00:00While acknowledging the media's role in keeping the public informed, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander believes greater recognition should be
00:08given to the work of law enforcement officers.
00:11On many occasions, we highlight all the negative things that crime brings. And whether we know it or not, we
00:23panic members of the public by doing so.
00:25The Homeland Security Minister, a former police officer, continued with his assessment of media coverage and how the public responds
00:33to what he identified as the good work of the police.
00:37But then when that same offence committed by persons are dealt with by law enforcement, instead of we show up
00:45praises on those who took the risk, we look to see what negative comes out of it.
00:53Well, the police should have, and the police should have, and the police should have. I often ask the persons
00:59who do that, go speak to the victims of crime, and you might get a different answer.
01:07Minister Alexander was speaking during a national seminar for parents and caregivers of disabled children and adolescents at the National
01:15Rocket Center in Takarigua on Saturday.
01:18One day earlier, Police Commissioner Alastair Guevara praised officers for their dedication and service during an exemplary service and attendance
01:26ceremony held at the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain.
01:30Without your presence, adorning this uniform on a daily basis, and coming out to serve the public that we serve,
01:40this place will be on chaos. Lawlessness will reign supreme, and we are the vanguard of democracy in this country.
01:54Commissioner Guevara also emphasized the importance of the executive of the TTPS recognizing what he called the hard work of
02:02the police.
