a couple of days.
09:14And then when we got involved in the case, we were able to track her down to another hospital where she's receiving attention.
09:22So this is another type of thing that happens with missing persons.
09:26And so we want to edify the public. Not every case is one, you know, of a runaway teenager or somebody who is a victim of crime.
09:37Yes. Well, we're certainly happy that these individuals were reunited with, well, in this case, their family.
09:45And we're glad that, you know, Mr. Andrews is now back with his wife and young Gordon is back with his father.
09:52And, of course, Miss Rudolf is back with her family.
09:57All right. So it's day 85 of the state of emergency.
10:02And we just want to take you quickly to some figures.
10:06As of day 85, number of operations, 4,240. Priority offenders targeted, 3,027.
10:13Searches conducted, 29,413. Traffic operations, 3,778.
10:21Total persons arrested, 3,297. Traffic offenses detected, 14,683.
10:30Firearms recovered, 164 to date. Ammunition recovered, 3,543.
10:37Dangerous drugs seized to date, 443,856 grams of cannabis, 3,419 grams of cocaine, 80 grams of ecstasy,
10:498.8 grams of Xanax, 53.59 grams of molly, and 5 grams of crystal meth.
10:56Firearms recovered, that category going up there, 164.
11:00That one is an excellent figure.
11:02And we are hopeful that even after the state of emergency, that the police will continue to put the pressure
11:09on to redistricts of illicit firearms, drugs, and offenders that are bent on causing disruption in the society.
11:19Yeah. And I think Mark, we've seen a police service that has not reacted but been proactive, right?
11:24And I think they're meeting the criminals at a particular level.
11:27You're seeing it from the reports coming out from the police service.
11:30And they're making an impact on firearms.
11:35The seizure of cocaine, you're seeing it, the amount seized so far.
11:39So I think we're beginning to see a different style with the TTPS, and I want to congratulate them on that.
11:46Yes, certainly.
11:47All right, we're going to take a look now at our headlines.
12:04All right, those were the headlines within the last 24 hours.
12:31And we have a video here showing what happened in Maloney over the weekend.
12:38Let's take a look.
12:41So it seems that there were several individuals in this vehicle, that they came into a particular area, and the car apparently was shot up.
12:53And I think it was three young men, I remember seeing the video, being shot and wounded during the incident.
13:04Allegations, of course, of them being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
13:09But certainly, you know, gun violence again rearing its ugly head.
13:14Yeah, and young men involved with the pants just below the buttocks.
13:20And it's unfortunate that these young men were injured in this situation.
13:27Was any of them, any died in this situation?
13:30Not to my knowledge.
13:31I know there was another individual, apart from one in the car, there was another one lying on his stomach.
13:36And we probably wouldn't be able to show his face, of course, but he was lying on his stomach.
13:41Seemed to have been injured somewhere in the foot region.
13:45And he was responsive, talking to the people who came.
13:49I mean, there are allegations, of course, that they were in an area where they were not supposed to be.
13:55And there's allegations also that they were in that area, perhaps for some other ulterior motive.
14:02And I guess the police are still continuing their investigations.
14:05I see the injured are taken away in a van for treatment.
14:10I think they were taken to the Arima Hospital of Memory Services, am I right?
14:15Right. Mark, we went into a hot spot.
14:18Immediately, we were recognized.
14:20Yes.
14:21They spoke to us. They knew what we were there for.
14:23And they assisted us and we left.
14:26So they will know who coming into the area.
14:29That's one thing I learned from the incident.
14:31Recently, in terms of us being in a hot spot area.
14:35Yes, certainly.
14:36All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
14:39Stay with us.
15:02to move our vision forward.

17:53It starts here, with the Trinidad Express Newspapers.
18:09I'm your host Mark Bosan, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
18:14As we continue to just share some videos, another gun-related shooting, gun-related violence, sorry,
18:22at La Hawket Valley Road in Glendore, in the vicinity of the Playway Booth,
18:27a man was shot in his vehicle over the weekend.
18:35So yeah, apparently the individual was shot in the chest, I'm not certain of the condition of the individual,
18:42but certainly another incident here of somebody being shot, choice of weapon, a firearm.
18:49Yeah, so you can just imagine with these shootings, how many firearms are out there, illegal firearms out there,
18:55it has to be quite a lot for these shootings to occur on such a frequent basis.
19:01Yes, and we also, we've been talking about road safety over the last few weeks,
19:07and there was a road traffic accident in the Lord Street area, San Fernando, as well over the weekend.
