Atmospheric river targeting the Pacific Northwest

A stormy pattern is returning to Northern California and the Pacific Northwest just in time for the weekend.

00:00We have another storm starting to move in

00:01and already have several alerts that

00:03have been issued ahead of this winter.

00:05Storm warnings in the dark blue

00:06winter weather advisories in the gray.

00:08We have some high wind

00:09warnings in that tan color,

00:11so let's break down exactly what to

00:12expect because it's not just one

00:14storm that we're talking about.

00:15It's a pattern stormy pattern really

00:17that is starting up once again

00:19for the Pacific Northwest,

00:20so this is the first storm starting

00:22tonight lasting through tomorrow.

00:23We're going to see some locally

00:25heavy rainfall that could lead

00:26to some flooding concerns.

00:27Also, that mountain smoke that

00:29could lead to so that mountain snow.

00:31And of course,

00:32some of the icy mix in between when

00:34we are moving from lower to higher

00:36elevation and then starting tomorrow night.

00:38We have an atmospheric River coming

00:39in a Pineapple Express specifically,

00:41and of course we know the atmospheric

00:43rivers these bring the even heavier

00:45rainfall where flooding landslides,

00:47especially in burn scar areas.

00:48That is more of a concern,

00:50but you'll notice also this storms

00:52focus has shifted more to northern

00:54California all the way down to the Bay Area.

00:56So let's take a look at some

00:58Let's take a look at future radar and

01:01exactly how this plays out here and

01:03how the storm is going to move through

01:05as we go throughout the rest of the

01:08evening and into tomorrow morning.

01:09We see more of that mountain snow

01:11mixing in for Washington, Oregon,

01:13starting to move into Idaho,

01:14but it's by the time we get to the

01:17evening hours that this is really

01:18more of an issue for Idaho and then

01:20we're talking about the next storm,

01:22right?

01:23That immediately moves in after more of

01:24a southern focus northern California

01:26there and we have some snow mixed in.

01:28There as well.
