As the police investigation continues into what transpired at the One Caribbean Music Festival, where police officers in riot gear were seen in confrontation with an unarmed civilian, Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin says, changes have been made.

00:00As the police investigation continues into what transpired at the One Caribbean Music Festival,
00:05where police officers in riot gay were seen in confrontation with an unarmed civilian,
00:10Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin says changes have been made.
00:15This after the actions of the officers, one of whom was seen kicking the man,
00:19have come under scrutiny, with questions as to whether there was an excessive use of force.
00:24I can tell you at this time, one of the things that we have done is to remove the officer from at least from that department.
00:37Well, I'm going to say department, but in terms of the public order team,
00:42and we are going to ensure that, again, while that is happening, that the requisite training
00:46and also the investigation is done in that matter and coming out of that,
00:51we will wait to see exactly what will be the next step.
00:54The protocols of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, in terms of discipline,
00:59we have a deal, deal 14 of 2008, that gives a requirement in terms of,
01:04it's normally 30 days that is given for our investigation,
01:08and if an extension, a further 30 days.
01:12And so we have regulations that guide the length of time in which these investigations take.
01:18Meanwhile, there have been calls for the police to investigate the large amount of foreign exchange
01:23that was spent ahead of the concert.
01:24The promoter's, Jacho Entertainment, has said it paid $950,000 to dancehall artist Vibes Cartel
01:33and another $150,000 to his legal team.
01:38No mention has been made of what was paid to the other international acts who were expected to perform.
01:43Well, here's what the Acting Topgop has to see on that matter.
01:48Well, the TTPS have not received any formal report of this matter.
01:53And nevertheless, we continue to look at the matter.
01:58And based on that, I have already engaged the FIB to look into the matter.
02:03So we will look into it and we will see what is the ramifications that come out of it.