19:15So you're seeing here, the truck, flatbed truck here, perhaps the wrecker came onto the scene,
19:25there's a police vehicle here, and I guess you're seeing, just to the right of our picture there,
19:34the accident involving at least two vehicles where police would have blocked off the area there,
19:40that's going down a hill, Lord Street, in the heart of San Fernando,
19:45so obviously somebody might have been going too fast, and ended up colliding with another vehicle.
19:55I believe there were two road accident fatalities on the weekend as well.
20:01So we have to continue to pay attention to those road accidents, the RTAs,
20:06and ask people to be cautious and practice safety while driving.
20:11Most certainly, and then there was a police led exercise from the Port of Spain City Strike Team,
20:18conducted in the Port of Spain Division between the 21st and 22nd,
20:26which led them to the arrest of one person with one round of 5.5 ammunition and 145 grams of marijuana.
20:34They also got one air rifle, as you can see from the images there, with a magazine,
20:40and 30 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were also found and seized.
20:47So the police, once again, raiding the streets of some heavy ammunition, firepower and so on,
20:55as we continue to, and there's the narcotics and so on,
21:00as we continue to try and raid the streets of all these illegal items.
21:05So heavy automatic weapons being used to protect drug dealers throughout the country,
21:11and that's the basis of the root cause for crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
21:16All right, moving on, we just wanted to get an update on the missing persons for the month of March,
21:21and let's hear what you have.
21:23Yes, Mark, we have 28 missing persons so far for the month of March,
21:28and based on quite a lot of work which we did together with the relatives and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
21:34we are now down to eight persons remaining, who remain missing for the month of March.
21:42And they are Marlon Henwood, and he was featured in your news headlines a short while ago,
21:48where the mom is making a plea.
21:51We haven't been able to locate him.
21:53His mental health is compromised.
21:56There have been reported sightings of him all over South,
22:00but none has proven to be successful in locating him.
22:06So we have to ask the public to keep a lookout for Marlon Henwood.
22:11And then we have Jamal Williams.
22:13Latest sighting is in Garnising Drive in Balmain, Cuba.
22:17So those of you from Balmain, Cuba, if you're looking at the program and you're seeing Jamal Williams around,
22:23please contact 799-1453.
22:26We know he's alive, but his relatives want him back home.
22:32And then Richard Lopez is an elderly from San Fernando, most likely dementia slash Alzheimer's,
22:42and we haven't been able to get any leads on Richard Lopez as yet.
22:47Then we have Mahindra Daniel, who was last seen in the Valencia district with a friend early on the morning of the 8th of March,
22:55and absolutely no leads on Mahindra's where he's located.
23:00So we're asking you to keep a lookout for Mahindra Daniel.
23:04Those people in the Valencia area, pay particular attention in terms of looking for Mahindra.
23:11Navarro Riley, again, an elderly person.
23:14We're very concerned about him now because he's been missing since the 7th of the 3rd.
23:20We've launched searches for him in the Cuba district.
23:25We believe now that he may have boarded a PTSC bus or something and moved out of Cuba, if no harm came to him.
23:35And then we haven't had any leads on Eric Williams from the Sandy Grande district.
23:40He is still missing since the 1st of March, and again, he's an elderly person.
23:47So you've seen the pattern there, right?
23:50Casey Smith is a repeated runaway teenager.
23:56She was last seen in the Point 14 area.
23:58So if you have information on Casey, please call the nearest police station or us at 799-145-C.
24:09We were instrumental in finding Casey the last time she went missing.
24:13And then we have a new person, Rebecca Davidson.
24:18She's from the Labre district, and we're currently gathering information to help her family to locate her.
24:25So Mark, we're down to just 8th of February, and I think as of next week.
24:30As we work on these cases, they get reduced over time.
24:34Well, we're hopeful that the persons that Captain Valens Rambrath showed on the television a short while ago,
24:43we're hopeful that we could find everyone and reunite them with their families.
24:49All right, you just want to remind everyone of the numbers to call 623-1711, extensions 1996 and 1997.
24:56We're going to take a short break, and we'll be back. Stay with us.
24:59The following is a paid political advertisement.
25:14You remember once they boasted about cutting 18,000 food guards?
25:19And they were so happy and proud to tell you they cut 18,000 people from getting their food cards.
25:25And they're coming now to cut your access to pensions and public assistance.
25:31They have laid a bill in the parliament.
25:34That bill will make it harder for pensioners and persons getting public assistance to access it.
