00:07 However, the scenes which played out were in fact part of a simulation exercise carried out
00:12 by Port of Spain City Police, who demonstrated their tactical expertise with a staged interception
00:18 of armed criminals. The simulation came during the first mayor's quarterly inspection parade today.
00:24 The Port of Spain Mayor says the council is committed to ensuring that the capital city is
00:53 safe. Can you tell us what we can look forward to in terms of crime fighting initiatives?
00:58 Well, I'm not going to speak openly about the initiatives that we plan in terms of crime
01:04 fighting for obvious reasons. But what you've been able to see this morning is that the city
01:08 police is ready, willing and able to play their role in the crime fighting effort here in the
01:14 city of Port of Spain. We continue to work very closely with all national security agencies,
01:19 with the Tri-National Police Service, all law enforcement agencies to play the role that we
01:25 are duty bound to play in ensuring that we can have a safe city for everybody.
01:31 And what are we seeing in terms of trends? Are we seeing increase or decrease in any particular
01:35 types of crimes? I think that that question is better directed to the Commissioner of Police
01:40 in terms of the trends. What I can say is that the Port of Spain Corporation is committed to
01:46 the work that we have to do.
