00:00Whether it's a threat to business people or a contractor on a government project,
00:05Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Meister says extortion will not be
00:11tolerated by the TTPS. We will not be tolerating any contracts, any government
00:19contracts as it relates to making the place a better place. We will not be
00:22tolerating any persons stymied in those activities. So persons who have
00:29intentions of doing so, we are asking them to desist and if they fail to do so, then we'll
00:33have to organize ourselves in such a way that we will deal with them accordingly.
00:38He's once again calling on victims or anyone with information to report it.
00:44We just want to let the criminal elements know that we're going to be dealing with
00:47these extortion matters very very seriously and we're asking members of the
00:50business community to come forward. The first stage of this extortion issue is
00:54for persons to come forward and make the report. Do be afraid to come forward.
00:59I have a number that they can call 486-9999 where they can report these
01:06things anonymously. He says if more boots on the ground in certain areas is
01:10necessary, then that is what will take place.
01:13ACP Meister was recently put in charge of the Central, South and Southwestern
01:19Police Divisions and while he walked through the community of St. Mary's
01:23Village, Moruga on Monday, he says he plans to visit many others.
01:29I'll be going to a lot of different communities. I just decided to choose Moruga
01:33community first, but I'll be going in different areas in Southwestern Division
01:37and across the whole southern region. So the idea is just to come to these
01:41communities and just give a sense of a show of force to let members of the
01:45community know that we, the police, we are on the ground. During his walkabout, he
01:50met with the mother of murdered mini-mart owner Enrico Guerra, who was
01:55shot dead along with his five-year-old daughter last month. Give the mother the
02:02assurance that we are doing all in our power. Our homicide detectives, they are
02:06working assiduously. They are using all resources to bring the perpetrators to
02:11justice. Cindy Ragubati Kersing, TV6 News.
