Pacific Northwest braces for wet weather

Days of rain are on the way for the Pacific Northwest.

00:00So the Pacific storm train here is coming out of the Gulf of Alaska, and we're going to be watching a series of these storms

00:05come in. There's one wave. Here comes another wave. Another one will be behind that, just kind of rolling through the Pacific Northwest.

00:13And then the next one here by Tuesday, you can see the storm tracks begin to favor a little bit more of British Columbia.

00:19So we go from a storm track that kind of favors the Pacific Northwest to one that comes in eventually lifting a little farther north

00:26as high pressure begins to set up shop for a time next week over the west.

00:30So in the meantime, a very stormy pattern is in the cards. Many areas are under flood watches into Seattle.

00:37There are some concerns here about avalanche danger with the heavy rain coming in.

00:40And snow levels are so high that we're less concerned about snow unless you're way up above 7, 8, 9,000 feet.

00:47That's where you're going to get hammered with heavy snow. But for the main passes, Stevens Pass, White Pass, Willamette Pass,

00:53Santiam, and certainly Snoqualmie Pass, it's all rain for you. In Spokane, we have showers tomorrow.

00:58Kind of a chilly day, 44 degrees. The heavier rain will be farther west.

01:03And again, snow will fall in the mountains very heavily, but there's a new surge of heavy rain there.