25:41Time to rise up, TNT. Vote UNC.
25:46That was a paid political advertisement.

28:25I'm your host, Mark Bosan.
28:26Joined today by Captain Valence Ramarat of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
28:30As we continue our series, Voice of the People,
28:33getting your comments, suggestions on the crime situation.
28:37Let's take a look.
28:39♪♪♪
28:55You're a businessman and a policeman.
28:57How long now?
28:58One year.
28:59One year.
29:00Have you ever been a victim of crime or witnessed any crime?
29:03No.
29:05What are your thoughts on the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago?
29:08Very deplorable.
29:11No words to explain the pure carnage that is going on.
29:18Do you feel safe at home, on the streets, to and from work,
29:22climbing, conducting business?
29:25I let the most high God go before me.
29:29Of course, you have that fear.
29:31Every single day, I wake in the above ground.
29:33It's a fear.
29:36Right.
29:37Yeah.
29:38Have you changed the way you do things, you know,
29:41because of the crime situation?
29:43Yeah.
29:44What are some of those things you can tell us?
29:47I sleep one hour less.
29:49Mm-hmm.
29:50And I leave home a little earlier.
29:53Yeah.
29:54And I close up shop earlier.
29:57So what time you would have originally closed long time?
30:00About 7, 8 o'clock.
30:01So now you close at 6?
30:03Close at 6.
30:04Gone.
30:05Bye.
30:06Mm-hmm.
30:07Do you think there's a connection between crime and poverty in this country?
30:12No excuses for poverty and crime.
30:15They don't match.
30:16Mm-hmm.
30:17Yeah.
30:18And why?
30:19Why?
30:20Because there's no excuse for someone to actually commit a crime
30:23because he was born in poverty.
30:25You see the difference.
30:27You see the statistics.
30:29The statistics say that, you know,
30:32that people who actually work hard pull themselves up by the bootstrap
30:36and go to school and obtain a proper education with some discipline.
30:40Yeah.
30:41Well said.
30:42In your opinion, what causes a person to become a criminal?
30:48Environmental.
30:50Yeah.
30:51Friends.
30:52You know, there's a saying that there's a little boy going out.
30:56Friends take you, but they don't bring you out.
30:58And that's a true saying.
31:00Mm-hmm.
31:01Do you think that is one of the major factors?
31:03Influence.
31:04Influence, yeah.
31:05Yeah, yeah, yeah.
31:06If you saw a crime happening before your eyes, would you say something?
31:12I'd do something about it, yes.
31:15You would?
31:16Yeah.
31:17Who is one of those businessmen in the Port of Spain that, you know,
31:29closing earlier, it's not taking any chances,
31:32like many other businessmen across the country
31:35and other personnel who believe that, you know,
31:38getting out early if you're in a particular area,
31:41that they feel that there are persons looking at the activities
31:44because they're transacting business,
31:46they're collecting money every day,
31:48so they feel a sense of security by perhaps leaving earlier
31:52when it's still bright.
31:54Yeah, Mark, again, this is realistic.
31:59On Saturday, I went to the market later to get some extra stuff
32:03for our line on Sunday,
32:05and my regular market person was shutting down his stall at about 5 p.m.
32:12So I said, is this the hour you closed?
32:14No, man.
32:15He says, I have made adjustments because I am not going past 6,
32:20same time with the gentleman there.
32:22And the other thing he said is that the fear of crime,
32:27there is a fear of crime, and I think that is real,
32:31and people are concerned,
32:34and he said that anything could happen at any time,
32:38and that's a reality.
32:39That is why people have to be careful when they're out there.
32:42You know, you have some bars.
32:44You have places you have to stay away from.
32:47It's no longer safe to be out there.
32:49Yes.
32:50And then I think he hit the nail on the head,
32:54but he did say he leaves it in the hands of God,
32:58but people have to continue to be vigilant.
33:02These are realistic scenarios.
33:05These are realistic things, and they have to pay attention.
33:11Mark, one final point.
33:13You talk about the environment being a causal factor in persons going into crime.
33:20That I agree with, not the fact and the link between poverty and crime,
33:24but that environment in which you grow up with,
33:27because you know your life really becomes a habit.
33:30You kind of mimic others.
33:32Yes.
33:33Right?
33:34We are animals like that.
33:35We mimic others, and we look at behavior and mimic it,
33:38and it becomes normalized,
33:40and really that's the truth about crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
33:45Yes, and I agree with you.
