00:00Just eight hours after pensioner Winston Techie Thomas was abducted from his
00:05home in Pinal in the wee hours of this morning, his body was found in his
00:09vehicle here on the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoi Highway
00:14extension near the Galkanda overpass. Police received a tip-off about the
00:19vehicle parked on the shoulder after an alert went out this morning to be on the
00:23lookout for the white B15 motorcar. Investigators said Thomas was at his
00:28home on Pinal Rock Road around two o'clock this morning when three
00:31Spanish-speaking men stormed his home. Investigators say the intruders stole
00:36several items from the house and loaded them into the car before bundling Thomas
00:41into the car as well. The car which had a blown tyre and damaged rim appeared to
00:46have been driven on the damaged rim by Thomas' killers who later abandoned the
00:50vehicle. Police found the elderly man on the rear seat lying on his back, his face
00:56covered with a towel and blood splattered across the seats. Police
01:00believed that Thomas was beaten and stabbed by his attackers. A team of
01:05officers under Inspector Maharaj and officers of the Southern Homicide
01:08Division are continuing investigations. Mark Besant, TV6 News.
