00:00The fans are all in it. They are following the shuttle and feel the pain of a missed point just as much as the players.
00:07Action continues today at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua in the International Open.
00:13Some of the local favourites are back in action.
00:16Amara Urquhart, who won the women's singles title at the Karibaku Championships,
00:20continued her winning streak by winning in her opening match of the International Open earlier today.
00:26She's fighting fatigue after a few days of competition.
00:30Body pain, a lot of body pain, but I'm working through it, trying to ease my body back into it so I can perform.
00:39Do you think you have another title in you?
00:40I think so. I hope so.
00:43Even though she was victorious in the final of the Karibaku Championships,
00:47she still feels like she has a point to prove against her Guyanese opponent, Priyana Ramdani,
00:53who was leading on the scorecard but had to retire injured.
00:56How do you feel about the result of the injury to your competitor?
01:00Well, it is a shame because I would have loved to play out the match, but I still feel good about it in a way
01:06because I still manage to push through even under stressful conditions.
01:11Do you look forward to a rematch?
01:14Yes, I do, actually. I want to pull through the whole match and prove, even if she didn't get injured, that I could still pull through and win.
01:24Urquhart is teaming up with Kenny King for the International Open mixed doubles.
01:29King, who hails from Barbados, won the men's singles in Karibaku.
01:32Tough match, but I'm glad I was able to pull through in the end.
01:37And tough performance for Shea as well, too, but I'm glad we were able to pull through in the end.
01:41How do you feel about your chances in the International Open?
01:44It's going to be a tough, much tougher, because you've got a lot of countries coming in, good players playing.
01:51And honestly, I'm just here to play my best, you know.
01:55Anything can happen on the day. Sports is played on the day, so we'll see how it goes.
01:59The action continues tomorrow with the finals set for Sunday.
02:03Sergio Duvall, TV6 Board.
