00:00We got rounds of heavy rain targeting this area. It's already been quite a stormy week across parts
00:04of the plains with storms bringing thunder, lightning, and drenching rain to places like
00:08the Sunflower State. That's Kansas. There's Overland Park in the heart of the Kansas City
00:14Metro on the Kansas side, a little bit southwest of the city. A major busy place there, Overland
00:22Park. And tonight we're going to be staying warm there. Kansas City, 76. A quiet, nice summer-like
00:28night here as we are on officially our final Thursday night of at least the literal astronomical
00:33summer season. Look out for storms in Des Moines, Peoria. Scattered thunderstorms should sneak
00:38through the night quieter in Chicago, but I-70 there. Des Moines to Peoria to Indianapolis
00:43and Columbus. Scattered storms. Pittsburgh's in on some of that tonight, too. We have rain
00:47moving through Rapid City, Watertown, Bismarck, Sioux Falls, and scattered storms into Scottsbluff.
00:51So it's a pretty active pattern here in the north central. That's why we're focusing on
00:55it so much this mid to late week. And we're going to be dealing with some drenching rain
00:59from tonight through Friday and Saturday. And you can see in the dark green area, the
01:04heaviest rainfall is going to be impacting South Dakota, central and southern Minnesota,
01:08northern Iowa, much of Wisconsin as well. Minneapolis is the biggest city in this with
01:12travel disruptions. And again, this is going to be expanding east. When we look at the daytime
01:16weather on Friday, here we are with soaking rain across much of northern Iowa, southern sections
01:21of Minnesota into southwestern Wisconsin. Let's watch this play out here. So tonight,
01:27showers and storms break out in Nebraska and South Dakota. Later tonight, we see this into
01:32Rochester and Waterloo. And then Friday, downpours will be pretty numerous in the upper Midwest.
01:38That slides east, but the tail of this just gets hung up from Des Moines to Chicago. Interstate 80 there.
01:44And so I-80 there, Des Moines into Peoria, my 70 a little further south, seeing showers and
01:49thunderstorms. And this moves through the area of Chicago and southern parts of Michigan as well.
01:55And Saturday, the heaviest rain will be in southern parts of Wisconsin into southern Michigan.
01:58The heat holds. Ann has been talking about that. We're going to hear more from her on that.
02:03And then more storms break out into the plains. The severe thunderstorm threat escalates a bit
02:07on Saturday. So we're going to break out of some risk from the Texas panhandle to southern parts
02:12of Iowa. Damaging wind and hail, as well as flash flooding. And when we look at rainfall amounts here,
02:17we're locked into it. Four plus inches of rain. Four to eight inches. Rochester, Minnesota into
02:22Eau Claire, Wisconsin. That's the area that we're most concerned about. Minneapolis should see two
02:26to four inches of rain. Pierre, South Dakota, two to four. Milwaukee, probably around two inches plus
02:31maybe an inch or two into Chicago. And Sunday, this area, again, south of I-80 along and north of
02:38I-70
02:39facing some drenching thunderstorms.