33:47It's extremely important as well that we as citizens of this country
33:52also try to take certain precautions
33:56and try to safeguard not only ourselves,
33:59but our friends and our family
34:02so that everybody could feel a sense of security.
34:06And I know it's easier said than done,
34:08but sometimes we have to be the change that we want to see in the country
34:13before we rely just on the police or the personnel.
34:17Yes, and he also spoke about being in Port of Spain for one year,
34:21and he hasn't had an incident of robbery,
34:24so I say that is noteworthy,
34:27because Port of Spain is one of the hot areas in terms of crime.
34:33So he has done well in terms of being safe for a year in his business.
34:38But he has a skill.
34:40That's cooking food and selling food,
34:43and we all have a way to make money.
34:45He says pull up your bootstraps,
34:49get down there, get your education,
34:52burn the midnight oil,
34:55and you will get something worthy to do
34:59that will earn you much more cash sometimes
35:02or much more useful cash
35:04than entering into a pathway of crime.
35:08And that one is a dead end.
35:10We know that now.
35:11You're seeing these young men being shot all over the place,
35:15not being murdered.
35:16That is a better pathway for you to take
35:19than going down a life of crime.
35:22So it's not poverty.
35:24It is a choice.
35:25Yeah, as you raise that particular aspect of murders and so on,
35:32the corresponding period last year up to this time,
35:36we had 107 murders,
35:38according to the TGPS Information Center this morning.
35:42And for the corresponding period this year,
35:45we actually have 91.
35:47So we are not far from that 107 at this time,
35:50but keeping in consideration, of course,
35:54taking into consideration that we are in a state of emergency,
35:57but still we are seeing a lot of graves and shootings
36:00happening across the country.
36:03Unfortunately, several persons are losing their lives,
36:07young men, middle-aged men mostly,
36:11falling prey to these gunmen.
36:15Yeah, but you have to ask yourself.
36:17I know it's 107 and we're just a few behind 91,
36:21but I think what spikes, creates these big spikes is the multiple murders,
36:26the triple and quadruple murders,
36:29and those are really as a result of gang activities.
36:34So I think it seems to be some suppression with respect to gang-related,
36:39multiple murders.
36:41We're not seeing that too much.
36:44And hopefully that if it continues running at around one a day,
36:50we could end up with 400.
36:52That would be a substantial reduction.
36:54Well, we're hopeful that it wouldn't even reach that number.
36:57Yeah.
36:58All right.
36:59We hope to take some of your calls when we get back.
37:01Let's take a break and we'll be back.
37:02Stay with us.
37:21Never once did a PNM go by to ask the people how they felt about the cost of living.
37:26They never asked you how their wage freezes, lockdowns,
37:29forex restrictions and other oppressive measures have affected workers,
37:33fathers, mothers, children, heads of households, young people,
37:37the elderly, the retired and the disabled.
37:40And I said, can we live another five years under this wicked gunman?
37:45Time to rise up.
37:51That was a paid political advertisement.

40:31Welcome back to Beyond the Tape, I'm your host Mark Mason,
40:58joined today by Captain Valence Rambart of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team,
41:03the Trinidad and Tobago Kenai Mounted Branch,
41:06in commemoration of World Dung Syndrome Day.
41:09They visited the Princess Elizabeth Center last week,
41:14and really shared some moments with those children.
41:18Let's take a look.
41:38We are very honored and privileged to partner with the Princess Elizabeth Center,
41:47and more so the special needs school here.
41:51It was really heartening when we got this invitation to come here and celebrate today with you all.
41:59We are the branch at Mounted and Kenai.
42:02We have a special love for children.
42:05As Miss Bain Keller will tell you, when she brought this idea to me, I said, let's do it one time.
42:11Right, because the children, you all are the future.
42:14You all are special.
42:17You all have equal opportunities.
42:21And we are here just to appreciate you all today.
42:26Today is your day.
42:27So we wear the socks to show that we are in one with those who are special,
42:34which is Dung Syndrome as well as others, right?
42:37They also wear the socks because they say that the chromosome is the shape of the socks.
42:45So for some of us who didn't know, now we know.
42:48The main reason, apart from being colors and showing that colors are different,
42:53is that the socks is the shape of the chromosome.
42:59So as we have disability and Dung Syndrome children, we know that they give a proper contribution.
43:07They give us a lovely contribution to our society.
43:10So we are not to cast them aside, but we are to always include them in everything that we are doing.
43:16As a Deputy Commissioner of Police and a former Mountie,
43:21I am especially proud of the work being done by the Mounted and Kenai branch.
