00:01Oh, sounds good.
00:03I tell you what, everybody was kung fu fighting as Five Rivers Secondary was the host for
00:08over 100 athletes at the National Karate Championship over the weekend.
00:12And they all displayed their skills in kata and kumite style categories.
00:18Well, the Team Elite Karate was once again the standout as their 17 athletes bagged a
00:23total of 29 medals, with 18 being gold, along with 7 silver and 4 bronze.
00:30National athletes Chelsea and Christian Winter preparing for international events.
00:36Well, they were coaches this time around rather than participants.
00:39But their depth of talent, well, that still shone as six of their fighters took home a pair of gold medals.
00:46Dash and Durgu took the silver black belt division, 67 kg, in kumite.
00:51However, Jaheim Braun took the bronze in the same event, but landed the most resounding blue.
01:00And head coach Sensi Barry Winter was pleased with Team Elite's karate performance on their
01:06return to the event.
01:08TTK, you haven't had an event for a while.
01:11We now took a proper team since COVID to that event, so I was very happy about the results.
01:16Last year when we went, we took three kids only, because of the timing and scheduling, because
01:22they were only cancelling.
01:24And we won goal in all those events last year.
01:27And now this year, we took 17 people and we sorted out.
01:31Our ambition was to win national champion, national titles at the Chiangelo Karate Championships.
01:38And now we set on December 6th and 7th at the Waku Grand Nationals.
01:45So at the end of that, we will have national champions in both karate and national champions
01:50in sport martial arts.
