00:00It was here at this car park near Rodney's supermarket in Arima that three
00:05Venezuelan women were allegedly kidnapped after arriving there late
00:08yesterday evening. Investigators told TV6 News that one of the women so far
00:13identified as Josebel Marquez had arrived at the location with two other
00:17females around 6 p.m. at a corner of Fiddler's Dream Street and Cocorite Road.
00:22A relative of Marquez who later spoke with the police via translator said she
00:27came there to meet with her and her friends. The relative told police that
00:31the woman had only moments before arrived at a location after coming from
00:35Princess Town. The relative told police that in a blink of an eye a grey car
00:40pulled up alongside the three women. Two male occupants and two females came out
00:45of the vehicle and forced the victims into the car under threats of violence.
00:49The car then drove off. Police say that shortly afterwards one of the people
00:54who witnessed the alleged kidnapping received a text message instructing
00:59that what they had witnessed must not be reported to anyone and that the women
01:03were being held until money that was owed was paid back. Officers of the Arima
01:08Police Station and officers of the anti-kidnapping unit are now looking
01:12into the matter. They are also pursuing leads into a possible human trafficking
01:16ring related to the crime. Mark Besant, TV6 News.
