00:00Reports are that just after 3 a.m. Bassoon was driving a white BMW registration
00:06PDE 1800 heading east along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. When on
00:12approaching El Socorro he lost control of the vehicle causing it to collide
00:16with the concrete barriers of the median. The vehicle flipped multiple times and
00:21then unfortunately burst into flames. You know these tragedies are
00:28unfortunately preventable. I mean it's an investigation though and as we're
00:33getting closer into the Christmas and into the carnival season we want to
00:38remind drivers of the innate responsibility to operate in a motor
00:44vehicle and of course the unfortunate consequences when things go wrong.
00:48Bassoon's body is said to have been burnt beyond recognition. He became the 102nd
00:54road fatality victim for 2024. With 102 persons who have lost their lives on the
01:00roads it's an increase of 10% unfortunately. The TGPS is urging
01:06responsible road practices ahead of the Christmas and carnival seasons. It cannot be
01:11every all the time and we're really hoping that persons understand that
01:19their choices can result in consequences that are unplanned and unpleasant and it
01:27could make a difference whether or not for Christmas there's a Christmas tree
01:32going up or 10 for a week unfortunately. So we're asking you to please be
01:36responsible and support our efforts to keep the road safe.
