The Police Service sought to make clear, that the leader of this country's military is not under arrest and not a person of interest.

00:00The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has said it is aware of certain social media posts
00:05alluding to the arrest and interrogation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice-Marshal
00:09Daryl Daniel.
00:10However, in a statement on Friday evening, the TTPS said it wished to quote, inform the
00:15public that Air Vice-Marshal Daryl Daniel has neither been arrested nor interrogated
00:21and is not a person of interest in the ongoing firearms importation investigation led by
00:27Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence and Investigations, Susan Martin, end quote.
00:33The rumours the TTPS referred to began circulating following the arrest of Police Commissioner
00:38Earler Hayward Christopher and the detention of the former SSA Director, Roger Best, in
00:44connection with the investigation being led by Deputy Police Commissioner Martin.
00:48In its statement on Friday, the TTPS urged the public to rely on verified sources of
00:53information and refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports.
00:59Deputy Police Commissioner Martin said on Friday that at this time, an active investigation
01:04is proceeding.
