00:00Speaking with the Morning Edition, protest organizer Alyssa Phillip revealed that she has since been charged with disorderly conduct and
00:09inciting public opinion in a matter allegedly prejudicial to public safety under the emergency powers' regulations.
00:17She says after being detained, protesters were forced to sleep on the cold floor of the holding cell, while her
00:24mother became deeply shaken by the ordeal.
00:26They placed us in our cell. The cell didn't have any, it was just basically the ground we had to
00:34sleep on the cold ground. We would have tried to use our clothes as like, you know, pillows. For the
00:45night, we prayed. Yeah, we just prayed basically until we fell asleep.
00:54Philip tells the Morning Edition some officers showed compassion toward them.
00:59The WTC done, she was really nice. He told us, it was our father's prayer. They were not aware of
01:10our charges up until probably like 24 hours later.
01:15We kept asking them, what are we being charged with? You know, even the officer who arrested us, which is
01:23Superintendent Edgar Baird, he was not aware of the charges.
01:29However, she alleges that some officers also made threats against her during the ordeal.
01:36The person would have tried to silence me even in death by, I don't know if it's threats or warnings,
01:46about being put on a permanent detention order, being sent to the woman's prison for six months,
01:55that things could have been worse for us, and which they chose to go easy on us, and that if
02:06they really wanted to make us suffer, they could have. It was a really nice experience.
02:14Philip says she's expected to appear in court on Monday.
