00:00Alright, let's take a somersault over here where local gymnasts will be embarking on
00:04a new journey as they get set to compete at the inaugural Karyphta Artistic Gymnastic
00:09Championships in Kingston, Jamaica, and that starts next month.
00:13Fifty-two athletes who are chosen from a two-day trial event at the Woodbrook Youth Facility
00:18TNT will be represented in ten categories with representatives from eight clubs.
00:24Athletes at the championship are required to make minimum scores and finish in the top
00:28four positions within their level and age group to earn automatic placements on the
00:35Trinidad and Tobago team.
00:39I'm very excited.
00:43We have a really well-prepared team, our coaches have done a tremendous job at creating us
00:48some very, very well-prepared athletes, and I feel confident.
00:51This is the first time Trinidad and Tobago has been going to this competition, how do
00:55you feel about that?
00:57Listen, I am beyond excited.
00:59It's been decades that we've been trying to get Karyphta, an actual named event in the
01:04Caribbean, Karyphta Gymnastics.
01:06This is the inaugural Karyphta Artistic Gymnastics Championships ever, and I am beyond thrilled
01:13that Jamaica has made this happen for the Caribbean.