43:27I know that for many children, especially those with Dung Syndrome and other special needs,
43:32interactions with animals can be transformative.
43:36The Mounted and Kenai branch, with its majestic horses, provides a unique form of therapy,
43:43one that nurtures emotional growth, enhances communication skills, and builds confidence.
43:49Because now you have to go far and beyond.
43:54I am glad that we have the children, who we consider normal children, to be here.
43:59To bring that awareness, that inclusion, and that sensitivity.
44:03So I want to thank you. I also want to say a special thank you to the Ministry of Agriculture for donating.
44:09We have some plants. We have lettuce, tomatoes, celery.
44:13So we have about four types of plants.
44:15And the idea behind it is for mommy and daddy to plant it with you,
44:18and for the plants to blossom just like you all will blossom.
44:24The Mounted and Kenai branch provides a unique form of therapy,
44:27one that nurtures emotional growth, enhances communication skills, and builds confidence.
44:31Because now you have to go far and beyond.
44:33So I want to thank you. I also want to say a special thank you to the Ministry of Agriculture for donating.
44:38We have some plants. We have lettuce, tomatoes, celery.
44:41So we have about four types of plants.
44:43And the idea behind it is for mommy and daddy to plant it with you,
44:46and for the plants to blossom just like you all will blossom.
44:49Because now you have to go far and beyond.
44:51The Mounted and Kenai branch provides a unique form of therapy,
44:54one that nurtures emotional growth, enhances communication skills, and builds confidence.
44:58Because now you have to go far and beyond.
45:00A really good feeling.
45:01Really, really, really good.
45:02A good moment with the kids and the Mounted branch.
45:05Loving the animals, the horses, the Kenai dogs.
45:09Certainly a really bonding moment,
45:12especially on an important day like World Dog Syndrome Day to make them feel
45:16just as equal as any other child in Trinidad and Tobago and in the world.
45:20And that was incidentally last Friday.
45:22Yeah, and I learned something, that the chromosome is in the shape of an L.
45:26Excellent. I want to congratulate the TTP
45:29as we respect this outreach program for Down Syndrome persons.
45:34Mark, we highlighted on our page on Down Syndrome Day
45:38a boy by the name of Bernard Singh.
45:42He attended the primary school at which I was principal.
45:47On the first or second day that I was principal, his father came.
45:51He was age 8, and his father told me he was turned down numerous times
45:55in terms of his ability to be enrolled in a primary school.
45:59And I took the decision there and there to enroll Bernard.
46:02And Bernard came for his first day of schooling at age 8.
46:05And fast forward to 2019, he went on to represent Trinidad
46:09at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
46:14And I thought this year I would highlight that case
46:18because we cannot make these children feel different, right?
46:24And we talk about inclusive education.
46:26But that outreach program with the kids, the Down Syndrome kids,
46:30that has come across really, really well.
46:33Great, great, great idea.
46:36And it will help build trust with the police service as well
46:39in terms of the public trust in the police officers.
46:42I want to also encourage other entities to also be part of, you know,
46:47a venture like that, visiting other institutions similar to that
46:54and bringing that joy and that merriment and enjoyment to the children,
46:59not just during Christmas or special occasion, but across the year
47:04because I think it's really important, that bonding.
47:06And, you know, they talk about animals having this special kind of
47:10releasing endorphins in persons to make them happy and so on.
47:14And I know when children see animals, they tend to gravitate towards them.
47:18Yeah.
47:19You know, horses there, everybody wants to go on a ride.
47:23You give me an idea.
47:24We will probably go to the same Princess Elizabeth Center
47:28and do some outreach program with those kids.
47:30Yes, certainly.
47:31I mean, you know, other animals also, they might be fascinated by that.
47:36We give them some ropes to climb and do some nice outdoor things with them indoors.
47:41We've done it before, teach them to read a compass,
47:45show them how to use a GPS system, many other things.
47:49We could teach them and let them enjoy it.
47:52Because you never know what profession they might choose, where it might come in handy.
47:56There's a saying, you never know when and where influence starts.
48:03So you have to be doing these things, hoping that, you know,
48:06one or two of them in the group, you know, may be inspired and will take it further.
48:11Yes, certainly, Malin.
48:12We have a caller in line.
48:14I was just about to say something.
48:15Caller, good evening.
48:18Hello?
48:19Good evening, caller.
48:20Go ahead, you're live and beyond the chair.
48:23Yes, this security guard that was held up at the school,
48:30I find that these security guards, there should never be one person in a place like that.
