Two civilians are to be charged with the murder of WPC Eversley, alongside a municipal Police Constable.

The confirmation comes from Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro. Meantime Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Mystar, has been appointed the new head of the Municipal Police Service. Rynessa Cutting has more.

00:00Two civilians are to be charged with murder alongside a municipal police constable
00:06as the investigation into the police station heist and murder of WPC Eversley advances.
00:12Following further consultations with the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard, SC,
00:19the TTPS has received formal instructions to also charge a 24-year-old scrap iron dealer of Claxton Bay
00:27and a 20-year-old construction worker also of Claxton Bay
00:32alongside the 28-year-old municipal police officer already in custody.
00:38All three will be charged jointly with murder, robbery with violence, firearm trafficking and possession of ammunition.
00:47The 28-year-old municipal police officer remains the only municipal police officer charged at this time.
00:55At least 10 suspects had been detained during the course of the investigation.
01:01The accused are expected to appear in court sometime next week.
01:05At this time, Assistant Superintendent of Police Maraj of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations
01:11is formally preferring the charges against all three accused.
01:15And once this process is completed, the men will be taken before a master of the high court.
01:20The TTPS continues to pursue all remaining leads.
01:25Our investigators remain focused on identifying any additional facilitators,
01:30recovering any outstanding firearms and bringing every responsible individual before the courts.
01:37The commissioner says 44 firearms have been recovered.
01:41It has been reported that more than 100 guns were possibly stolen
01:45in the heist at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station.
01:49Meantime, Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Meister is now the head of the Municipal Police Service,
01:56formally replacing ACP Suranja Sagwamsingh, who has been sent on administrative leave pending the investigation.
02:04Meister tells TV6 News he's hitting the ground running.
02:08My immediate priorities are, one, initiate an immediate review of all municipal police security protocols,
02:15infrastructure and operational readiness.
02:17One, all issues identified will be addressed with urgency and accountability.
02:22Two, I will engage stakeholders and officers to resolve key issues through structured dialogue to revive officer morale.
02:33Three, to strengthen the role of the municipal police within the national security architecture.
02:38Meister paid a visit to WPC FSD's family today, on the first day in his new function.
02:45He shared the following message for the officers now under his command.
02:50To the officers under my command, your role is critical, so is your responsibility.
02:55Your safety, your discipline and your professionalism are now under sharper focus than ever before.
03:01We will correct what needs to be corrected quickly.
03:06To the public, you can expect order, presence and decisive leadership.
