A woman is recovering from injuries, after a police officer's gun fired a shot inside a fast food restaurant.



Police are calling it an accident.

00:22A woman is recovering from injuries tonight after a police officer's gun
00:27fired a shot inside a fast-food restaurant. Police are calling it an
00:31accident. The incident happened this afternoon at this KFC restaurant in St.
00:37James. An eyewitness told TV6 News two male police officers entered the
00:41restaurant and purchased food. While on their way out according to the witness
00:45one of the officers proceeded to move his service weapon from his side to the
00:50front of his body. The eyewitness said that's when a loud explosion was heard
00:54as the gun went off. Police called it an accidental discharge of the officer's
00:59weapon. They suspect a bullet hit the tiles in the restaurant and that led to
01:04the 52 year old woman sustaining injuries to her legs. According to police
01:08the woman was treated at the St. James District Health Facility and discharged.
01:12The woman is now said to be assisting police with their investigation into the
01:17incident.