48:37There should be two people, all of us, more, and especially females.
48:43I find that is totally unacceptable for a woman.
48:48That should never be.
48:50There should never be one person walking in a place like that.
48:54So, yes?
49:00Yes, hello?
49:01Yes, caller, go ahead, quickly.
49:03I'm listening.
49:08Hello, caller?
49:10Seems that we lost the caller, but you got the gist of what you were saying.
49:13Yeah, we got the gist.
49:14But we're going to take a short break, and when we get back, we'll respond.
49:17Stay with us.

52:05Mary returns to her car and this is what happens.
52:16Mary decides to call when she's five minutes away to let her daughter know that she is close by.
52:22But Mary forgot one thing.
52:29I really don't know.
52:30Well, I tell you.
52:31After two tickets, Mary just isn't paying attention to her speed.
52:51Don't be like Mary.
52:53Obey the laws of the road.
52:55A message from the TTPS.
53:11Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
53:12I'm your host, Mark Bosan, joined today by Captain Valence Rambrad of the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
53:17And you were telling us over the weekend Sunday that you all had a lot of white meat.
53:22Did you all safely, as I say, local parlance, go on your way?
53:26Yes, we had a great time there.
53:28Remember, we hunters, we collect our stuff, make sure we keep some.
53:33And there it is.
53:34Preparations.
53:35We had lots of different types of wild meat and our members got together.
53:39This is our base camp in Moruga.
53:42We have a beauty.
53:43We did some renovations.
53:44We did some upgrade to the camp.
53:46And that's a beautiful camp deep in the forest in Moruga.
53:49We're proud that Moruga is the home base for our team now.
53:53And we spent a lot of money.
53:55We had over 100 plus persons at the wild meat line yesterday.
54:03So, yeah, we had fun until late last night.
54:06I know you missed it, but you had a family engagement.
54:09But you were there before at one of our events.
54:11Yes, I called a couple of years ago.
54:12I did come.
54:13But I don't know.
54:14I know we were supposed to.
54:16Let me respond to one minute to the caller.
54:18My apologies.
54:19Right.
54:20So, basically, Mark, I could speak to this because I'm a former educator,
54:25principal, school administrator.
54:28Previously, we had no security guards in most schools.
54:31Then we had one at the front gate in most schools.
54:36Not the secondary schools.
54:37They have multiple security guards.
54:41But the caller is making a good point.
54:43As a principal, I was never comfortable with having a female security in a guard boot.
54:50By themselves.
54:51By themselves overnight.
54:52And I think the recommendation he's making, you know, schools have two entrances.
54:58Most schools have two entrances, one to the back and one to the front.
55:02So, I think, you know, the situation in Trinidad and Tobago
55:06comes from the presence of more than one security guard in a school.
55:12And we have to face reality that we have to do these things in order, you know,
55:18to ensure that government property is safe
55:21and that the people who is there to protect the property is also safe.
55:25Indeed.
55:26Because, you know, there are a lot of things happening in and around schools now more so than ever.
55:30And there's certainly a need for heightened vigilance on the compound,
55:34especially when you're talking about, you know, young children, young teenagers and so on.
55:40You know, there are times where things might actually happen on the compound
55:44that the security, one or two persons might need or even be able to handle
55:48and they need, as you say, a larger complement of security.
55:53And there's a lot of valuable equipment in schools.
55:57And, you know, that could be the target of criminals.
56:01Additionally, we're seeing a lot of vandalism with respect to churches, schools, public institutions.
56:09You know, we have to move with the times and just be dynamic in how we try to resolve these situations
56:16but try and resolve them quickly so that, you know, lives and property could be saved.
56:21Yes, certainly. Good point, Adam.
56:23You know, I just wanted to ask you because all that while,
56:26meet Ann, you didn't bring anything for the crew of Beyond the Tape?
56:30Well, we have some time, so I will make sure that is done before the March 30th.
56:37Yes.
56:38Because we have one month, so I will give a couple of people the assignment to ensure that Jackie...
56:44So they don't want to make the news about freezing anywhere,
56:46meet in our fridge, and the deadline passed.
56:48Exactly.
56:49And you get in trouble.
56:50And then in the mornings, and companies show up at our doorstep.
56:53So we will make something happen before the end of the month for the crew here, right?
56:57I give you that assurance.
56:59All right. Repeat tonight at 11.30. We run tomorrow at 11 o'clock.
57:04The TV6 News is up next. Stay with us.
